Title: Just got my new fileserver online

sounds like an airport is now in my study however

my raid is all done using unRAID (www.lime-technology.com), linux OS that runs off a flash drive using a dedicated parity drive. my parity drive is currently 2TB.

the best thing about it is all the drives can be different sizes etc, can't really do that with anything else

the other specs, quad core e8600, 2gb ram, supermicro c2see motherboard

why not? do you back things up to disc then delete them from your computer when the drive gets full?

nah I just meant that it's a fucking shitload of memory. mindblowing.
