Title: THE PROBLEM WITH KURUPT
Post by: Sir Petey on June 03, 2009, 08:41:24 PM
he is an eastcoast battle rapper at his roots and he came to deathrow with a sharp aggressive flow which made him stand out over smooth ass tracks and also made him stand out when rapping along side snoop and dpg who all have laid back flows for the most part, it seemed like the more he fucked around with the pound the more his content and flow started to mirror there shit, like they slowly rubbed of on him and he changed his style...sometimes he tried to employ that aggressive flow nowadays and it sounds so forced sometimes...

kurupt is at his bet when hes pissed is what im getting at...look at streets iz a mutha he was beefing with dmx and them over foxy on the highly under rated deathrow disc that came out a few years ago he was pissed at dpg and he came off like a motherfucker on some of those songs.

the new shit he did with quik is bangin and im glad i stayed away from the leaks until the album came out in its entirety... kurupt surprised me on this a lil bit.

Actually I feel like the more Kurupt has worked with DPG he sounded better. Although his work with Battlecat is dope, Gotti's best work has and might always be with Daz, Dre, Fred Wreck or the DPG affiliates.

I think between 02-04 he kinda slipped a bit in his lyrics.. I remember listening to Another Cali Weekend and i couldnt believe that Kurupt... The same Kurupt who killed Puffin Blunts N Taqueray as well as Stranded On Death Row... was spitting the same line over and over...

"The Nerve of the Bitch,The Nerve of the Bitch,The Nerve of the Bitch,The Nerve of the Bitch,The Nerve of the Bitch, I Swerve on a Bitch"

Then after that sum of his lyrics fell off... But from 05 and up he stepped it up again and it came back up...

I could be wrong maybe til late 03 he was slippin cuz when Throwback Muzik came out he sounded on point again...

I agree...I think hes on point again. I do like when he has that aggressive flow though. Sounds Raw and you can tell thats when hes in his zone...

As for when they dissing, thats goes for a lot of rappers...They go harder and come off way more aggressive when they beefing, but struggle to make normal tracks. Kurupt can be aggressive when hes not beefing.

I think its a combination of him being old and tired as well, he is hasn't had anything to say since DPG Youg Gotti and Kurupt.....nigger this and nigger that...bitch bitch bitch, eat a bowl of shit bitch...some awful lyrics, you still get the groupies who will love anything he puts out...

I think he's just old as fuck and doesn't have shit to rap about any more.

he raps like he aint got anything to prove anymore...like he dont believe he could ever reach the level of sucess and admiration he once had and if thats the case its time to throw in the bandana.

if this joint hes doing with terrace martin aint shit i wont check for kurupt ever again on some real shit.

Well as far as lyrics go, he is one of the best.. Everybody on any coast will admit kurupt is one of the best...  He doesnt have to prove that hes a killer lyricist...

He needs to take the snoop doff approach and become marketable... thats how it is nowadays.. who woulda thought young death row snoop doggy dogg would become tv celebrity Snoop Dogg..

He had some awesome joints on Hi-Tek's last two albums as well. He's been on the "Bitch, eat a dick" shit since as far as back as "Streetz Iz A Mutha" and "2001" and nobody shits on his work from those albums. It's all in how he works it.
