Title: Paid the Cost Tracklisting
Post by: ibbbashore on October 18, 2002, 02:14:41 PM
I got this in email and thought I'd post it for everyone....I dont' know if the guy I got it from is legit so don't bite my head off if it's wrong :)

It looks like it may be legit but who knows....he won't tell me how or where he got the inside info.

Ya, tracklist looks dope............BUT, i still can't believe Snoop never lets Warren produce some tracks for his album........and to hear Snoop over a Daz track would be dope as hell too

no warren g or dre, that's a let down

i was hoping for at least one 213 song and one dre/snoop song.

this looks pretty tight though, if this tracklist is real. ill probably pick it up some time after its released.
hope it aint a disappointment.

looking at this tracklist, ballin better be the 2nd single.

Ballin is a DOPE song, but would be a TERRIBLE SINGLE!  Are u serious?  I mean, hardcore Snoop fans like this song, but to the general public this song would be horrible, much in the same vein as Stacey Adams.  Ballin is a dope laid back song, but can get pretty boring.......

looks pretty tight, but i don't think it's legit because daz said that he produced 2 songs for snoops upcoming lp and there is supposed to be a song on this album called unwritten rules of the courtroom.

you know daz is lieing, that's usual.  I just don't see why snoop has this dope as producer in fred wreck and you go to sub-par jellyroll.  I can't name one classic jellyroll track.

Title: Re:Paid the Cost Tracklisting

I saw this tracklisting on the official doggystyle records message forum. It looks legit. Some tracks that we were told were gonna be on it aren't (one with that british gangster), but then again, tracklistings continually change.
Just look at Dre's 2001. I remember there were ads in mags, for the chronic 2001, and the artists supposed to appear but didn't eg. RBX (which the track later appeared on Marshall mathers LP on Remember Me)

I am disappointed that dre ain't gonna be on it, even though his beats sound the same recently. I hope the album will be put together & edited properly. I know The Bishop Don MAgic Juan is on the end of 'from the chuuuch 2 tha palace' which is now runs at 4:40. I hope it's also non-stop style like on doggystyle & last meal, & the skits aren't too long.

Why is everyone hating on Jelly Roll. You're entitled to your own opinions, but I felt all his tracks on the last meal (except I can't swim'). Party with a dpg on Top Dogg was a tight beat, and on the Blvd from the wash ost.
'the spotlight' seems tight with a george clinton sample.
I would have thought 'I believe in you' would be ideal for latoiya Williams album.
'A message 2 fat cuz' sounds funny. Maybe it will be a diss towars suge.

PS Did anyone else catch snoops new video @From tha chuuuch...' last night on MTV Base (UK). I thought it would be a bit corny, but I have to admit it was funny, especially when he is made to slap a womens arse, the barbershop scene & the hilarious police scene (ps wasn't that little guy in friday?).
That beat for beautiful sounded tight in the background. It will be interesting how snoops sounds over it.

its kinda wacc that we heard 50% of the album already

It ain't fuckin Snoop's fault if y'all some fuckin internet pirates, is it?!?!?!? And yes, I AM proud that I only heard From Tha Chuuch to tha Palace.

Tracklist looks tight. I been waitin' for that Batman & Robin shit since they mentioned it in The Source...

7. Ballin feat. The Dramatics, Lil' Half Dead, prod. Battlecat, sample "Feel for You" (Dramatics)

9. Papered Up, prod. Fredwreck

these two songs need to be takin off the album, they both are cool tracks but there are better replacements to have on the album, they shouls be replaced with "vicious flow" and "20 minutes pt 2" which are two bangin tracks that need to be on there, and if not one of those put "family reunin" up on that shit just to get tha family on the album

13. Hourglass feat, Mr. Kane, Goldie Loc, prod. Jellyroll, sample "I Just Want To Be" (Cameo)

:D What kind of song could be this one right here ?
A song about a pimp glass ? Hourglass had no sense at all....maybe Our glass,

Lmao, w0rd.
Some people act like a album can't be good if it's more than 13 tracks..
But if you look at it, there's a better chance that the album will be good the more tracks you have.
That is.. unless there isn't a skip-button on your CD-player..  ::)

MY REAL NAME, what country are you from?  You never heard of the term HOURGLASS?

I will quote my momma's favourite soap opera "Like sands through the HOURGLASS, these are the Days Of Our Lives"

Jome: i know what you mean, the more songs the more dope ones, right?  But that is hardly ever the case, as artists can usually make 10 dope tracks, but after that shit gets sorry.....

Im not going to diss you cuz that little coment you made, that shit is kiddy.  But don't come at me like that again!!! If think something is wrong with what I posted than ask me about it.  DONT COME AT LIKE THAT.  What I ment was when you have too many songs there is a high chance that yu gonna have more than a couple of fillers(bullshit tracks).  The more fillers an album has the less you will feel the heaters.  if you look at teh best albums of all time, they all had few # of tracks.  You can say look at all eyes on me but at the same time, Pac was going through a lot of shit and had a lot of topic matter.  You could see all ready that snoop has fillers,  look at suited & booted, that shit is a filler, What is he talking about?  His mink coats? His pimp glass? You cant dance to that beat, you can't bob your head, it's just some shit he's throwing on the album to fill it up wit tracks.  So yeah you can look at it like more for your money but really it's less quality more quanity!!

"The Neptunes lace the club-ready Beautiful - Pharrell Williams sings the hook, while Snoop flips mackadocious lines about his love for the woman that lets him do his thing. Snoop shows a seldom seen side of himself here, defending his lady and making it plain and clear that she is what makes his world turn. He turns the same trick on the smooth Hi-Tek produced Believe In You, where he pledges loyalty to his true love.

Don't get it twisted, though. Snoop hasn't toned down his act. He brings his typical gangster-meets-pimp-flavored heat throughout most of Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Boss. On the gangster side, he blasts everyone from Xzibit to Kurupt to Death Row Records' notorious honcho on the blistering Pimp't Slapped - "Suge Knight's a bitch and that's on my life", he snarls over the funk-inspired beat by the promising Josef Leimberg. This cut already has the streets buzzing and has earned a place as one of the best 'diss' songs in hip-hop history.

Snoop switches gears over the cosmic slop of Fred Wreck's From Long Beach 2 Brickcity, which also features fiery vocals from Redman - here, the two rhyme legends work tag team braggadocio vocal magic like Kobe and Shaq run the court.

Elsewhere, Snoop puts his pimp style on full display. On the rumbling, Jellyroll-produced You Got What I Want, Snoop declares that he's "Snoop Hephner mixed with a little bit of Doggy Flynt", a nod to porn magnates Hugh Hefner and Larry Flynt. Suited N Booted has Snoop boasting of his immaculate, unparalled wardrobe, while Boss Playa features him breaking down the rules of the pimp game with a vocal assist from The Arch Bishop Don Magic Juan.

Snoop's signature Snoopy Collins persona shines through on Wasn't Yo Fault and the seductive, flute-driven, Just Blaze-produced Lollipop"

From Long Beach 2 Brickcity is not so tight....redman ousthine snoop on this one.
Believe in you is  :P for a snoop dogg album

Tracks that can stay out of the album:

*Suited n Booted
-I dont like this meech wells beat, its weird for him make a beat like this one.
The song is all about mink coats, gators and glasses.-

*Wasn't Your Fault
-First:Bishop don magic juan gettin on my nerves,i cant stand his wack voice even if its only on the intro. I dont like snoop's flow on this one.-

*I Believe in You feat. Latoiya Williams, prod. Hi-Tek
The contents of this song are nice...from husband to wife....a nice dedication but i dont wanna listen to a song like this one on a snoop's album. He can use hi-tek in a different way,not for a slow/mellow beat like this one.

*Boss Playa
Nice beat by fred wreck (but boring after a few times),snoop's lines are average.BISHOP MAGIC JUAN ALL OVER THE SONG,this is why i hate this track.
