It should be noted that they missed the brothers Clipse who are both over 30 (Malice is 36 and Pusha T is 33). And RZA who will be 40 in a few weeks. A lot of surprising names on there though, especially Jay-Z, who I can't believe is older than Q-Tip. Rick Ross also apparently didn't have a career until he was 30. Certainly lends those Ross was a prison guard first rumors a whole lot of truth.
It's also interesting to see how many of these guys are way old but are still doing lame songs about coke (looking at you Fat Joe and Busta).

Yea its pretty sad, fans just can't let these old washed up rappers go and accept any new ones.

Nah, It's sad that half of these rappers kick these newbie asses.
-
what about rappers over 40?
-
PROOF! the youngin's need to step their game up! ;)
-
this is why i prefer our urban scene its mostly 19-25...wiley gets ragged on for being thirty
-
Most of these rappers were killing it in their 20's too. When they were young, they stepped up. The younger generation ain't stepped up. Game, G. Malone and Bishop Lamont will be in the 30+ crowd sooner than you think too. New West will be the Old West just as it gets kicking off.

on the real!

I think it's more funny that people look at 37 as being old. I'm all for cheering on the youngsters who break into the game in their early 20's but I hardly see 40 as being "too old to cut it". We definitely need the younger faces as well to keep the game fresh but in the same sentence, if someone didn't get on until they were 28 or 29 then why should they retire at 35?
The one thing that does kind of surprise me is the cats who are older or the same age as some of the more established artists. For instance, from a career perspective, you'd think of Nas as being older than Eminem because he got on about five years earlier but Em is actually older. Same with DMX and these other dudes.

not really...the youth are doing it but for example ppl would rather spend 3 pages talking about a washed up thirty year old gettin tea-bagged at an award ceremony

These are the first generation of rappers to grow old. Rap is still a relatively new genre of music. As it ages, so will the average age of your typical superstar rapper.

yeah but they dont quite have the talent the stars of other music genres have
-
I hate how some people call the rap legends old and washed up yet these are the same people who listen to Plies, Kanye West, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy, all over 30. No other music genre has an age limit, why should hip hop?

EXACTLY. Only a handful of that list are still decent rappers today.

The talent in rap is in the producers. Same is true for many other popular genres.
