wow! track is nice, and yessir XL never dissapoint's dude is very consistant with his music..
-
xl u hit me ova the head with this one....I'm sayin it now...xl is probably top 5 producers/musicians on the west...I swear this dude to me is doing what quik should b doing...to be honest if there was a big westcoast remix to this song I could see snoop and quik doin a verse on this....wit latoya williams on the background vocals backing up the sample on the hook....they don't understand this is not what everybody on the west is putting out..that feel good and grown shit...xl man someway some how I gotta see u mentioned as one of the next producers along with terrace martin, amplified...I mean what are those guys doing that xl is not..I don't get the politics on the west sometimes and the cliques and crews...xl drop a instrumental album on these fools man...
-
XL IS THA MAN!! that track is beautifull I can't wait for the next project..
-
XL is THE most consistent producer of real west coast rap. And he brings Clinton Wayne with him. This is my favorite duo whenever they do somehing.
I'll skip Blaqkout an cop this instead. :banana_trippin:
-
i noticed XL used DJ Quik's Drim kick from addictive, thats dope!
-
damn this was niice! :o

XL AND CLINTON WAYNE ARE DEFINATELY AN UNDERRATED 1-2 PUNCH LIKE NO OTHER ON THE WEST COAST... DEFINATELY IN MY OPINION BETTER THEN SNOOP AND DRE. XL IS DEFINATELY ONE OF THE BEST PRODUCERS AND COMES HARD WITH THE LYRICS AND ACTUALLY WRITES HIS SHIT INSTEAD OF A GHOSTWRITER AND CLINTON WAYNES VERSATILITY AS AN ARTIST EASILY PUTS HIM PAST SNOOP IN THE TALENT LEVEL CLINTON IS PROBABLY WITH CROOKED I THE BEST MC ON THE WEST.. KEEP DOING IT REAL BIG..

oh!!..Damn, I was about emailing Xl to see what he has been up to, it's been awhile,!
Glad i waited!!
Nice, Crisp and Fresh Beat!
But Xl, not sure the "Hey" really fits well in the hook, perhaps it's just me...
Clinton Wayne drops a smooth verse!
Auto-tune???...lol
minimum use is Nice!
Overall Really Nice!!
Thanks Xl!
-
it's a vocoder, no autotune

it's a vocoder, no autotune
You Sure??

You Sure??
im not sure but listening whole hook seems so
-
Great reviews...I would skip the blaqkout too...but don't u think u xl should be mention in the same breathe as amplified, terrace martin and all the other producers snoop afiliated...I think he killin dae one and he is placed on a higher ranking than xl...I mean on that real westcoast feel good music with the silky basslines xl got it locked man...and we got to remind ourself we only heard beats he put out..we ain't even got a chance to really experience xl instrumentation but through his releases we convinced of what he brings...but on anotha note I think clinton wayne and xl is a coo combination..the auto-tune is used clever gave it a futuristic feel without losing that old school edge...this is a anthem for all the single folks though...great audience to attack

MAAAAAN yall just made my day with these comments!!!! thats real i'm glad folks are feelin it so far....to address the mystery of the autotune vs. vocoder, yes that's the good ol' autotune on there...just a little sprinkling of it cuz after all, it's 2009 and ya gotta move ahead with the times...at the same time i'm just gonna continue to do what i do, which is really just to make music that i like...the reason u never hear me on the radio is cuz i don't push my shit to radio....dealing with those politics is way too much 2 think about, that shit would have me stressed 2 the point where i wouldnt even wanna make music LOL....so the new philosophy in 09 is to just say fuck it, make music that we think is good and that's all that matters at the end of the day.....
-
not the biggest xl fan but yeah he mos def always comes wit his style so at least hes not sellin out and goin to the south for that help that others are doin

Single Ladies Clap Ure Hands.... Good Shit Doggie. Its Good 2 Hear Something That Goes Against The Grain, And Shows That There is Still Talent On The West Coast Beyond, The Typical Stuff We Hear. Ure in ure own lane homie, keep pushin 2 the top. Respect 2 all artist, who keep sight of themselves as individuals...

What's good XL, that like I said b4 that track was dope, overall you got great music, and one of the few consistant producers out there, continue to bless us with that amazing music, oh and as far as ur music not being played on the radio, I've never heard the songs being played but, durring those radio comercials on power 106, I've heard them play ur music in the background, 1 of the tracks I remember that they played was "cashin out"

once again its much appreciated homie and yeah u are right they were using Cash Out, Feel So West Coast and a few other instrumentals for background music on some Power 106 commercials, that was a little side thing I had going for a minute...and @ everyone else good lookin on those comments!!!!!!! ill be back in a minute with some more audio 4 yall.....
-
track is really dope,I like XL's music with these Funk elements, thats modern Westcoast Rap
-
^^^shit yeah man but really its not even so much funk, its just music period...its been a long time since u heard a full live sounding arrangement with the pianos, bass, strings, horns, u feel me??? i'm on that real live shit right now, not so much fuckin with the analog basses and leads, givin that a rest for a minute just to switch it up...
-
yeah, but tracks like Shotgun, Pop Lock Funk, Gettin breezy sound like mixture of 90's G-Funk and modern music, thats why I like them...
-
hey XL u can do everything you want, u got ya style, and the Funk is inside of you, it don't matter which instruments you use, but the way you do it. KEEP UP THA GOOD WORK

What i like about XL is that he keeps doing good ol' westcoast music that we all love, updating it a lil' bit (auto tune) without compromising his sound
Cant wait to hear the new single.
Keep doing your thang XL 8)
-
hey wassup wit that Drunk Talk Vol. 1?
-
all the OGs should be spittin on somethin like this, not some shitty new beats that they made themselves (nigarachi) and try to comepte with the younger guys.
-

Hoodlum204 - Glad it grew on you!!! We gonna have the whole album available for free download, I want everyone 2 really know what a full XL Middleton album sounds like, instead of just a leaked single here and there...I think yall are really gonna be blown away by what we been working with lately...
-
this beat is pure heat! that's that feel good music right here! 8) it's the type of music i can enjoy everywhere,i really like the vibe of that song 8)
keep doing your thang XL! 8)
-
much appreciated homie...ya know ive caught a lot of heat from ppl who say the sound i got is outdated, but i think the smartest thing we can do is to listen to what's out there in the mainstream, then figure out how 2 work that into our distinctive west coast sound...how else can we as a region stay innovative, dope, and relevant at the same time??? plus u know that things go in 20 yr cycles, so going by that logic, were only a few yrs away from that classic west coast bounce catching on again in some form...
