Title: Hold Ya Head
Post by: Africandogg on June 10, 2009, 05:46:14 AM
I've been bumpin a lot of 2pac in the last 2 months and I got tell ya ths dude had his way with words. Main stream media might down play his talents bt u gotta give it up to ths man. After goin thru hs catalogue I gotta admit that there is no song in there that can go head to head wit HOLD YA HEAD frm the Makaveli LP. Ths tune is deeper tht everythang he has written.

My fave 2pac album is AEOM, and to a lesser extent Makaveli

LOL I know right, if anything the main stream media plays up everything he did on the SUPER large scale. From being a "Profit" to a "Gangster" to fucking BLACK JESUS. lol Honestly, sometimes even those insane dick riders are not as bad. They didn't make it up, they just swallowing it up. lol The media on Tupac is no way in any shape of form playing down him.If you honestly think that, get off the biggie smalls board.

Don't want to change the subject on this because I too have got in to Pac's lyrics when I've been really high, but you should probably broaden your hip-hop horizons a little more on that point you made. Biggie had one of the best albums ever before he had any beef, if anything a lot of people don't like him for no reason (possibly yourself included) because of the Tupac beef, so I definately wouldn't say he profited.

C'mon dude, not feelin the dude doesn't mean I'm narrow minded. Its quite disrespectful to label a brotha before understand who they are. I listen to a whole lot of artists besides Pac. I dig the whole Boot Camp Clik, Treach, Ras Kass, Crooked I and more. Not feelin biggie aint mean shit. Imagine me bumpin hypnotize! Fck no I don't do jiggy shit.

lets not get crazy here my friend

Biggie had better word play and rhymed words better, but his work ethic was pathetic (the nigga once walked out of a studio when Stretch and Pac were recording Who Do U Luv because he couldn't write something to fit the beat!!) and his style was all the same

Pac could rap about any subject and sound fresh, and dude was a music making machine

Biggie had better lyrics and he had better flow, and I'm already regretting having to come out and say this shit. I don't care about whatever kind of slant on it people here want to come up with, because lyrics and delivery are all that really matter when it comes to real hip hop. I love Pac but I'm honestly getting sick of mainstream rap fans talking about him like he's some kind of messiah and hating on Biggie for no reason even though Biggie is probably the best rapper of all time. You guys really need to wake up and get a life. The people here who listen to hip hop objectively can at least have a proper discussion about Pac without sucking his dick, but unfortunately 80% spend their lives hanging on the edge of every lyric 2Pac ever spoke. 2Pac isn't Jesus and he isn't going to absolve your sins. Get a job or something.

Figures 1 fucking comment sparks a entire "war" lol Let me say this....."East"..... lol Honestly I Don't bang Biggie.Just doesn't appeal to me, but I'm not some retard who can't show his respect. He's got flow, and lyrical Ability. Tupac had Emotion, and was spreading him self to a lot of topic. From Gangsta Shit (All Eyez) to Street problems (basically of his albums lol) to emotional and personal (MATW) and to something deeper and bigger beyond the ghetto (Makaveli). He also had a intense work ethic (the fact he has over 9 albums worth of material says a lot).Do I think he's a great? Yeah. Highest selling artist in the world, did amazing stuff beyond the mic when it came to helping people. The fact some of his songs can really make you think. Does that mean biggie = shit??? No. Biggie was late in the game, had a different work ethic/process, and was taken out to early.Same with Tupac. They both got taken out at the top of their games. So they never faded, which is why they will always remain greats. Because we never got to see them fade, or change their style or ever see whats happening to every other artist happen to them.Their deaths, is what solidified their carriers.

I watched tht movie notorious n the way they potrayd Pac was jus bad. Was he tht crazy? They puttin the blame on him tht is biggie's death. And to tht hater who thinks biggie is the greatest rapper EaT a fat dick n bump mase to ur grave. Don't change the subject. We talkin one of Pac's greatest songs, u couldn't even write a better lyric even if ur life depended on it.

i love Biggie man, shut the fuck up.

Biggie's the best rapper of all time?? are you smoking crack?  Big L, Kool G Rap, Rakim, Big Pun, The GZA, Nas are all better emcees FROM HIS SAME CITY

and I may even put Big Daddy Kane and KRS ahead of him, but I won't.  Oh, and Redman...he's from jersey but I'd still prefer his body of music to Biggie's.  peak quality they're all great but Biggie provides a horrible catalogue.

you probably just watched the Notorious movie and came on here posting.

oh btw i have a job, thanks for being concerned with my personal life though :)

Eminem is now the highest selling hip hop artist of all time

only because death row stopped paying the RIAA to keep track of the record sales of ALL EYEZ ON ME and MAKAVELI :( :(  :(

That should have been Interscopes job. They can try to re-certify 2Pacs back catalouge again, but with the 2Pac being the highest selling Hip Hop artist ever statement being based on figures that wern't necessarily printed and authenticated fact from sources such as RIAA makes it difficult to be accurate. It's said he sold over 70 million albums worldwide. Eminem over 75 Million? Could be BS, but I've seen 2 places that confirm this. One is not trustworthy though

But a lot of people that over-hype 2Pac get all emotional over it. I don't see the problem, at the end of the day, if his highest selling title is beaten, then so be it. I'm surprised he was the highest selling for so long considering the fact he's dead, and has been for well over ten years now. Even if iconic figures like Elvis Pressley were to have albums released today, they wouldn't sell past 1/x2 platinum, simply for the fact that the artists aren't here to promote the work themselves. Unless it's a genuine greatest hits album with promotion, or a wheem of material at the one time, it has no chance in selling big numbers.

Jay Z wasn't that far behind either

I agree, a great track! I'm sure pac would of sold more copies if they weren't all remix albums! I was never a huge BIG fan but I got his albums they still get regular rotation. If they re-released "Still I Rise" "UTEOT" "Better days" "LTTG" & "Pacs Life" all tracks in there OG format I'm sure each album would go platinum again!!

Peace

Only bad reviews for the album, is that the second disk was filler unneeded. I agree, I mean if 2pac had just taken 3 songs off disk 1 (what's your phone number, Skandelous, All about you) and switched it with "All Eyez on Me, Thugs Passion, and Can't See Me" it would easily been universally praised. Dispite the filler, the filler is actually pretty good. I mean each track is very well produced, and rapped. Just the main complaint was all the hits were on the first book. I got no complains though maybe Whats your phone number, honestly I've never meet anyone's who's liked it.I think What's your Phone # is possibly the most hated tupac song.

here's the downside of all eyez on me:  LIL HOMIES + DON'T FALL ASLEEP + STILL I RISE were all left off

meanwhile "whatz ya phone #" and  "heaven ain't hard to find" somehow get left on

2pac should really have left those 3 songs in place on it....ATLEAST ONE OF THEM over whatz ya phone #

i see nothing wrong with disc 2 - WHEN WE RIDE is the best song on the CD
