Santana, Halladay...the rest
-
ive never heard of Sabethia...is he any good? ;)
-
I'd go with Halladay, he just dominates every start and is so efficient. Santana and Lincecum throw some nasty stuff but walk more batters and don't throw quite as many innings. Halladay has some of the best control in the history of the game.
-
what the fuck? No Zack Grienke? His numbers are as good as anyone else this year. He started out the year 7-0 with a 00.00 ERA. I know he plays for the Royals but don't forget... WE ARE TECHNICALLY A MAJOR LEAGUE TEAM
-
lolllllllllllllllll
i think Grienke is just this years cliff lee
-
Santana hands down.
Doc is a close second.
-
It is between Lincy, Santana and Doc. I can't really decide lol.
Cain should definitely be on this list if Billingsley is

exactly and same with grienke
I gotta go with Doc Right now, hes unhittable
-
:o :o :o
how could i forget Lincy?
but honestly, if we were rating them by numbers it would go:
Johan - 10
Doc - 10
Lincy - 9.7 lol
he's like the smallest step down to them in my opinon, but that's crazy concidering his age.
-
Lincecum is nowhere near Johan
he'd be more like a 9.0

LOL at nowhere near Johan :D I bet you Fits would disagree with that
Lincecum tonight threw a complete game shutout 8)

No.. Grienke is for real. It's not a fluke.

honestly, he has to prove it lol.

This isn't the first year that he's been good..... in 2007... He won about 14 games (which is a lot when you pitch for the Royals, I think they were near dead last in hitting)
-
he won 13 games , 10 losses and an ERA+ of 123
LOL @ comparing that to Johan or Doc Halladay last year
-
If Grienke was a Yankee Hack would be sucking him off right now. Look at the verbal ball washing they gave Joba after last season. And Grienke is for real. Coming up he was called the next Greg Maddux and he is finally living up to the hype. Grienke is for real but no one will notice him until 4 years from now when his contract is up and people like Hack and Cham will be saying Zack was destined to be a Yankee.

Word... and his ERA is 1.70 which means he is leading the league. So how can he not be on the list when he has the best ERA?
-
ive said it before..and ill say it again...NO ONE fucking with Grienke this year.
instead of saying hes "this years cliff lee" how about hes "this years lincecum". ;)
-
Greinke has come down to earth a little bit after his amazing start, and he is still pitching really well. The Yankees fans are just bitter that they dump all that money into a rotation that includes Wang and doesn't have a top 5 pitcher. I'd be mad too.
-
Grienke has been the best pitcher this year, but that doesn't make him the best pitcher in baseball. He has to keep this up longer to surpass the likes of Santana and Halladay.
-
^^That's pretty much my stance on it. If we're choosing who starts the All-Star Game then it would have to be him. But I think Halladay and Santana are 1-2 for how long they've been dominant. I also think Halladay will end up with the better season and Cy Young over Greinke as long as his injury isn't serious.

did you read the thread title?
"BEST PITCHER IN BASEBALL???"
Grienke is not the best.
Johan, Doc & Lincy are hands down, no brainer, better than him.
if everyone i just named are 5/5 pitchers, Zack is a 4/5 pitcher.
& he better put on the pinstripes before he retires! ;D 8)

Cain and Lincecum are DEFINITELY fucking with Grienke this year lol, Grienke hasn't been all that in his last few starts
-
^yeah Cain is easily as good as Grienke.
-

exactly - some of these guys are just slow
-
I dont think people know HOW GOOD Cain is..How many Pitchers get better in the stretch? Cain is SUCH A COMPLETE PITCHER
-
lol he's just a #2
-
lol he's just a #2
hes a number 1 anywhere but here Toronto, and New York
-
Cain complete game today! 9-1 with 2.31 era, easily the best pitcher in the MLB this year 8)
Lincecum and Cain the best pitching combo in the majors, that can't be debated
-
lol he's just a #2
hes a number 1 anywhere but here Toronto, and New York
Boston? Arizona? San Diego? detroit? philly? seattle? la dodgers?
and from what i've been hearing, would he be an ace in kansas city? (if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to here it....)

pitchers better than Matt Cain:
Johan Santana
CC Sabathia
Danny Haren
Doc Halladay
Jon Lester
Josh Beckett
Jake Peavy
Tim Lincecum
Chad Billingsley
Cole Hamels
....im gonna stop here when i shouldn't
not taking anything away from MAtt Cain but lets not let two months blind someone into thinking he's better than Johan freaking Santana
-
^^LMFAO, Thanks for the good laugh! Your argument about "2 months" and then putting Billingsly on the list is priceless lol, step it up.
I will repeat myself again, 9-1, 2.37era and 3 complete games
-

::) wow.
i'm no Dodger fan keep in mind. Matt Cain ain't shit compared to Billingsley and you know this. Lincecum on the other hand, that nigga is crazy.
-
How can you say Matt Cain is not close to Billingsley!! Where is the logic in that statement? Now Lincy is better than both because he won cy young last year and has been amazing again this year but lets compare Chad and Matt this year. Same amount of wins but Cain has better era and 2 less losses, you saying Cain isn't shit compared to Billingsley is making it difficult to take you serious here.
-
whats cains k/bb ratio?
-
whats cains k/bb ratio?
not as good as Chad's but he is still strikeout machine and with 2.37 era that stat doesn't mean anything. Billingsley is great but to say Cain isn't shit compared to him is plain laughable.
-
billingsley gets slept on.
if it wasnt for some pitchers putting up better numbers, he would win the cy young. ;)
*yes, for the slow ones, that was a joke*

Chad has been great, him and Cain are on top of NL cy young race right now and then Lincecum followed by Johan. Still 3 and a half months left so we will see 8)

yeah..theyre comparable..but bills has certain better stats, and vice versa.
if bills would just have confidence in his stuff, he would be #1 in the mlb...but i still think he trys to strike everyone out..and sometimes that gets him in trouble. he'll learn tho..in 2 years, he will be in that #1 talk :bandit:

A LOT of great pitching this year...no doubt about that...sucks to be a hitter in the NLW...Lincecum, Bills, Haren, Cain, Webb, Peavy..jesus. no wonder the NLW isnt all that good when it comes to hitting ;)
has there ever been a tie in the cy young voting?
EDIT: nvm.. "There has been only one tie in the voting, in 1969 ( Mike Cuellar of the Baltimore Orioles and Denny McLain of the Detroit Tigers), and that prompted a change: Instead of voting for one pitcher, writers had to make first-, second-and third-place choices. Only seven times has a writer ever split a vote between two pitchers, and there's no need to do so this year."
-
lol he's just a #2
He is actually in the slot as our #3 starter 8)
It's not a one-year thing though, he has been good since he came into the league but he was a victim of the worst run-support in the league. There's a reason teams were trying to get him last season around the deadline and this offseason. The top 2 pitchers had rough weekends, hopefully Halladay's injury is no big deal. As for Santana, I saw a rumor about his velocity being down, but I think he will dominate his next start.
-
People saying 2 Months is a Joke, Check his last 2 years great years with ZERO RUN SUPPORT

i stick with wat i said..
on the dodgers he would be a #2...simply for the fact that bills is homegrown..and they have similar numbers. bills would get the opening day start nod over him in a heart beat.
