"Despite the heavy airplay at some Emmis stations, Sheist's CD is a commercial flop, selling fewer than 10,000 copies since its Sept. 10 release, according to Nielsen/SoundScan."

Rest in Peace :-\
::)
Come on...
Do you really think that just cause his album hasn't sold as well as expected, he's gonna say fuck it and give up?
Hell no.
I SINCERELY hope that shade puts out many more albums cause his new one is one of my favorites of 2002...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
agreed, his album was dope but just like the Knocturnal, it took way too long to release it. Stupid record labels should learn from their mistakes but they dont ??? ??? ???

WORD! I FINALLY Received My Copy This Week, Its Dope, Surprised Me. Like That "West_C_Internal" Guy Was Sayin, Shade Goes Deep In Places & Shows Some Real Talent, Shame Some Will Overlook It Because His Voice Is So Quiet. In Some Places Its An Album For The Headfones To Appreciate Some Of His Lyrics. I Find It Hard To Belive It Sold So Few :-\ Although It Was A Poor 1st Single.

Members, please don't fall prey to "Good-Ole" Chuck's (Phillips) persuasion. He has been working on this "scandal" piece since the official release date for 'Informal Introduction' was set. It is clear that all of this was an attempt at downplaying the shine of success from a young businessman. Shade's critics have always hated the fact that he has been able to do so much, so fast, so young, but have failed to realize that he has built his network from the ground up (no pun intended). Chuck Phillips is a "hoe" to gossip, and he knew he was posting inaccurate information. Shade Sheist sold a little under 10,000 copies in his FIRST WEEK, not OVERALL SINCE SEPT.10. (Information courtesy of Soundscan- go figure.) An artist does not have an international #1 single, a Heavy Rotation 1st single w/Video, and then follow-up with 2 simultaneous Top 10 singles (with a video on the way- yes, you heard me correctly) and sell that little. C'mon yall, he got 3 out of 4 stars in USA TODAY! I hate to mention that the only reason he sold that few initially was his record label (MCA) chose a very inconsiderate release week, and also shipped less than 40,000 units total nationally. All of you that had trouble finding a copy of his album the first week, raise your hands (raising my hand). So, don't worry about Shade doing his best imitation of his brother DJ Quik, cause he isn't suffering at the moment. Added, for someone who has been doing this since the age of 11, I seriously doubt that he would make it this far only to contemplate giving it all up. Not likely. Look out for "Hard In The Paint," the first single from Shade's righthand-man N.U.N.E. feat. Caz and Knoc-Turn'Al, "Wake Up (The Reemix)" feat. Butch Cassidy, and Irresistible (The Remix) feat. Mariah Carey (on Mariah's upcoming Japan-released version of "Charmbracelet") (Note: "Irresistible" samples the Ice Cube Classic "You Know How We Do It." The US released remix features The Westside Connection.)

You guys act like the "Damizza presents" album never came out. It was basically Shade Sheist's first album..and of course had "Where I wanna be on it" as well as tracks with TQ and Krayzie Bone..but most of the tracks were Shade.

agreed and on point with your whole post homie. big ups. you mean westside connection did a song with mariah or did they do the remix with shade? if you put it that way i take they recorded a song together

This is a huge surprise...I was expecting at least 100,000 after the heavy rotation of "When I Wake up", and the smash hit from two years back "Where I Wanna Be"...
But maybe that's the problem...It was a smash hit 2 years back...2 years back is when the people were looking for his album, no one cares about it now...I dunno what else to say...It's just a shocker, that's it...PeACe

2 words.... First Single

7 out of 10 is still a Great album. Shade did lose some of his momentum thanks to MCA holding up the release of his album since June 11, but to say that "nobody gives a fuck about him now" is harsh and the farthest thing from the truth. "John Doe" and "Wake Up" releases have more than made up for "Money Owners," and his album sales have made a huge leap ever since the first L.A. Times article about him released. A new video is in the works, and I'm sure it will receive as much airplay as the last (Money Owners.) All of these new records and features won't hurt either. You haven't heard the last (or the Best) of Shade Sheist yet. Stay posted for a statement from Shade, which I should be receiving any minute now from his manager. I will post it the second I have it.

So if Shade sold a little under 10,000 in the first week, what's he at now? Does anyone have sales figures?
