Pretty shitty, fuck record sales though these days numbers dont mean shit. Doesn't mean its a bad album coz of the sales, people focus far too much on how much the record sells.

Yeah like Lil Waynes music is the best because of his record sales. It wouldn't mean shit if this was a westcoast masterpiece, it still wouldn't sell.

you guys have to understand that people don't listen to this music anymore.

if it isn't on MTV or BET people won't listen or buy.

my boy asked me if i knew Jay Rock (like i wasn't suppose to know) because he thinks he's "mad underground".

but he showed me All My Life with Wayne & i wasn't surprized at all, it gets play on the radio all the time because of Weezy; if you don't have Wayne, Pain, Kanye or Drake; nobody is goin' to hear your music lol.

yeah it's "gay" & "that sucks", but it's just the way it is now.

They needa go on tour and promote the album, they'd still be able to sell out some shows! Doesn't Tech Nine sell a fuck load that way?

I haven't bought the album yet cos I havent seen it instores over here, I also haven't downloaded it, so when I do see it, it's a must cop....

Well I do know Quik has sold out every one of his Quik's Groove shows, tickets for that are $30. the House of Blues holds 1000 people so that was $30 grand for last sat night alone. I know he doesn't get %100 of ticket sales, but that is showing what LA fans are spending to watch/listen to Quik. I've been to all 3 Quiks grooves so far, all have been worth it.

T.I. & Game are the only two real rappin' MC's left mainstream that sell.

but even T.I. sold out with "Whatever You Like"; big, bitch singles sell.

Im assuming your high right now, either that or just plain arrogant.

Kurupt is making some GREAT tracks lately. Have you heard "This is how we play" prod by Fredwreck. He has still got it, dont you worry about that.

He is still SICK live and he can still sell plenty of records. If you dont like it though, dont buy it. You obviously downloaded this album to have an opinion that Kurupt was a  "dissapointment", why download it if he sucks huh?

Go back to listening to Weezy, TPain and Drake. Enjoy.

Well, if that 213 album that Snoop put out a few years back were to come out today, it would only sell 50,000.  It's amazing how bad rap music has been hit by downloading.

On the other hand, artists make most of their money by touring, so fukk the sales.

Honestly, I was all set to buy this record.  Hey Playa was not great, but good enough to get my attention.  9x Outta 10 is solid, as is Do You Know.  Three weeks before the album release date we were all fiendin for the album.  The Into instrumental snippet sounded like some old school p-funk that we all love.

And then the song snippets came out about a week before the album dropped.  What a buzz kill.  Only 8 listenable songs?  :-\  This really made me nervous.  Then the album leaked in full, and I had to download it to preview the album because the song snippets had me nervous.  Sure enough, the album turned out to be so meager.  It's really not worth $10, especially when I have a lot of other Westcoast classics still to buy (e.g. Nobody Can Do It Better, Get in Where You Fit In, Death Certificate are all still on my "to buy" list).  And when it comes down to it, BlaQKout just isn't worth my $10 over something like Nobody Can Do It Better that I could spend it on instead.

These days there are so many back catalog albums to buy that it's difficult for newer albums to compete for my money, unless they are really good enough in quality to compete.  But which albums these days can compete with the classics that are competing for my $10?  None are.  I suspect that plays a role, too, in today's poor record sales.  It prevents me from buying a lot of newer releases.  I only have so much money to spend on rap music, you know?

Kurupt will come out with $25,000 approx. and DJ Quik will come out with double that. Not bad for a risky album if you ask me.

Kurupt's "eat a dick, Bitch Bitch, eat a fat dick, BITCH, dont make me switch, like a snitch, Bitch, eat a dick" lines all the time. For a collaborative joint album that'd sell, and that I'd buy, would be:

Artist:DJ Quik & Warren G
Title:  The G-Funk Trauma

Features: Talib Kweli, The Game, El Debarge, The Twinz, Ray J, Raphael Saadiq, AMG & Keyshia Cole

Short Note: The long awaited collaboration from the 2 producer rappers who's identifiable sound created a ground point for West Coast rap through out the 90's to current time have joined forces to create a masterpiece.
Containing a massive 18 track effort with features such as The Game, & Keyshia Cole, this wont be an album to miss

^^^^^

Get an album like that, then I'd pre-order 2 copies easily!!! The line up is straight classic west coast sound being combined, with some new West names as well to be giving shine to younger artists (Cole, Game, Ray J - new west) Raphael Saadiq would ensure his track was soulful, and nice sounding to the ears....

To come out with some futuristic spaceman BS that no one even gives a shyt about, or even asked for, featuring a washed up MC like Kurupt, it doesn't exactly entail the impression of a WOW album to go out and buy.. Hell I haven't even bothered to download this because what's been shown so far sucks in my eyes, and in my ears... I mean where the fk did this joint album come from??? lol, I sure as fk never ever asked for it. I want balance & options, a Rhythm-al-ism, hell even a 'Trauma' because they ALL sounded good, and were all experimental in terms of music!!! None of you can say they wern't, but at least they sounded good, and not like this pile of shyt we got, with some wack freestyle spitting MC on it

You do know that Warren G is switching his style as much as Quik or even more?

Everything always seems to happen too late. I mean if we look at UFC's "biggest matches of all-time", all these fights woulda been big 2-3 years ago but now at least 1 out of 2 competitors are not in their prime or are washed up.
It's same with these rappers:
If you made Quik + Kurupt album 10 years ago, it would have been a classic & now it's just good. It would've also been that west coast sound that you people are always trying to re-live.

If you really think these rappers that had their prime like 10 years ago are gonna make some classic best album ever now, you are just stupid. Make a Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre album now and no way it will go with peoples expectations. It would propably be good but would get slaughtered for not being the caliber of Doggystyle or The Chronic.

Noshit why the fuck buy if you can download for free....
Allot of people started downloading because the state of the economy...

Blaqkout didn't even drop in my country lol

To show support, and to allow the artist/producer know that you like the product enough to purchase it, and perhaps encourage them to continue that trend

I suppose that's why we haven't seen a Snoop or Dre album. Plus, Dre doesn't like putting his name on garbage, and maybe that's why we aren't seeing Detox yet. Some of Warren's new shyt sounds better than what Quik does though, and sometimes the talent coming together helps to improve others

i thought the songs i heard were pretty wack. Tbh quik and kurupt arent the big names they used to be, and if the quality isnt top notch then reviews will put people off checking for it. If they had dropped a pure classic and itd got 5mics or loads of hip hop heads were talking about how dope it was then sales woulda been higher.
