One dick head a few day back argued that Doggystyle was not snoop album and most are hating on his success. Argue that Kurapt is better and have the best verse in Doggysyle. Fuck u, listen to tha shiznte, Gin & Guice and Gz & hustlers.
Anywhos Snoop dogg this the best mainstream Artist the Westcoast every had. 9 solo albums and almost 20 million in US sold. He has change the game of rap by his laid back flow that u can chill too and will make it bigg time for his 10 once. 16 years and still relevant, what more can u ask for from the King of the west.

none of tha shyt u just posted here means anything homeboy, the best westcoast artist to ever come out tha westcoast is ice cube (solo) & n.w.a. (group) so kid go back to tha playground and keep succin on snoop lolipops.....u a wrap....
-
Ice Cube is a legend in the west but he did not keep the west moving like snoop, like i pasted he have drooped plat albums in the late 90s and beginning of 2000. when Ice was doing nothing. But snoop always have but the west on the map for the last 16 years by drooping alteast 1 album every 2 years.
-
wait are you sayin snoop has had the west on lock the last few years?

if NWA never broke up and S noop worked with above the law, who knows if he'd even be relevant
-
IMO he might not be known to the "gangsta rap world" but IMO he would have gon industry made sooner or later

he woulda been a gangsta rapper
but would he be anymore famous than above the law?/
-
prolly would cuz he would be doin "what the industry wants and gettin pimped by them" but thats what im sayin he wouldnt be able to stay true like (young maylay, king t) and not sell out, even tho he would like to and tries by releasin gangsta records every now and then or hookin up wit gangsta rappers

It's hard to say. Timing is one of the most important things in terms of making it and it's very difficult to imagine what Snoop's career would have been like if he wasn't paired with Dr. Dre. But his success was definitely no accident. It's easy for people to act like Snoop being removed from Dre equals him being wack but that just isn't the case. He gave a lot back to Dre as well in those days. Dre was definitely the guy with the touch on the production but it's not hard to see Snoop's smooth style influencing his work. When you compare the prior N.W.A. album with The Chronic, I think musically, you can hear his production style evolving but the big thing you notice with Snoop in the picture is the lyrical delivery is much smoother. There's no denying Dre's part as the production genuis in all of it but you can't sleep on Snoop either. As much as every producer was influenced by Dre at this point, every rapper was trying to do what Snoop did. In 2009, it's easy to gloss over that but Dre and Snoop were a team. It wasn't Dre carrying Snoop.
It's hard to know where Hutch would have gone with Snoop's career without knowing what his plans were. I think the Dre situation was perfect because with that, they kind of needed Snoop. They were a new label that needed a young stable of talent. They had Dre as the recognizeable producer they could sell but for it all to work, they needed a superstar they could groom and Snoop fit that perfectly. Without him, you haven't got a Death Row. With Hutch, it never quite felt like he was getting pushed the way he needed to be in the wake of Dre's departure. I don't think he was in a spot where he would have been able to make Snoop a star. At least, not the way that Dre and Suge did.
-
groupie ass thread.
snoops career is on the decline i appreatiate his body of work but he got that mc hammer syndrome
OVER EXPOSURE.
-
'95, you weren't even born yet when Snoop's career blew up
-
You can say what you want about Snoop, but I bet 99% of rappers would love to be in his shoes...I think hes still very relevant in todays game.

I put this topic not bc i was hating on Kurapt or anybody, infact i luv Kurpat but same times it fucking stupied to talk once creadit. Snoop may not be dope as doggystyle but still nobody is after 20 years. when u get older and make lot of recorded, people expectation will grow as the year goes on and when it stop meeting that it decline. If people stoped comparing every snoop album with doggystyle, they would not be taht much dispointed with the new records.
-
LMAO

lmfao at this kid mispelling his idols names in every sentence.

no this isn't an English test. If it were you would've studied your ass off.
you're right it is a west coast hip hop forum, but that doesn't mean you can ignore everything you've ever learned in school, plus in hip hop lyrics and rhyming are key elements, so most rappers probably have great language capabilities, For example jay-z used to study a dictionairy.
-
Yeah i dont understand it either bro , Snoopy been the man on the Westcoast for years , and he still sells major records . How could you hate Snoop Doggy Dogg ?
-
its easy to understand when you taker into perspective how shity his music has been lately.
kurapt too...lol
-
Snoop fell off over ten years ago and he's a hater
-
some might argue he holds the west back...
this is what i think...i think that hes had opportunities to hold the west down in between dre albums and hes dropped the ball with that and like dude mentioned he is a hater...he hates on young rappers trying to come up and he hates on rappers that he fucks with once they start to blow.
-
i forgot to say no homo
-
Snoop only co signs artists on the west that have no chance of blowing up like bad lucc and damani and nipsey. Then holds back people like soopafly from getting exposure.
-
Stop bitching about Snoop not "co-signing" your favorite artists. He does what the fuck he wanna do now, he has made his name & artists. He co-signed Eastsidaz and brought Dogg Pound. So what if he don't care to work with these younger rappers, is he obligated to? NO. It's pathetic how people always gotta bitch about something. "I'm gonna cry because Dre is such a sellout, he brought Eminem & 50 Cent and they aint westcoast, HATER. He aint giving Bishop any push, yada yada."
-
Well he refers to himself as the king of the coast but does nothing to help it all. He's done way more harm to the west then good
-
He's done way more harm to the west then good
Like what, besides beefing with Crook.
-
the answers you seek can be found all through the thread...you will see them once you wipe snoops nut off your eyes.
-
LMAO.
That's not becuz U think he's still at his best that he is.
IMO, he fell off big time.
& I agree with what has been said through the thread. Not becuz he's one of ur favourite rapper or ur favourite that he's still on top & all. He's done there's quite some years now.
Until he'll come again with that Gfunk laid back song, he will suck big time with those Sexual Eruption, whatever song he did now.
