Raptalk.Net hooked up with the chef Raekwon for an exclusive interview. Note that since the interview was completed, it has been announced that the album has been pushed back to September 8 2009.
As you can expect, the interview is HEAVILY focused around the upcoming release of "Only Built for Cuban Linx 2" on September 8th 2009. We discuss how it feels for Raekwon to finally be releasing the album, and if he is concerned around it perhaps not matching the hype due to the countless delays.
After comparing the upcoming sequel to the first classic street opus, Raekwon tells us how he thinks he's grown as an artist since the release of the timeless "Only Built for Cuban Linx."
Creativity is something Raekwon feels is lacking in Hip-Hop right now, something you'll read all about when it comes to Rae's thoughts on Hip-Hop right now, and also how the upcoming album is creative and if that was a personal goal of his.
After talking about the album's production and guest appearance surprises, we discuss the Aftermath situation and why it didn't work out. How much work did Dr. Dre do on the album you ask? Raekwon touches on that as well!

Creativity is the main key? Hmm, I find it hard to believe. He tells that people who liked 1st album will like this too but what is so creative about that? Yeah, he maybe took his time with this record but he was basically trying to set to that mindstate when that 1st album was done, what is new and creative about it?
It is gonna be that same good WU-standard as it always is but I don't expect nothing else. At least it comes as a surprise if it's some next level album of the year shit.

Raptalk.Net: You’ve worked with Crooked I a bit recently and even said that you two have more tracks coming in the near future. What about Crooked I has lead you to taking such a liking to him and his style?
Raekwon: I like Crooked I. I liked Crooked I before I even dealt with him. I feel that he is a good MC. At the end of the day, he knows his history about Rap. We’re big on the west coast. He’s definitely one of the top MC’s on that side of town. He’s doing his thing. For the most part, we relate to all real niggas all over the world. Crooked I shows his skills. He’s representing the west coast but at the same time, I feel he fully represents real Hip-Hop niggas. That’s why we got together and came up with the shit that we came up with.

Good interview Luna. Thanks for posting this. At the end of the day :), OBFCLII will be a classic. Most interesting thing was the "Shaolin vs Wu-Tang" project. I remember Rae talking about this after "8 Diagrams" (which is a great album, IMO) was released because some Wu members were disappointed with Rza's direction on this album. Would love to hear what they come up with for this album (apparently, they wanted to do a Wu album Rza-free and prove that they could capture the vintage Wu sound w/o Rza, lol).

it was done about 2 weeks ago. The album only got pushed back a few days ago.
