Let me try this again.
I DID NOT WRITE THIS SONG, LOL.
I just think it's important to post the lyrics.
It's not a cover but what do you think of this band using elements of his song in such a manner?

Imagine that this time
of the liars peace
is over now forever
Imagine that the taste
of the total war
fills the atmosphere
Imagine that the glare of thousand fires burning
brings the day of judgement to this weaklings paradise
Imagine that the power of thousand nuclear pyres
radiates for the glory of our armaggedish will
You may say that I am a dreamer
But for sure I'm not the only one
Cause Black Metal Terror won't stop
Until the great Masskilling is done
Imagine that a word, feared by masses of today
Holocaust becomes the law of tomorrow
And imagine that we it's disciples
Become the rulers of the World
Imagine our reign of terror and bless our names with holy words
Holy is deathruction!
Holy is Genocide!
Praise our Images of God
For we are the Gods of War!

how is this anything to do with his murdered? this shit is fuckin gay and its a smear on the amazing song that is image, almost pisses me off as much as when a perfect circle covered imagine horribly and in the video showed terrible videos of violence, war, etc. people just need to leave the song as it is, an amazing utopian view of the world by an amazing artist

The older I get the stupider I think he was politically. It was probably all the drugs he was on. I don't hate the song, (the original Imagine), the melody is OK, the lyrics are just way too pretentious and silly for me.

but its not like its meant to be taken fully serious, its just a dream of a utopia

Every interview I've seen of that guy makes me think those were the beliefs he wished the world had. Some utopia. Bunch of sissy fags sitting around doing nothing. Never killing anything and never feeling they have anything worth dieing for. That nihilist attitude would not lead to a utopia. It would to animals reigning supreme over humans, because they would kill, and die, for their survival.
Then again he was an addict that beat up his family before he walked out on them. So maybe the song was tongue and cheek.

i dont take it seriously, and thus i cant really critique it like that, its not a 'practical' song, but even if lennon read brave new world i still think he would have made it, i cant attest to his actual feeling towards that life, but hey, he def was a BAD addict at that time and was pretty wacked out, so im sure for some point in time he did, doesnt change the way i hear the song though

Fair enough. Maybe it's more the hippies that praise the song for being "so true" that bother me more. And by hippies I mean late teen early 20s idealists going through the worst part of their leftist phase.
