Title: Isn't it funny,
Post by: Chamillitary Click on July 13, 2009, 05:02:15 PM
how some Superstars get shitted on, but then it seems like every role player (besides a few real bad ones) gets love.

for example; Peyton Manning is one of the best QB's in football, but he is generally called "the best", so people only praise him.

but then you talk about Brady or Romo, people say "they suck"; you guys did your fair share of talking shit about these two in countless threads last year.

how do they suck though? clearly better than 90% of QB's in the league, but they suck?

but then a guy like Rivers or Collins, nobody talks shit about. is it because they aren't concidered elite? is it when you're "elite" you're compared to the best & look like you suck? then when you're just average & play good, you look amazing?

i just don't get it.

same goes for other sports, like LeBron to Kobe, "the best".

I understand what you're saying. You have the "best", absolute "best" in that particular sport, or at that particular position. Everyone else that is close to the best get a different treatment so to speak. A Peyton Manning fuckup is far different from a Brady/Romo fuckup because Manning is considered the "top" quarterback in the league by many.

Manning throws 4 picks in a game, its a bad game; while if Brady or Romo, who are top tier QBs in their own right, throw 4 picks, "they suck". Its because more is expected from them I guess.

Just like Kobe/Lebron, but in their case its more 50/50. Lebron is looked at as the best in the NBA, so if Kobe goes 6/22 its because he sucks and is not a team player, not because he had an off night and vice versa

^exactly, golf has it where if Tiger fucks up, whatever; bad day.

but anyone else blows a lead or some shit, it was a choke.

same in Tennis with Fed.

Baseball; Pujols is concidered the best hitter in most peoples eyes. off night? ehh, get 'em tomorrow kid. A-Rod goes 0-5, he sucks forever. if he goes 4-5 & k's in the 9th, he sucks even more lol.

it's just weird.

It's not that big of a secret, some players are liked while others are disliked.

just because you're disliked doesn't mean you're bad.

Peyton - best QB

Romo & Brady - suck

Kerry Collins - good QB

Romo & Brady are hands down better than Collins but they "suck" & Collins gets credit like he's really good lol.

but do you really think some fans mean the "they suck" literally?  Right now if I go to a Dodger vs Giants game, in either SF or L.A. all you're going to hear is "X team sucks! X team sucks!"  Even though they have a good chance of meeting up at the NLCS this year so they obviously don't suck.  It's just the way it is.

i mean even under ESPN's microscope & shit. they talk bad about A-Rod, but never about Pujols & some average player gets good write-ups.

it's like they can't appreciate superstars skill unless you're the absolute best; if you are placed in the same elite class as the best, you suck; but if you're below elite and pretty good, you're just awesome.

If you're talking about that, then I wouldn't know at all lol.  I don't watch any of that type of coverage, not to sound like "Im the shit" but I trust my judgement on players than 95% of sports analyst on TV.  The same goes with mainstream reporters and beat writers.  Most of these people aren't good at what they do, but they sound like they do.

it's all good, i don't blame you; but i happen to watch ESPN & it's shows a lot, so i just hear the type of media certain players get.

it always seems like the superstars who aren't the clear cut best get shitted on, but i guess they have to make it interesting for people to watch.

its because the media are snakes and im not just talking about sports im talking about everyday news. people are easily swayed by the media and the more outlandish the headlines or the stories then the better it is for them. plus when there constantley berating someone its because people are wanting them stories, just think of michael jackson, once one story was written about him albeit truth or flase, every subsequent story gained attention because people were wanting to read it so the media keeps it up regardless if its warranted, youve also got too keep in mind with sports journalists they have to "create" there own news.

To me it also has to do with overall talent.

I don't know the first thing about American Football or Baseball. I don't know those players you listed.

But let's assume Brodo and Ramy ( ;) ) are mad talented, but still fuck up sometimes are, albeit being equally talented, not nearly as good as Peyton, even though some dicksuckers claim they are. Of course there's conflict.

When with Collins, even his own mother knows he's not as good as Peyton, and it's also common sense that he's not as talented or gifted as the real elite players. But he's a class act and gives his all, a team player and hustler who does the best with what was given to him at birth. Less conflict, and more love because he's maximizing his potential instead of  being a cocky prick who fucks up all the time due to lack of effort, focus and discipline while still thinking that he's the shit.

peyton manning shits on the rest of the QBs in the NFL - just imagine if HE were the QB of the patriots...they'd have 5 or 6 rings this decade
