Earlier today we did a quick recap of recent Bishop Lamont leaks, and we're back at you with an exclusive. Bishop just sent over the untagged, CDQ version of "Nothing Could Be Better", the Battlecat & 1500 Or Nothin produced joint that had leaked recently. The song features Suga Free, Butch Cassidy (without autotune!), Chevy Jones and Bokey.

I know all the West Coast heads are gonna eat this up, it's good to hear some funky Battlecat music again. Check out the mastered, untagged version below. We have both the dirty and the edited version, for all you DJ's reading this.

Dirty: Bishop Lamont - Nothing Could Be Better (ft. Butch Cassidy, Suga Free, Bokey & Chevy)

Bishop also recently shot a video to a new track called "Err'day In The Streets", produced by Scoopdevile, look out for that to drop next week.

You know hip hop has sunk to a deep level when headliners say songs are untagged.

BUT this song is dope! I can't even remember the last Bishop Lamont song I was impressed with.

tracks like this give me some hope that his album will still be dope, if it ever comes out. especially if this is a leftover...

well the leaks won't stop.

also, just because a track is labeled as a leftover, doesn't necessarily imply that the quality is less, than tracks that do make the cut.

i just dunno what to think about bishop any more. he drops some bangers, quality joints, then the next minute his flow is all lazy or he's on some corny kinda track.

seems like the longer he's been working with dre, the more he's learning to become a 'songmaker' and sound like 50 cent on records. problem is, 50 isn't a good rapper any more, nobody wants to hear that shit. 'city lights' is a great example of his flow being mediocre, lazy, uninspired. i'd like it if bishop just came with the raw shit, cause he obviously can.

the joys of being signed to interscope

yeah i think it's safe to say that the lazy flow is not a signal for lack of talent: apparently there's a philosophy behind the lazy flow  i don't think anyone has brought this up in an interview.

i do know that bishop sometimes raps for the "bitches"  ::) this has always been a part of him, so it's not new at all.
by the way, was 50 cent ever a good rapper then?

anyway, Dr.Dre & interscope definitely influence the musical direction of bishop's songs, but i really think that bishop is mainly responsible for the lazy flow.
not to mention that it was him, that had put out "singles" with a questionable musical direction, after Grow Up.

which is why i think that bishop's output wouldn't drastically change if he took the independent route: he could gain more freedom, but he would still be the same artist :-\
it would be hilarious though if he decided to put out two EP's: the lazy flow EP & the fireworks EP  :D

50 used to be alright. get rich or die trying was a decent enough album (questionable that so many people think it's a classic) but it was before that when his rapping was most competent. a more laid back, funky flow and some nice rhyming.

bishop has a different style, spits more like a typical lyrical rapper (not a bad thing) and to me sounds MUCH more at home with the faster flows and crisp delivery. if you listen to 'bitches on my dick' or 'city lights' he sounds terrible imo. worse yet, that 'you know the code' track'. i really don't like the slurring and extending of words for emphasis on those club style tracks, it sounds really forced and corny. 'hallelujah' strikes a good balance, but i much prefer the vibe and his delivery on this track here.

i said this before, but 'donkey kong savage' is easily one the best bishop tracks for flow/delivery and there's a great track produced by scott storch on pope mobile - 'all i dream about', where he rides a more laid back beat nice 8)

I don't have a problem if Bishop becomes a better song maker.  In fact, I think it's an essential transition from being just a rapper that can freestyle and becoming a classic artist.  If you master the lyrics and you learn to master cadence, vocal tone, pitch, note delivery, flow, etc then you can properly apply lyrics and flow.  Unfortunately, not many do.

Some people act like being lyrical is the end all, be all of rap.  It's not.  Sometimes writing lyrics that are simple but relevant and relatable is much more significant then dropping a hundred dope similes or metaphors.

Not to disrespect Slaughterhouse but this is what the group as a whole needs to learn...if they don't already know.  To me, Budden and Crooked-I are the two who act like being lyrical is all that matters.  Budden needs to develop his entire vocal approach and Crooked-I does too.  Seriously, Crooked for the most part sounds the same on every track.  The last track he sounded different on was W's Down and was probably the dopest solo track I've heard from in a minute.  I think Royce is probably the best artist of the group and Joell Ortiz is on the route to being a classic artist.

Don't confuse this with hate.  I bump all of their music.  I'm just distinguishing what makes a classic artist and a great rapper.

Well said. Crooked has the talent and he knows he can kill a track but he need go trough different approaches. For Budden, I've never felt dude. Exactly what you said, his vocals block his lyrics. Plus they shouldn't have the attitude like "we're the best and every song we make is a classic", they need to focus on their project and make it a masterpiece.

about 50 cent: fair enough ;) i agree with your rating. yeah the classic stamp says more about the fans than the album  :D

anyway, about the songs you listed: i hear you  ;) On Top Now is another example, and there's more, but we both know what we're discussing so there's no need to list more

this flow doesn't make the songs unlistenable for me, but it does take away some of it's shine, especially when you know what Bishop is capable of.

worse yet, that 'you know the code' track'. i really don't like the slurring and extending of words for emphasis on those club style tracks, it sounds really forced and corny. 'hallelujah' strikes a good balance, but i much prefer the vibe and his delivery on this track here.

to be honest with you, i don't even know how you know the code sounds anymore, but i do remember that i turned it off quickly   based on your description, i think it's better not to check it again  ;D
by the way, that way of rapping you just described, is also on Kissin' the curb: it's really out of place.
well i actually prefer Hallelujah, but that's just a matter of taste  8)

as far as the flow on All i dream about is concerned: you probably like the flow on Music shit as well ;)
and the one from i'm a warrior/Toe tag

anyway, i guess some bishop fans should be executive producers :D
