Title: Tha Realest - Do What It Do.....DubCC has to acknowledge this.

I know that net fans have hated on Tha Realest fervently for over a decade, accusing him (not without reason) of being a Pac biter.I used to do it. But in recent years I recognized that his music is incredible. I've noticed he's starting to get more respect on this forum, but he still is not treated as being in the same category as most of the more popular West Coast rappers. But listen to this track. Peep his flow. How can any real fan of rap not acknowledge that this is some dope ass shit? And it doesn't stop here. "Get It N," "Y I Keep My Burna On Me," etc., can not be dismissed as mere Pac biting. The man makes better songs - not verses, but songs - than 90% of other rappers alive right now.

I love Quik and Kurupt and other Westcoast legends, but its worth saying: Witness Tha Realest is a better album than Blaqkout. I DL'd both and sure as hell am not buying Blaqkout. But I'm copping Witness Tha Realest.

You're going to catch a lot of flack for that.

I know. I love Quik and Kurupt and I think "Ohh" and "Fuck Y'all" and "Blaqkout" are among the dopest tracks of the 21st century. But 4 or 5 good songs + skits and crap does not make a good album. Witness Tha Realest, on the other hand, with 17 solid and diverse tracks, IS a truly good album.

Only reason you say he has better songs then whats out and his shits on another level is cause HE BITING TUPAC LOL! Hell look at the Hail Mary 2003 shit, 50 Cent bites Tupacs enter verse and it still sounds golden. but Honestly no matter what The Realest will catch flack do to past actions. If you can look past the biting you'll probably be a fan do to his style being Tupacs. If you can't (which most people can't) He'll just be some biter. In the end Realest won't receive the acclaim as other artist around his time do to the Tupac Controversy

Not quite. I think you missed my point. I'd willingly concede that other rappers can spit a better verse than Tha Realest. There are verses from Kurupt and Crooked I that Realest will never be able to touch. The point I'm making is that Tha Realest is able to make a better full track than most other rappers. Just listen to "Y I Keep My Burna On Me" and you'll see what I'm saying: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsR0JZDIrO8

People don't make tracks like this anymore. If anyone else has tracks like this, point em out to me. Real is in a league of his own right now and people on DubCC ought to acknowledge it.

Also, if you look at my post history, you'll see that Tha Realest is not "my rapper." I'm sure I've posted much more about Kurupt and Quik on this forum than I have about Tha Realest.

I added the album to my playlist, listen to it once, then I listened to my songs on shuffle, heard a Tupac song I didn't recognize and was like wtf is this Tupac song, and it was a Tha Realest song. Anyway at first listen this album was bad and thought I wouldn't give it another chance but on a second bump it's getting better. We'll see how it turns out.

im new here and really dont like posting in forums in general simply not because of the opinions but rather because of the ridiculous amounts of negativity and hating . now with that being said i just want to say CONGRATULATIONS to tha realest on his album release yesterday ! the album is a certified BANGER , of the 17 songs theres only 5 that i dont like but the other 12(!) are str8 FIRE ! im from the midwest and normally dont even listen to westcoast music (not because of my taste but moreso because with the exception of 1 or 2 cds here and there its just not much OVERRALL quality coming from there) but this album is bumpin and has all my friends and i rockin with it . DEFINITELY 1 of the westcoasts BEST artists (who cares about the hate,im sure he doesnt) , CONGRATULATIONS REALEST !

Its a solid debut album.Theirs a few track that feel out of place and out dated probably because they were recorded so long ago.I was hoping eurry now and then would be on this I dig that track.

"Eurry Now and Then" just didn't connect with the rest of this album the same way it did 2-3 years ago. A good chunk of these tracks (8-9) were recorded within the past 2 years, and Eurry Now and THen was the single when Realest was originally gonna drop this in '07.

With that being said, "Mind of Ah Madman," "N Luv With A Ghetto Gurl," "Grown Ass Man," and "Witness Tha Realest" were all recorded in 2004, but those were deemed too good to be left off the album when it came down to picking this final tracklist.

Much love to Nima for posting about this album in Tuesday's release post on DubCNN, and much love to anyone that has been willing to step outside the box and give this album a serious listen, despite all the negative stigmas that have been attached to Realest's name over the years.

I said it many times, I'll say it again: there's no way any honest hip hop fan cannot find something they like on this album.

hey what the does the original khaled produced version of "witness the realest" sound like and why was it reproduced? after reading the credits(yes i copped it) it says produced by blaqtoven, originally produced by dj khaled. this is one of the best grimey tracks on the album. thats kinda false advertisement for the online promo saying theres khaled production.
what about tracks that never made the album like the ones he did with snoop,b-legit,richie rich etc??? we gon hear em on future albums or will they be leaked?
man team dime/rbc needs to step their promo game up if they want this to sell, no videos radio push etc???

Blaqthoven added some new sound effects to it, and overall made it sound a lot cleaner, but that beat was definitely a Khaled beat, I was there when he played it for Realest and Joe the first time.

When it came down to mix the project, Blaqthoven added his own lil twist to it, and made it sound a lot better. Even though it says "Originally produced by Khaled", it should say "Produced by Blaqthoven and DJ Khaled," because that beat pattern was brought to the table by DJ Khaled.

cools... also who produced "y i keep my burna on me?" i noticed they forgot to list the producer under the credits for this track in the booklet. is 1500 the same production team that did "dopeboyz" from The Games "LAX" album?

Sounds like 2Pac.  Not just the voice, but even the way he puts certain inflections on words i.e at 54 seconds in he says "I had my bad days", at 1:03 "immortalized, I could go on and on.  Why can't he just have a style that doesn't imitate a legend?

He needs to make his own style.. something he can own for himself.

Tupac died in September 1996, he was signed in 1997. Anyone who honestly think that even if he met Tupac, That tupac would be cool with him is a moron. I mean he went off on Biggie, cause of how he stole the I'm gettin Money persona (and the same sample used for Who Shot ya was on another Tupac track around the time). So would he really give props to a nigga who looks, acts and does the same mannerisms to him?

At the time he went by another name and I'm pretty sure didn't bite until suge was using him for the second Dynasty, but tupac is rolling in his grave cause people think tupac be cool with this cat. Even if they was cool, if tupac was alive right now seeing this you know he would call the nigga out....so doesn't matter if the realest ever met tupac...

if u sound like some1 then im sure that aint yo fault but theres other rappers who try soundin like pac n use production equipment n shit so i wouldnt say the realest is a biter in that sense.. anyways why the fuck does every1 have a problem, i think his music is one of the best in this moment of time!!!!

now u must have heard about cristiano ronaldo, soccer player- who uses the same skill, trickery and foot movement like the brazillian ronaldo- does that mean hes a biter???

tha realest has respected pacs legacy on numerous tracks n the tattos n shit mean fuk all cos the guy was a pac fan and heavily influenced by him.. is it biting if u wanna play n dress like yo favourite basketball player???
grow up!! theres plenty of fakes in the game to expose than argue over some petty shit..

Lets break this red eye fuck down...

1. Only thing realest can't control his looks and his voice. Everything else (mannerism, way he talks in interviews like pac, and tattoos, laugh, style) all that is biting.

2. Only fags watch soccer

3.Difference between fucking respecting and fucking straight copying. The Realest is IN the game, he doesn't need to dress up and play, he is in the game he can make his own legacy.

4.True

5.Only reason he appears to be the best in this moment is because hes using tupacs style..

6.Besides of Tupac was alive you know realest wouldn't even try this, hell if Tupac came back to life or fucking out of hiding (which ever) and saw this, he'd fucking release Hit em up part 3. He disses biggie just because he was doing the "I got money" persona. Do you think he would allow such blatant copying?

I'll agree its not all the realest fault. Suge probably had some influence on his style, but we have to remember also, Suge Knight was only signing second generation rip offs (Realest and Top dogg) to try and appeal to the original fans. So really his ass got KIA before he even had a chance.

I just purchased 2 new copys of Tha Realest's album from Amazon, and I'm classed as a Realest 'hater'  ::)

Couldn't quite buy 3 copys like Phil, but I have 2 kids mouths to feed, 2 cars, and a 5 bedroom house to pay for, and I'm struggling with the recession too. I was struggling to pay for 2Pac/DR projects but still managed to pay £30 for this. Don't regret it, because the album sounds hot, but I still have my doubts Tha Realest personally

He still has lost feelings for Eminem, in the song "Y I Keep My Burna On Me", he mentions about people being "feminem". I thought his shout out to Dre, and having his album directed by a close assosiate of Emienem's later albums that he wouldn't be displaying those kinds of shots. I doubt to see any kind of positive Aftermath opportunity people spof of previously

1500 is the same production team from Game's "Dope Boys". They're also the same group that produced Jay-Z's "Show Me What You Got"

"Y I Keep My Burna On Me", I can't really speak on who produced the track, the name was kept off the album for a reason.

It's too bad, because if this producer had allowed his name to be placed in the credits and advertisements, it would have boosted sales MAJORLY, and everyone on this forum would have been going ballistic. It's someone you all know and really love, I'll leave it at that  ;)

Maybe someday it can be announced publicly, but its staying private for now.

Um, that makes no sense, I've never heard anyone refer to someone as "feminem."

He was saying "feminine" as in having female tendencies. I'm telling you, people are looking hard for things to nit pick about this album, just enjoy the album for what it is.

And whether anyone wants to believe it or not, there was heavy Aftermath influence all throughout this album. Mike Lynn, the A&R for Aftermath personally chose to get involved in this project as the A&R, with no promise of any major financial turnaround in terms of sales. A good majority of the album was even done in the Aftermath studios. With that said, you can be guaranteed that there'd be no reason for any dissing. Infact, there was no dissing what so ever on this album.

1500 is the same production team from Game's "Dope Boys". They're also the same group that produced Jay-Z's "Show Me What You Got"

"Y I Keep My Burna On Me", I can't really speak on who produced the track, the name was kept off the album for a reason.

It's too bad, because if this producer had allowed his name to be placed in the credits and advertisements, it would have boosted sales MAJORLY, and everyone on this forum would have been going ballistic. It's someone you all know and really love, I'll leave it at that  ;)

Maybe someday it can be announced publicly, but its staying private for now.

Didn't DJ Quik produce Dope Boys, and Just Blaze Show me What You Got?

I haven't bought 2 of these albums to sit through them with a fine comb, and I haven't mentioned anything negative about any other song on the album

In due time it might be public knowledge, but for the time being it has to be kept under wraps.

Just Blaze handled the arrangement on Show Me What You Got, but in terms of the actual instruments being played, it was 1500.

It got love from a few, but there wasn't really ANY promotion professionally going on with it. I'd say around 5 to 7 K. Judging on how many copies his fanbase bought. LOL.

Do What It Do is prolly the weakest track on "Witness Tha Realest" - Real should really stop rapping fast on beats like this.. But "Y I Keep My Burna On Me" sounds like a Dre beat to me 8)
