Title: XXcLusive: Snoop Dogg using ghostwriters for Malice In Wonderland
Post by: pootypooty on July 16, 2009, 01:24:14 PM
http://www.xxlmag.com/online/?p=51989

No one can say Snoop Dogg isn’t honest. XXLMag.com caught up with the West Coast legend to speak about his upcoming album, Malice in Wonderland, and the Doggfather revealed that like his last album he will be recruiting the writing talents of other MCs for the project.

When asked if he will be digging into his rhyme books this go-round, Snoop told XXL that instead he will be the mouthpiece for other rappers’ words. “I got a couple of my little homies that’s putting the pen to the paper,” he shared. “I be letting my homies get on by writing and expressing they thoughts through me. I be letting them have opportunities to be a star through me.”

Although it presently doesn’t have a release date, Snoop says he is about “50 to 70 percent done” with the disc. “I’m trying to finish this tour up and then get back home, do a few things to tighten it up,” he said.

The album, which Snoop describes as a “feel good record,” will be released by MTV. As far as the music, the Long Beach rep says “It feels good, back to the basics. I mean, I don’t do all that hyping, that ain’t my thing. I just go to the lab, drop a single and then drop another single, then drop the album. If you fucking with it, you get it. if you ain’t, you ain’t.”

So far Malice in Wonderland features production by Ty Fyffe, Scoop Deville and Drumma Boy.—Eli Mancini with reporting by Clover Hope

Well he is honost i admit that, but i am afraid its gonna be another average album. First single something very different and the other singles that dont catch the audiance. I am pretty sure his album is gonna be very mainstream becouse off mtv. Its cool he wants to be different and that he mix alot off music styles on his albums, but he should not do everything so complicated. He should stay true to his original westcoast music, instead off all these sidesteps...

But anyway its his 10th album so i realy hope its gonna be realy good and not to special.

^^ correct. AND THAT IS ALSO " GHOST WRITING ".. plus the chorus is really what makes GAME anyways. you pay more for a hook , than someone to write your 16 bars.

Not sexually erupting, no medicine except purple, and not being a Snoop Dogg millionaire.

Uhhh Snoop wrote a lot of his earlier stuff....he had D.O.C. Daz, Kurupt etc writing stuff too, but Snoop use to ghost write for Dre back then. He wrote Deep cover, and he wrote a lot of Doggystyle. Now days its a different ball game, but my point is that he has paid his dues and has been there and done that, from ground up.

I think that Snoop and DOC write Snoop's best shit. Snoop doesn't need ghostwriters and that's why I think it's fucked up he is using them so much. He may not be the most lyrical cat out there but he can write dope shit for himself.

Been lovin Scoop Deville's production recently.

You can hear on Ego Trippin' that Snoops got Scoop D's style on the tracks he produced.

Could be considered emulating his sound, ghost writin, or just a straight collabo.

Damn, having my doubts on this album now :-\  Why cant Snoop stick the script?  He always have dope original ideas when he announces a new album, then changes it up!  First it was going to be a dark, gangster type album, now its "feel good music"  and Ego Trippin was supposed to be just Snoop with no guest spots....Guess we'll have to wait and see...

So if you have people making your beats AND writing your rhymes - then really you're just a name and a voice. Fuck Rap.

The reasoning behind the ghostwriting thing is kind of weird. He wants other people to blow up using his vocals? I don't know about that.

As for the Game-50 deal, I don't think 50 has ever seriously implied that he wrote Game's lyrics. What he has maintained was that he pretty much gave him songs that already had the beats and the choruses built in and were already "hit records". I can recall several interviews where he has said Game is a good rapper but doesn't know how to put together a hit record if the format isn't already established by another artist or producer. I've never heard anyone say that Game uses ghostwriters.

that be weird to go at lil eazy, when you dont write your raps lol

Yup even 50 said Game can Rap his ass off. I don't believe that Game using a ghost writer thing, theres been no proof and people just seem to throw it out there randomly like its fact. Check the liner notes, usually just the producers and Games name there...

yeah i mean i never believed it game looks like a rapper that could write his own raps, but i cant remember everything 50 has said on camera (bout game and games first album in which 50 claims bein heavily involved in, especially all the singles)
but then again if he helped him write the first album, (assumin only 50 helped him) who helped him write the albums after that......lol  (50 not bein there, unless the traxx were from the first album era)
