AP Source: Bobcats, Hornets swapping centers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AkNKTNtqSegWdrXSpu6u.Qc5nYcB?slug=ap-hornets-bobcatstrade&prov=ap&type=lgns)
Persons familiar with the deal say the Charlotte Bobcats are finalizing a trade that would send Emeka Okafor(notes) to the New Orleans Hornets for Tyson Chandler(notes).
The swap of centers could be completed later Monday, two people told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because an official announcement has not been made.
The Bobcats will be giving up the only starting center in franchise history for Chandler, who has been plagued by a left toe injury. Chandler played in only 32 games last season and a trade to Oklahoma City was rescinded because of concerns over the injury.
The deal comes less than a year after Okafor signed a six-year, $72 million deal with the Bobcats.
AP Sports Writer Brett Martel contributed to this report.

I wonder why Charlotte would do this?....I mean, both players are on the same level, but Okafor was their franchise big...its evident that New Orleans has been wanting to move Chandler, so this is no surprise on their part. Okafor is better offensively and Chandler is better defensively. they're both similar in terms of skill, though. pretty even swap.

Emeka was a beast defender!

I don't understand this move at all, Okafor has really been coming into his own.

they both were...chandler still had the slight edge on d, though.

didn't Tyson go down last year?
he was on my fantasy team, he was hurt & then came back and did shit. :-X

he came back fine....i think he was limited by the coach more so than by his injury. he claimed to have felt fined and put up nice numbers when given the minutes.
it must be a contractual thing for charlotte....tyson chandler expires after 2011. okafor still has up until 2014 and he's owed a lot more money.

I think this was a bad move on Charlotte's part. I like Chandler but with his recent injury plus the fact that it was already known New Orleans was trying to move him, it just seems like giving away Okafor was an overkill.

OMG okafor and cp3?? jesus

I can see that the cats would do this for the capspace, but still, it's not a very good move imo.
