I don't think I've ever met a Jay-Z stan. Em has stans, Nas has stans, but I don't think there are that many jay stans.
-
I know of one.
-
not on this board, but in the world? yes.

Game apparently found some and embarassed them in the UK ;D. I know some ladies that love Jay like that but not too many guys though.
-
My boy from Jr High was. Dude was a die hard Jay-Z fan. But I will say this, he used to say Jay was the best ever before it became the cool thing to say.
-

Cham don't lie now..
im only messin

Call me 1 if u want. Jigga 1 of the best ever.
-
Not really.Sometimes it seems the idea of jay z being a legend and one of the best was something the media came up with and forced down peoples throats.I own most of his albums but he isn't that great. He just happens to be a pop artist. And he owes a huge chunk of his career to fame dash.Let's face it who the song that really launched jay z was hard knock life and dame was the man behind getting that beat.Dame gave kanye his chance when jay wouldn't and kanye is the only thing keeping jay relevant today.Add in the the only quality artists that signed with rocafella were signed by dame.all jays artists flop.

Jigga 1 of the best ever.
co-sign all the way!
Reasonable Doubt is a top-notch classic. 8)
-
3 classics
Reasonable Doubt
The Black Album
The Blueprint
1 near classic
Vol.2
2 shitty albums
Kingdom Come
Vol.3
1 GREAT album
American Gangster
1 average album
The Blueprint 2
3 classic albums, still a legend imo
-
near classics to me, not on the same level as Reasonable Doubt or any other top classics; but AMAZING albums, no need for all the hate. :-\
Kingdom Come & American Gangster weren't bad to me either, i don't know they were hated on either.

Vol.2 is def a near classic, would be a classic if it wasn't for the 2 wack pop singles. Black Album a classic imo, same with Blueprint. Blueprint 2 sucked now to think about it, make it 3 shitty albums.
American Gangster is your classic old school NY raw sounding album. Loved it.
-
no doubt & if you look at the most recent Jay tracks, BP3 is going to be a real nice addition to the "Jay Disco." ;)
minus "Run This Town", but that's all part of the formula; so it doesn't worry me, dude wants to sell.
-
You thought vol 2 was good?I thought that album was fucking terrible.Easily his worst album.Terrible beats, lazy flows,no subject matter.I think black album is his best album and even that had a couple skips on it.Blueprint is a good album but extremely overrated. And kingdome come was better then American gangster.
-

Good in a cheesy mainstream way. Vol.3 or BP2 definitely worse imo.

No rap artist should ever do a double album
-
I'd put Jay-Z as one of the greatest based on longevity and discography. Lyrically he's no Nas, but he's still an above average emcee and excels at making quality pop songs (there's a difference between quality pop and trash pop). 3 classic/near classic albums, and almost all of his other albums are decent.
I think most Jay-Z fans feel this way. I haven't met any Jay-Z fans who go around saying hova would destroy every other rapper lyrically. Like the Em and Crooked groupies on here do.
-
No rap artist should ever do a double album
unless your name is Tupac & you're releasing All Eyez On Me. :P

because Jay isn't a true lyricist, just a dope all around rapper.
but no rapper could have fucked with Em in his prime, i'm not even a stan lol. :P
-
I won't count Black Album as a classic, simply cause of Change Clothes. Horrible song.
-
Reasonable Doubt is on a whole nother level in terms of lyrics. Blueprint and The Black Album are dope as well. If others get called a legend for one classic then Jigga definitely deserves to be somewhere in the best rappers of all time.
-
RD is the only true classic
-
RD is the only true classic
Yep.
Blueprint was horribly overrated, the Black Album is great but not a classic.
-
Yea Im one. I catch alot of heat from my homies. They like "damn nigga, all you listen to is Jay-Z", "listen to something else other than Jay-Z". Meanwhile they bump their Gucci Mane..
-

Haha True that or UGK- Underground Kings was a personal fav as well!
-
Yeah but even both of those albums could have been made into one really amazing disc
-

Yep.

-
Pretty ridiculous question, I'm sure even Spider Loc has groupies.
-
I guess I could have been called one, Jay-Z has so much wit and charisma on the mic, so many bars with double meanings and what's more the guy is a lyricist effortlessly painting vivid pictures and he is one of the few to even bother penning 3 verses in most of his songs. Granted his flow has become lazy, no doubt about that (especially Kingdom come and American gangster). However if we are talking about great albums of his...... Blueprint, Reasonable Doubt, Black Album.
I thought Hard Knock Life is retrospect was horrible, Life And Times Of S Carter, a very good album, his second album was so so, The Dynasty was a really enjoyable listen but that album was basically a marketing attempt to promote his other artists. The Blueprint 2, has about a dozen very good songs on it and this would have received much more positive views if it had been a scaled back one cd album.Having said that, I felt that Kingdom Come was an assault on my ears and American Gangster....I just came away from that feeling disappointed, a combination of production and the whisper flow, which just got annoying to me.
-
Any mother fucker can have stans of their own.If Soulja Boy can have stans anyone can.
-
American Gangster....I just came away from that feeling disappointed, a combination of production and the whisper flow, which just got annoying to me.
See I don't get it. As a Jigga fan, I was so damn pleased with this album. That's the type of production I ideally wanna hear Jigga rap over. Sean C & LV made some real old school NY sounding, grimey, raw ass beats. The production reminds me of some RD shit. "Pray" is definitely a Jigga classic.
-
his flow on Fallin' & Party Life were amazing.
some great cuts off AG. 8)
-
Well if their wasn't any before I see a couple in the making.
-
I lost a lot of respect for jay z after american gangster. He took a chance on kingdome come and made some grown folk music.Lyrically i think it was a great album bogged down with some lame songs. But everybody was like wheres the drug talk and so he made american gangster.Man i dont want to hear about that shit from a 40 year almost billionaire. The album was boring drug talk.
-
reasonale doubt was boring.
fuck jay z
also i knew a BUNCH of guys in highschool that would slob on jayz if given the chance.
-
Are you kidding me ? the Allhiphop forum is full of Jay groupies ... truth is Jay- Z is highly overrated by Eascoast fans as Snoop is by Westcoast fans ...
-
I like Jays music but I'm not a stan but it cracks me up when people try and discredit Jay. He is a great emcee with classic material under his belt but gets hated on because he knew how to make a hit and MTV got behind it. I crack up when people call Jay fake. Here is one rapper that before the rap shit was deep in the streets and he is someone that actually built himself up. Yet you idolize rappers that have never done anything illegal in life and still have to rent luxury cars for video shoots. Yet Jay is the fake one.
Reasonable Doubt >>>> most of ya'll favorite rappers careers
-
very good lyricist, but horrible/annoying sounding voice. definitely not one of my faves.
-
vol. 2 and blueprint 2 i loved....like personal favs. and of course the popular classics i love (RD, Bluepring, BA)
-
Pretty ridiculous question, I'm sure even Spider Loc has groupies.
wtf...whats wrong with with S-P-I? he the shit as far as im concerned nvr got the hate on him...
-
Every street credible rapper has groupies, it is one of nature's laws. If Dog Pound has groupies, Jay-Z must have groupies by the bucket.
-
Outisde of this board I know a lot of Jay fans, I've heard heaps of people call him the GOAT, I like him his shits dope, and hes made a lot of solid albums as Luna pointed out
-

I had a Game groupie at work. I was telling him that he is not that great and that there was far better rappers out there. Now all of a sudden he thinks he's shit. :D And now, whenever I show him a track, I always catch him playing them. He copies everything I like. :D
-
I always liked Jay Z, solid mc, with the exception of his recent shit. that shit is shitty ass shit.
Reasonable Doubt (1996)
In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 (1997)
Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life (1998)
Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter (1999)
The Blueprint (2001)
were all really hot albums, so I'll let that make up for his decline in recent years.
