A lot of action today in baseball.
-
Giambi was also released by the A's
-
Rumor is, its the White Sox that claimed Rios.

Jays will keep him anyways..for now
just want to gauge which teams have interest for a potential off season trade

they may also try to trade him now if a deal gets worked out and he waives his no-trade clause.
-
^i'm cool with that 2..as long as we don't let him walk for nothing lol
-
lol I hope not.
on a side-note, I was reading how the Jays rejected a trade offer from the Giants two years ago where we would've gotten Lincecum for Rios.....that came back to bite us in the ass lol.
what a rotation that would've been with Lincy and Doc; it would've made the best 1-2 punch.
-
well, it looks like we did let him get claimed for nothing.
Blue Jays OF Rios claimed by White Sox (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AmnWKzLrcN1IFzrkPGlAmXqFCLcF?slug=ap-whitesox-riosclaimed&prov=ap&type=lgns)
NEW YORK (AP)—Blue Jays outfielder Alex Rios(notes) has been claimed off waivers by the Chicago White Sox, sending him to a contending team and giving Toronto financial flexibility.
Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi announced the move Monday night, about 30 minutes before the Blue Jays were scheduled to play the New York Yankees. Rios was in the initial starting lineup when he learned the news.
Toronto did not receive any compensation for the two-time All-Star, who is batting .264 with 14 homers and 62 RBIs in 108 games.
The 28-year-old Rios signed a seven-year contract with the Blue Jays in April 2008 that guarantees him $69,835,000.
Chicago began the night three games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central.

Wow I know he is having a horrible season but I still think the Jays could of gotten a little something for him.
-
Rios has a ways to go, he's had promising looking seasons.
maybe a change of location is what he needs.
-
Rios, you get the dualey! (two figers up and turn em in the air) "You're outta here" bud, cya later :wavey:
or as John Gibbons would say "Hit the showers, Towers!"
-
I cant believe they would let him go for nothing.WOW.Why havent they fired jp a long time ago.Hes easily the worst gm in baseball. Now watch doc sign with another team in the off season
-
I refuse to sport my Jays cap till Ricciardi is fired. He definitely could have gotten something for Rios.
Rios isn't having a great season; but his HRs and RBIs are about normal and he's a solid base-stealer; plus he's had good performances in the three pas seasons.
-
Rios is having one bad year, hes an all star player and hes proven that. They gave him up for nothing.Im in shock right now to be honest.

I agree and feel the same way, along with frustration and disappointment.
Ricciardi should have waived Wells instead and stuck with Rios.
-
I would have liked to waive Wells and see if anyone would bite but it's not likely, he has a much worse contract of the two. I really hate J.P., I can't wait until he's gone.
-
I dont understand how jp has stayed around this long.He is a cancer to this team
-
As for 2010, I like what the Jays will bring to the mound but I have no clue who'll they have that will produce some runs.
Pitching will look like:
Halladay
Marcum
Romero
Cecil
McGowan/Richmond/Rzepczynski/Janssen
Downs
Frasor
Carlson
League
Accardo
Tallet
Roenicke
Camp
+ the three not making as the #5 starter
I don't know which of them will be free agents, I'm loving that list but...
C - ??? (not sure if Arencibia will be ready)
1B - Overbay
2B - Hill
3B - Encarnacion
SS - ??? (hopefully they resign Scutaro)
RF - ???
CF - Wells
LF - Snider
DH - Lind
-
geez...and i though the dodgers GM was a retard.
