want some good hip hop on my iPod so can anyone tell me the names of some good hip hop singles from the past couple of years. preferably recognisable ones (e.g. akon)...

Honestly, I think you're foolish by limiting yourself this way.  Additionally, most dope tracks aren't the singles.

Hmm, for the party kinda shit I'd go with the likes of I Get Money (50 Cent), A Milli (Lil Wayne) and Game's Pain (The Game). There's some mainstream shit for ya.
