Title: Warren G - G Files [amazon.com album sampler] = really terrible weak album

^^
listen to the snippets of the tracks here

---------------------------------

after hearing the album sampler on amazon.com, and i'm really disapointed.

the only good songs:
* 100 miles n runnin (this song is dope as fukk)
* lets get high (nice laid back track)
* suicide (or better known as "we came here to ride", from the 2003 true crimes soubntrack) (this is a recycled track that everybody got years ago)

all the rest of the songs are a real let-down. they dont sound westcoast gfunk at all.

"mr dj" & "gigolos get lonely 2" were tight songs, and it wouldve made the album better if they were on it, but he couldnt put them on the album supposedly because of sampling issues, and one of them he couldnt even remember where he got the sample from.

what happened to those other tracks that warren played in the studio on his ustream videos like that dope ass one with a bangin westcoast beat with dj scratches and turntables mixing in it. that was awesome. also warren had this laid back gfunk track with somethin on the topic about friends. that sounded real dope. the beat was tight.

i dunno, i was expecting a lot doper album from him after 4 years waiting for another warren g album. besides the 3 tracks i like on the album, the rest of the album doesnt appeal to me at all. it sounds too soft , and girlyish. i cant be bumpin this album in my ride, besides those 3 tracks i mentioned.

i think warren was tryin to go with a totally new more mainstream pop flavor with this album, but it dont wash for all the gfunk fans, who want to hear a straight gfunk album from warren g. we know he still got it to make dope ass gfunk music, coz we heard recent tracks by him that sounded incredible.

honestly, i dont think this album is gonna sell. i think warren was tryin to appeal to the mainstream pop sound, and expecting gfunk fans to be loyal and buy the album anyways, but warren g albums sell mainly from the gfunk music fanbase, but gfunk fans arent sheep. we buy his music because we like the westcoast gfunk music warren's known for, and this album is a pop album for teenie boppers.

and lets not forget that warren is on an indy label, so why he tryna make a pop album? maybe if he was on some major label or sumthin, it would make more sense, but his album is on indy, so he's not going to reach that audience without the huge promotion behind him that only major labels can give. but he's on an indy label, so he should just make the album for the fans of westcoast gfunk,.. his core fanbase.

i dunno ,... i guess warren most probably thinks he'll do what the fukk he wants, and how he wants, and "if you dont like the album then dont buy it, bla bla etc." , then fair enough. no one can force him to do anythin, but we'll see how long he keeps his gfunk fanbase, if he keeps going in this direction with his music to the detriment of his gfunk fans. lets see how well this album sells.

I'm sure some people here will pick this up.. not really my type of stuff though. Its almost like he lost his focus or something.. 2 very dope songs and the rest is blah and then using a bunch of guest artists again to fill in the time.

Warren G.. your fans want albums similar in the style of G Funk Era, Take A Look.., and I Want It All without a shit load of guest artists. You don't have do to G-Funk beats but dont try to copy the new shit.. also stop writing songs about Ringtones or being Swagger Rich.. normal people don't care about that shit.

Let's move past this one.. and hopefully Warren G can release some of the heaters he has sitting around..

the album isn't all that bad. i'm coppin sept. 29th. i think some of you guys need to get out of the 90's era already and quit livin this west coast east coast music type shit and just appreciate good music and stop makin it be regional type music. This is way better than the midnight hour and also better than most music thats being put out rightnow. There are some songs i think are terrible like "swagger rich" and couple others. But i'm def. buyin this album on the 29th. Thanks Warren

There is nothing wrong with the beats, maybe 2 songs that sound like less than average. There is already like 20 great G-Funk albums, go listen to them.

Now that is Warren G in 2009??? Let's Get High (feat.black Nicc & Travis Barker), 100 Miles And Runnin' (feat. Raekwon & Nate Dogg), Skate Skate (feat. Halla), Suicide (feat. Rbx) and Ringtone are okay. noting special.

We talk about a Warren G album and not about some unknown rapper who wants to make some cash. sorry warren but that is your wackest album. even in the midnite hour was way better then this

I just got through previewing the whole album,  to me its 4/5 MICS. It's a breath of fresh air, especially for fans of west coast rap.

"What's Wrong" and "Hold On" have a story behind them, "Skate Skate" reminds me of old school Warren G, "100 Miles & Runnin" is a great collaboration between the East and West and a great rap record. "Let's Get High" is chilled as fuck, "West is Back" is a smooth laid back summertime record, "Drinks Aint Free" also, which is my favorite on my first listen.

Seriously I don't have time for haters, this is 2009 not 1994. I enjoyed the old school sound, and in all fairness, Warren G is probably the only artist still putting out good music remenicent of that era. Snoop, Game and others release dope albums, but they all follow whats hot and. There's no Lil Jon, 50 Cent, Neyo, Timbaland, Lil Wayne, Pharrell Williams,  etc on The G Files, he's not following the 'trend'.... Swagger Rich is a term used nowadays, but that track is a superb slice of 'mainstream rap'.

..... fuck ironmike.... there isnt any wack tracks on The G Files IMO!

First,i see people talking about "in the midnite hour" , to me i was a good album with great features ( bishop lamont snoop dogg nate dogg ice cube breal raphael saadiq.. ) stop hating..

But it's obvious that when you have listened to his first records and when you a early fan, you expect much more from warren g.

i'm gonna wait to judge the album till i have it but you gonna admit that when you have waited for 4 years a warren album and on the new one you have only 13 songs including an old one and 5 songs already leaked, it's very frustrating and i get the people that are not warren g fan that are not gonna buy the album cuz i would have do the same..

so let's wait a lil bit to judge but it seems that warren g did not do the right things with the record even if the intention was right and the skills are still here: too many leaks, average songs like crush, bullshit topics like ringtone and swagger rich, guests not at the level we were used to ( remember "i want it all" ? daz kurupt snoop rbx mack 10 nate dogg JD etc.. ), only 13 songs, the war with the fans to have nate dogg on the record (we know that 100 miles and runnin was for somebody else).

i've listened to this sampler a few times now and my opinion's changed a little bit.

there's 13 songs, and right now, i'm liking about 8.  that's a little over half the album.  if you wanna count suicide, i guess i'm feeling 9 of the 13.  i frankly love the song, but i loved it 5 years ago, and i just don't get how it makes it onto here.  especially considering it wasn't even featured on midnite hour and that came out maybe a year after this song originally did?  all i can think of is that, back in the day, right about the time he made his JVC car speakers, Warren G was advertising the G-Files as his upcoming album.  Maybe suicide was recorded for that album, and since it was recorded for that album, he still decided to include it on the G Files album years later.  somebody should ask Warren about that.  i still haven't made up my mind on true star or drinks ain't free.  i need to hear a little more to judge it one way or another on those tracks.

9 outta 13 aint bad though.  still think crush sucks.  that aint changed.  never hated ringtone, never loved it either, it's an ok filler.  but this suicide shit is absurd still.  someone has to ask Warren why he included this?  it's 5 years old!  he didn't have at least one other brand new song?

and he made some dope ass beats for Jay, and why are they better than most his own?

I'm shocked at how many people dislike In the midnite hour, I used to love getting high and bumpin the album. I done quit smoking but that album takes me back. Bump most of it with the exception of maybe 2 songs. It was the first time I heard bishop too.

Me neither. Got my ears on Warren when "Regulate" came out and it´s of course a classic, but I think "In The Midnite Hour" is his best album by far.
