Derek Jeter has tied the New York Yankees record for hits held by Lou Gehrig. Jeter singled in the seventh inning for his third hit Wednesday night against Tampa Bay, matching Gehrig with 2,721 hits in a Yankees uniform.

Probably in 3-4 seasons. He is also only 48 hits behind Derek Jeter at the same age and that is taking into consideration Reyes basically missed this entire season.

1 no because David Wright still be the hits holder not Jose
2 who had more rings at that moment?
jose's career may be done btw

David Wright isn't the Mets career hit holder lmfao. That record still belongs to Ed Kranepool. And btw Wright only has 3 more career hits than Reyes. Really Hack is you're going try and hate stop exposing yourself for the moron that you are. At least try and look some shit up before you make yourself look like a fool. The rings argument, last time I checked baseball is a team game and Jeter got called into a great Yankee team while Reyes got called up into a Mets team that was in disarray. Also if you go by when Reyes got called up in 2003 which player has more rings ? Neither one has a ring. And Hack you don't even know shit about other baseball teams I should take your expert medical advice, fucking moron. It's hilarious, Jeter ties Lou Gehrig and I'm still on your mind lmfao.

It's not like he did it in less ABs. He's up there, maybe at the very top, for most ABs as a Yank, and by a lot when compared to the greats, so why shouldn't he have the hits record? Is he the Yanks best hitter ever? No.

it's def not the biggest accomplishment in the world but Jeter could end up with 4,000 hits by the time he retires

he'll stick around until he does it.
but he has to have solid 200+ hit seasons for the next 6 years.

He gets 4000 then that'll be something to brag about. We'll talk about that then.

I hate Jeter and think he is one of the most overrated players in the game but 3000 hits is something to brag about. Breaking the all time hit record for the NY Yankees is something to brag about. So what Lou Gehrig did it in less AB's. You disagree with people just for the sake of disagreeing.

jeter is over-rated in a sense that he simply does not compare with Honus Wagner as the best SS ever (nobody does) but yet some of my blind Yankee bretheren will treat him as "The best ever"
but he's very under-rated in the sense that he's one of the best offensive shortstops who anchored 4 world championship teams, is destined for 3200-3500 career hits and a .310 ish average for his career when all's said

i gaurantee a HOF spot on his persona alone.
