Damn. Didn't know that. I kinda wish they'd just release 4 discs worth of previously unreleased material. They've already released several different versions of greatest hits albums.
-
It comes out November 24th and is called the "Ultimate Death Row Box Set"

at 1st that price is like wow, but then you think about it, if you go to best buy and each cd is $9.99, plus we'll say a dvd for $9.99 as well, that adds up to $40, so this is in the price range for the 3 cd's and 1 dvd it will have.
-
i wanna hear some unleaked CROOKED I
-
i hope it worth the 50 $$$ and i hope its gonna feature a new tupac OG track
-
Im kinda dissapointed that their including a bunch of previously released crap.Deathrow already put out like 37 different greatest hits albums.Including a double disc one that came with a dvd full of music videos.

Shit sounds promising but let's wait with the judges until the tracklist shows up..
-
i wanna hear some unleaked CROOKED I
Same here. I hope we get some "Untouchable"-Era Crooked I tracks.
-
Greatest Hits, The DVD of videos to those hits, and a disc of unreleased. It's got my $89.96 lol
-
If they have to do a dvd of the videos, I hope they include some of the unreleased and lesser known videos. Like the "Me and My Dog" video by Crooked I or a high resolution version of the "How Do You Want It" beach version video. I'm assuming the 2pac videos are okay to use, provided they're all videos from already released Death Row songs.
Also it seems like there were a few pretty rare videos that were released on the old "Too Gangsta For Television" video that Death Row put out a few years ago. But I think a few of them such as the "Made Niggaz" (Alternate Version) cut off before the video was completely over. Maybe they could release full length versions of those, as well.
-
Why am I afraid we are gong to get something like "So Damn Hood" in this mix of "unreleased" tracks...
-
I am as big a death row fan as there is but only one CD of unreleased material? Fucc that, ill be downloading. Wake me up for the Pac and Crooked I releases.
-

That is disappointing considering that I have pretty much everything they put out anyway.
So, basically I'd be paying $45 for a unreleased compilation... As far as we know some of it may have leaked already.
Almost seems like the "official" FTPE.
-
so are we getting TWO unreleased music cds and ONE greatest hits n DVD
or TWO greatest hits and ONE unreleased cd???
-
Yeah it features your mother's twat.
:D
-
just got words that it has an unreleased Lady of Rage track "Midnite Hour" :)
-

What an intellect you are; posting an assanine comment to a topic that may potentially interest some people. This forum is full of people with knowledge and everyone contributes because they have a passion for west coast hip hop.
So allow me a few seconds to act like an ass myself. You're a load that should have been swallowed champ; that's what I think following your classless and immature post. I apologize to other members of this forum for disrespecting but a silly post like that, in addition to making personal references to family is where I draw the line. So Mr "cheesefry" continue making posts like that and we'll see just how long you remain a member of this forum.

Thanks to everyone for dropping the updates; greatly appreciated. I am definitely going to support and I hope it sells well.
-
wideawake is fucking dumb as hell.
nobody who wants unreleased death row shit wants a greatest hits and nobody who wants a cd of death rows biggest singles is going to want a bunch of random unreleased songs.
mother fuckers on here are straight bending over backwards to defend them too. 45 would be reasonable if it was for 3 cds and a dvd of shit i don't already have. if they're so interested in pleasing the fans why are they making us buy a bunch of shit for extra money we already have. plus its not even smart. NEW 2 disk albums never sell nearly as well as one disk let alone 4 disk sets of ancient shit for 45 dollars.
people are so gah gah over unreleased death row material they're willing to justify anything.
::)

I don't know. It seems like a good move to me. You got people spending close to that amount on one CD of unreleased material that is burned to a CD-R. I think it's a good way to attract both new and old fans. Again, the other Death Row hits albums were put out by the other company so they need newer versions to compete with the old catalog as a way to make a return on their investment. We'll see what happens there.

if there trying to sell it at a price death row stan price that's who will buy it.... all 50 of them.
theres not that much interest in death row. a compilation isn't going to be drawing in too many new fans and if it does that 45 dollar price tag is going to kill any interest.
i'm not saying they couldn't get a few sales a month off a death row greatest hits but it makes no sense to attach it to this rarity collection. they should sell them separately so people aren't paying for stuff they don't need.
and a DEATH ROW GREATEST HITS not even an artists greatest hits. those have to be the absolute most casual fans there are. its going to be california love and nothin but a g thing. people who are going to buy it are mostly going to be people who just want a few hits they've heard on a disk.
-
I agree the attaching a greatest hits to it is just so redundant.Like Ive stated before, death row already a bunch of greatest hits packages available.Including a double disc one that came with a dvd full of music videos.Sounds like their just re packaging that and including one more disc.
-
I agree that it's a necessary route that has to be taken whenever buying over a catalogue - is 1) to re-release that entire catalogue, or 2) Incorporate it into other projects, like we're seeing with the Death Row Ultimate Box Set
Death Row heads will definitely buy it anyway, collectors will easily purchase 1/2 copies, and random rap fans will go into a shop, See The Greatest Hits CD, and the ultimate Death Row box set, which has that, as well as a DVD of videos, and unreleased music disc included and be more inclined to buy that one..
The problem with re-releasing an entire catalogue of music in 2009 is that the product probably wont generate much sales, as it would buy offering something "new" as well as "old" on their releases. Good business move in my opinion

-
The DVD does contain a unreleased music video
-
OH MY GOD! An unreleased Soopafly song "Ain't No Trippin!" From the death row era!! I'm buying this boxset even if it retails for 200.00!! Wow, this is great news. I'm getting all excited right now! Good to see "This Type Of Flow" on there too, although it was already released on Dat Woopty Woop, unless this is a premix or something. I hope the video for Like It Or Not is on the DVD.
-
really excited for doggystyle 96. i just hope they don't put all the lbc crew tracks on albums like this.
5-10 exciting tracks and don't care about the rest. fuck danny boy and petey pablo junk.

Koch made WideAwake put those 6 songs on the unreleased discs.
-
why?and why the fuck is koch telling them what to do their a distrubution company not the label.
-
well, at least there is a decent amount of good looking tracks. I really could care less about petey pablo or doobie though.
-
This could turn out badly
-
Lookin' forward to hearin' all those unreleased Dogg Pound tracks.
-
Woooo 2 LBC Tracks 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
disc 1 track 11. how about some quality control?
-
When is this shit supposed to be comin' out?
-
What's the deal with unreleased 2Pac? Are they in possession of Eminem or what?
-
What's the deal with unreleased 2Pac? Are they in possession of Eminem or what?
wide awake has 13 songs they can release, so obviously they aren't going to sprinkle any new pac material on compilations.
eminem doesn't have anything. read the liner notes of loyal to the game - he offered afeni his remixing for free, she accepted, he did them over the period of a couple days, and that was that. interestingly nearly all of those acapellas leaked.
i had high expectations for this release but it looks pretty crap. how many more death row albums are going to be padded with songs we already have had 10 times over?

fuck me there are more greatest hits releases than there are hits
-
maybe they can beat their previous high in sales of 421 chronic re-lit albums. this company bleeds stupidity.
-
This set looks really nice. Looking forward to the unreleased, Crooked I, Soopafly, and LBC Crew tracks.
-

Well, I agree with you sentiments regarding their repackaging and repackaging of their greatest hits. I wish instead of a greatest hits on disc 1, they just made it 3 discs of all unreleased material.
-
23 new songs is still a big improvement on the bullshit Suge was putting out, could be better but I'll take it. Im guessing they were scared people wouldnt buy it if it was just unfamiliar songs so they threw in the classic tracks to get casual fans to pick it up. The new tracks look tight if they sell the set in the 25 to 28 dollar range the first week i might cop it.

was hoping to see Kurupt - i dont bang no more or DPG - cant c me, maybe even some sam sneed stuff. oh well i'll take this.
-
The admin over at wideawake confrimed that there are no sneed songs in the catalog...he took everything of his with him when he left
Also there will be not outlawz tracks in the future, interscope bought out all of their catalog before Still I Rise droped
Some sad news as these were two artist/groups whose material I wanted from those days

i think the box in that picture is the box set. it looks big enough to fit 4 cds and a T shirt.
im not complaining about the unreleased shit i dont think the tracks will be disappointing
-
damn it is too bad they don't have any of the sam sneed material. U better recognize is fucking banging...I would have loved an album that style from sneed w/ death row features.

you're on crack. they aren't going to add to their overhead by adding premium packaging....cardboard gatefold and a t-shirt made in China. best believe.
-
watch them just include a coupon for a t-shirt that you have to pay the s/h for. including a tshirt would triple the package size and probably not fit on normal retail music racks. i wonder if these are the long lost oftb shirts lol

the death row album from sneed is not as good as you might think
-
Not as good as i hoped but will still be getting, like said before still a lot better than what Suge was putting out.
-

Can't believe I missed this.

damn it is too bad they don't have any of the sam sneed material. U better recognize is fucking banging...I would have loved an album that style from sneed w/ death row features.
the death row album from sneed is not as good as you might think
I disagree, I think it definitely lives up to the hype.
-
I will definitely support but what in the world is going on at Wideawake; why are we not hearing ads and promos to hype this release. There are still DeathRow fans out there that have yet to hear about Chronic Relit, Lost Sessions and obviously this upcoming release.
-
it seems that they don`t have cleared things with left eye`s family, maybe thats the reason why no song from her is on the boxset
-
not to worry as laras webmaster released her album this year
-

How you know? Did you hear those snippets of Sneed's album that Dante put out on one of his projects?
Oh, and BTW are you the same Giesuz from MrMakaveli?

So these snippets really exist huh? Good to know :)

Have those muthafuckin snippets leaked or not?

Not to mention that, but to release the remixed Left Eye material - they have to now go through Mass Appeal Entertainment because they bought the rights to Supernova.
-
So...
Can we just get this clear. The Left Eye material that leaked this year is all that Death Row had in the vault for her? It seemed that way to me.

Not all, but a good bit. I'll be sending you something in maybe an hour or so to clear it up.

This looks okay to me
-
$45 for the quality & quantity on this release seems justified in my opinion.
-
^ Not neccesarily, there seems to be plenty of outright shit on there.
Looking forward to hearing the Soopafly though

Ah, it's the return of the little boy with his infantile comments again. With that shitty attitude you have you must have lots of friends. Tell me, what are their names; Neil and Bob? If you're crying because you want it priced at $15 then just ask for an increase in your monthly allowance.

you can pay for g thang for the 20th time if you want. i'm not gonna. have fun bumping danny boy moaning over a lame beat like he got stabbed in the tummy, homo.
-
Paying $45 for a well-packaged boxed set with three CD's and a DVD plus a shirt is a lot better than spending the same price for a CD-R or MP3 link that you won't get until 200 other people buy it too because a bunch of paranoid bootleggers are worried about you biting into their profits.

Very well said Jimmy; I definitely agree with you my friend. There's just one particular clown on this forum who fails to understand how life works; all he can do is cry over the price of the box set and attack you if you don't share his childish point of view.
-
^^^You're both just talking out your asses. Because fact is, you don't know this is well packaged.....you haven't seen it yet. Plus, you're paying $45 for material you already have and for poorly mixed and mastered material you don't. That's certainly no deal. Truth is, you're likely just a couple of Euros who have a boner for gangsta music because you have American penis envy. You'll do or say anything to hear this music stopping at nothing short of embarrassing yourselves by giving praise for garbage.

What's wrong with Danny Boy??? I agree though on not rebuying shit. Fuck that. I think they might have it on Itunes, so I guess I'm just coping it that way lol. Only new Death Row purchase were I'll get a hardcopy will probably be the Snoop stuff for now. but yeah, what's wrong with Danny Boy?

You can throw a rock at a karaoke contest and hit ten people just as good or better and they won't moan incessantly like they're passing a kidney stone.

danny boy is only good/acceptable when backgrounding on songs. i have yet to hear a danny boy solo song that could compete with any other non-mongoloid singer out there today. there's a reason he bounced from idol and pretty much hasn't been heard from since the 90s. then again i'd rather have danny's root canal singing than twenty-seven petey pablo songs so maybe i'm more of a retard than ttpac. who knows?
call it what you want, but this snoop material is only half exciting and i see nothing on this "box set" that merits any enthusiasm. the box set should be at least two discs of new material but if people are jocking so much that they will buy 3 to get 1 then even god can't give them any sense. the freebies and bonuses on the chronic are far superior to anything i see on the box set barring *maybe* doggystyle 96. at $45 they can forget my purchase. i'll wait for it to be $5 on ebay.
if w.a. wants to move units they need to put out a dr. dre album. oops, they can't. wonder if they even bothered to look into that before they shelled out the big bucks for a catalog that is mediocre barring the occasional snoop or rage song. add shitty mixing into the equation and what little that was actually sellable becomes as useless as the rest. i smell an $18M turd (or is that just ttpac's poopie diaper?).

Hey, aside from The Realest, Top Dogg, and VK (Lady of Rage Rip off) they could have some good material. Dr. Dre is basically a unknown unknown, until he or Wide annouce something its basically locked. Only problem I have is them rereleasing stuff, and actually releasing stuff we already got under a different track name (Verses). They have Material from 1992 - up to 2005 So there are bounds to be some lethal Gems in there.
Also back on the Danny Boy thing, Honestly He has some dope stuff, but as a Artist he doesn't stand out, a variety of other Soul Singers can do better. I like him cause he is sorta a Ghetto Soul singer (music speaks on some real stuff sometimes, like Peaceful Christmas), but Danny is pretty much a better Chorus guy.

I agree. Only reason anyone wants to support them is for the Unreleased shit, but they keep rereleasing previous stuff, while the Ratio has grown bigger, its time strictly for Unreleased stuff. The mixing is a problem I agree, I wish they'd just get a brand new guy instead of that faggot payne. I read a review about the Lost Sessions, apparently some of this was released (verses) on previous albums, and even 1 track contain stuff that pretty much came from a Chronic Re-Lit.
here it is: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/reviews/id.1281/title.snoop-dogg-death-row-the-lost-sessions-volume-1 I already know OG was on the Daz Album I have, and the Murder was teh case thing, but yeah.
Basically that's what it appears what they doing right now. Its like there is no material, they said 15 percent was only released, doesn't mean I want the 10 percent that was alternate cuts.
I also Loled when they said the OG Life so hard wasn't released (well not officially) both the Death Row mix 2pac recorded (1 on gang related) plus the original are both out. (I have the OG). Honestly Its not really a selling point to see snoop sing,.
