There was also a band named "Kalifornia"... a local band from Charlotte had a hit named "California".  The mama's and Papa's had one of the biggest hits of all time with "California Dreamin'", there was also a big hit from the 60's that goes "They're out there havin' fun... in that warm california sun" but I can't remember the name.
