Title: Dr.Dre & Ice Cube - Heltah Skeltah (u think it'll ever be heard?)
Post by: EnzoUK on October 14, 2009, 04:16:25 PM
Future looks grim with WideAwake and the situation with dre..

Just another one of those hip hop projects thats could of been classic like Rakim's"Oh, My God" but no one ever got to hear the material recorded. SUCH A WASTE.

like to hear peoples thoughts on what the album cudda been, cause iv never come across a solid thread about it, it just generally pops up in other discussions.

Dre and Cube only recorded a few tracks for the project, it was never finished.

Dre and Cube only recorded a handful of songs, "Natural Born Killaz" was the only finished product.

"Can't C Me" was given to 2Pac.
"Gimme 50 Feet" was a rumored track.
"Game Over" the beat was re-used on Scarface's Untouchable album.

Dre and Cube didn't even really start recording the album.

Lets face it, it would have been hands down one of the best albums of all time if it had been made and released with dre and cube in their prime.

It will probably come out in a compilation of Dre songs from wideawake after detox drops. You know the only reason Dre isnt letting them release any of his verses is because hes scared they will release a bunch of songs with his vocals & people will confuse it with detox. He doesnt want deathrow: the chronic 2000 to happen again so im sure after detox he wont give a fuck and let them release all his shit cuz he was never really a lyrical man he has always been concern with the beat of the song.

lol Dre won't give the company permission.

Dre has evolved since then, and Cube can still bring it when he's focused.
if it was up to Ice Cube, an album with that concept would see the light of the day, but Dre is the problem, as usual

It's the same deal as the N.W.A. reunion. It might have been something great but the fact is the person who could have brought it to that level was not motivated to working on it at that time. Shit happens. It's sort of pointless to speculate because it was never a fully-realized project. It was a promising idea that never made it to the execution stage.
