Title: new super label forming?
Post by: Quadruple OG on November 12, 2002, 11:56:35 AM
on tha row's forum, someone posted part of an interview with J. Prince from the new XXL (with the album review of your beloved Snoop Dogg and an interview wit Daz), and he brought up something interesting involving Murder Inc, Tha Row, and Rap-A-Lot:

XXL: Word is you, Suge Knight and Irv Gotti are forming a record label together. Is that true?

JPrince: Yeah, it's most definitely true.

XXL: How did this come about?

JPrince: Of course you're aware of Seven, the producer on Ashanti and Ja Rule's album, was signed to me. Well, he had kinda gotten off on the wrong foot. I sat back and watched for a while, because I wanted it to be complete before I intervened. I wanted everybody to accomplish what they was trying to accomplish. I decided to intervene and collect what I was supposed to collect. It was through that intervention that I was able to bring everybody together. When I met Irv Gotti, me and the brother clicked immediately. We set up a meeting like the Godfather. you know, he calls me the Godfather of the South. Suge came down, Gotti came down, and the next thing you know, we all went out to the ranch. My whole thing was we need to start a major black record company. I said, "Gotti, you done built a house with Murda Inc. Suge, you done built a house with Death Row. And I've built a house with Rap-A-Lot. It's time to build an empire. So, you know, everybody liked what they heard. WE're going to put our last initials together and that'll be the name of our company. And of course Irv Gotti, being the A&R genius that he is, ideas started flowing from his head. This guy is brilliant, man, he just ran this idea past me the other day. He said that what we're gonna do is take on guy from the East, the South and the West, and put them in a group together and drop their album. Then we'll release solos of every one of them. And from there it depends on how it goes, but this could be the next Sony or CBS or Universal.

I haven't seen the new XXL yet, but when I do, I'ma definately check to see this.  anyone with the issue confirm this?  If this is true, what do y'all think of this?

this project would be a monster if it ever got off the ground.  would be tight hearing Eastwood or Crook recording wit Devin The Dude or The Luniz.

wouldn't be shocking if it never got going because of all their egos.  I can imagine it being cancelled because of Gotti and Suge arguing who's letter should go first

i doubt this would happen...too many egos...J.Prince has had an empire, Suge has had his...and Irv Gotti is trying to have one....Suge wouldnt let someone call shots over him...plus i dont think the Luniz would collab with murder inc...theyve collabed with Crooked I before so i can see that happening...i dont see Devin fitting in with them either...Rap-A-Lot is not a tight fam like before...Tha Row is very small...it would mainly be Murder Inc i guess....so no...i doubt this is happening....
