Title: West Coast singer/rapper/producer/songwriter - David Verity
Post by: Oh Genius on October 30, 2009, 02:42:03 AM
I just wanted to put you guys up on a Californian artist who goes by the name of David Verity (formerly known as Devante). He produces/sings/raps/songwrites all his material and is just all around dope. His new album "Inexorable" drops in November and the single is "Supervillain" (here's the link: http://usershare.net/ok4xywpw9tlb).

He's been doing the music thing for years and I just personally don't feel he gets the credit he deserves, so I figured it was worth posting a thread.

Auto-tune club filler garbage. Sorry, but it's weak. weak rhymes, lazy flow, cheap software sounding snare roll, and effortless computerized hook. May appeal to some people though,,, for 5 minutes. I wouldn't buy it, but it does sound like the current club music that sells, and there seems to be a temporary market for it at the moment, good luck

I respect your opinion and I was also kinda surprised he went in this direction for the single as it isn't really what I would've expected going from what I heard on the last album. Dude makes amazing R&B though, for example, this track on his last album (http://usershare.net/ao6ksscpr5x8) is the high standard set throughout the whole album.

Also updated the first link with the official album mix.

Now that is more like it  8) Downloaded the threshold song, nice and mellow R&B, this shows that he can deliver dope tracks whenever necessary. I guess that first track is just some hype single to draw in the current market at the moment, which is nothing to hate on, but first impressions do count for a lot. Did he produce both of these songs too?

Yeah he produced both. He does everything in all the stages of his music which is very rare nowadays. I'm fairly sure this song (http://usershare.net/rtwfj6qrtn9n) which may be more of the type of stuff you'll enjoy is gonna be on the album untagged, properly mixed and mastered and in it's entirety.

Check ya inbox as well. :)
