Rap pioneer Rakim recently spoke on being chosen by Dr. Dre for an untitled Detox track and updated fans on their studio relationship upon his departure from Aftermath.

According to Rakim, he is not sure if his song will make the final cut for Dre's long-awaited project.
"What I do is just a little bit different than what Dre do," Rakim explained in an interview. "Creative differences [happened] as far as Dre makes his kind of music and I like to make my kind and you know, we ain't understand how different we was until we got in the studio and started working together. It didn't work out but hopefully in the future, we can do a little joint together...The last I spoke to him was, I had did something for him maybe it was a year ago when he just started putting together his album, I did something on one of the tracks but I don't know which songs are making his album but you know, big up to him. I haven't spoke to him since his son passed away." (Hard Knock TV)

great, i hope that makes the way to detox if detox even makes way to itself and to the retail

It sounds like Dre and Rakim work better in an artist-producer relationship than they would in trying to collaborate for a full project.

DUDE IF RAKIM IS ON DETOX THEM I'M HAPPY WITH THAT

Everybody and their mama have dropped a verse for Detox.

i guess this is a bad time to mention i did a verse for detox too
it went a little something like:
THIS IS DE-TOX
THIS SHIT-KNOCKS
CERTIFIED HEAT-ROCKS
FROM THE RIVER TO THE-DOCKS
obviously ghost-written for dre to perform. a demo version will probably pop up soon 8)

I agree. Once the beat for "Addicted" grew on me, I always thought it was a hot track, and Rakim's verse just flowed so smoothly. Then the remix had that extra verse at the beginning, I bumped that nonstop when it came out.
