How many copies would a Crooked I album sell?
Bare in mind he will have no single playing on the radio or on TV.
40k?
-
it would probably not even go wood
i'd still buy a hard copy though if it would be available
-
I think he could move 40k with weak promo.
-
Realistically, no. He's an indie underground artist, so going Gold would be the equivalent of going Platinum. Royce pushed 4,600 in his 1st week recently. Crooked would probably push about that much or less in his 1st week.
I'd say selling 50-100k total as an indie underground artist is considered a "W" in this day and age.

well seeing how slaughterhouse cant sell good. he wont do any better.
People who make up their own dance to their song. Those are artists who sell alot. Lol.
-
Snoop can barely go gold nowadays and he's a household name, Crook has no chance in hell unless Dre produced every song and Em and Lil Wayne guested on the single. Hed do about 30 to 50,000 which is decent for an indy artist.
-
is this a joke? it probably would sell like 10,000 max and im just being honest
-
the real shit is, the better you are the less you sell.
if he did more than 35,000 i would be impressed.
even if he got a mainstream guy on the single to boost exposure.
-
Untouchable would have went gold "easily" in 2000/2001 and then some, but with a current solo project, I'd doubt it'd even reach 100K. Although probably just under it
-
The Slaughterhouse project didn't even go that much. And that was pretty hyped for an underground album.

gangsta rap/hip hop will never be the same again ever :(

No.

Fuck Sales. Who Care's.
-
If Royce can only sell 4k with his fanbase, shouldn't the question really be would Crooked I be able to sell 1k? No hate, just being honest
-
The internet piracy has killed the music industry period. Unless your an aging artsit such as rolling stones, jay z , u2 or dre you wont sell shit.
btw how many platnum albums have there been in MUSIC this year?
-
FUCK CROOKED I IF SCCIT COULDNT GO GOLD NO WAY THAT BITCH CAN 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
Crooked I should definitely sign with Rap-A-Lot asap. Who is he signed with anyway? Slaughterhouse would be a good addition to Rap-A-Lot too.

Bullshyt. You're just listening to the excuses and justifications from lazy corporations in the music industry. The question shouldn't be how many platinum albums there have been this year, but how many "Great" albums have their been this year, and you'll see why there hasn't been many going platinum. For these executives putting money behind talentless puppets for the past number of years, and putting out poor quality product over the years have damaged the publics confidence and they're sick of paying for a CD with 1/2 good single songs and the rest filler garbage and it's now finally turning round to bite all them in the ass
-
Not on Treacherous and not in 2009 - Period.
-
how many did slaughterhouse sell?
Slaughterhouse sold all that E1 shipped, that means 35 - 40k in one month period.

There's great albums....but they're mostly underground releases that don't get any push.

Exactly - which is partly my point. If solid releases were to be in the limelight with the huge promotional & marketing budgets over poster boy & girl releases then the public confidence would be still remain high, we'd have true artistic individuals being developed, and large amounts of dedicated fan bases still being established, but somewhere along the line, majors opted for the quicker/bigger pay day short term from having anorexic women who can't sign release albums, and dedicated shows of manufactured pop fully revealed for all to see and hear long after the shows finale. Not just pop, but Rock, Hip Hop and other genres have fallen victim to this sluggish approach. I think we can all agree that Hip Hop albums alone post 2000 were a hit or a miss, and more consistently we were wasting money on a CD because of a good single hyped and all over the radio MTV/BET and TV ad's to find that once we got the album home and listened to it, that the majority of the album sucked, and it was annoying because all these albums were the ones getting the big bucks behind them while - like you said - better, solid albums weren't getting that buzz, and now because we, along with the global nations grew tired of it, we started to download albums to test them first, but we can clearly see from figures that albums can still be released and grab a high slaes figure and be awarded multi platinum all the way up to 7/8/9 millions copies worldwide
It's the industries own fault, and them blaming the internet is just excuses

Hell naw Cook shouldn't sign with Rap a Lot look at how they did Yukmouth even though Yuk went Gold with his first album on rap a lot they still wasn't really pushin Yuk like they should of
-
no chance...
-
I think it's funny how fans are so programmed into thinking like they are A&R's now. "Well, this album only sold this much so the album we're talking about will only do this".

Why Rap-A-Lot and why do they to do it ASAP? I'm not saying they aren't a great label but I don't get how it benefits them to go over there as opposed to doing what they've been doing.

Unless you got a single playing on commercial radio, you ain't going gold.

Count yourself out then, because to be played on commercial radio requires money!

I don't know the business in's and out's and I'm not claiming I do, but I know good music when I hear it, and Shortyo's music is certainly not it!! So come on here with as many accounts as you can to try and create a little buzz for youself
-
in 2009, i don't think he has a chance. people who'll cop the album will cop it but its an digital era now, shits gonna be bootlegged the first day its out.

look up payola. There's a reason you never hear any songs on the radio other than those from major labels. Shit, clear channel is getting sued for this as we speak.

Not the way the music industry is now. The guy is obviously talented enough but he just needs people who will give him the right promotion and the chance. If he was exposed to more people I guarantee a lot of cat's would be saying "Who the fuck is Lil Wayne?" after they heard how hard Crook spits.
-
Slaughterhouse did like 10k in their first week so a Crook solo will probably sell 10k at best
-
is this a joke? it probably would sell like 10,000 max and im just being honest

i don't know if that's true. he's obviously talented enough, but most people don't seem to like hearing challenging and intelligent lyrics, it's hooks that gets sales these days.
but like i said, i definitely agree he's talented enough, and i'd definitely buy any album he puts out
-
it would sell no more then 5k and all the bootlegs are going to be done by the crooked fans
-
Not now a days , mainstream artists are struggling to go gold.
-
Yeah you got a point Neilfy. The bullshit is sellin nowadays and the good stuff isn't gettin noticed like it should. It seems as though a lot of people have lowered their standards for what they listen to.
