Title: Jay-Z & Alicia Keys Record “Empire State Of Mind Pt. 2″
Post by: Elano on November 05, 2009, 10:22:03 PM
Jay-Z and Alicia Keys couldn’t contain their enthusiasm for New York to one song, so the pair have decided to team up again for a sequel to their hometown anthem. Keys will include “Empire State of Mind Part 2″ on December’s The Element of Freedom. The sequel will feature a new verse from Jay, a rep from Keys confirmed to MTV News.

The first version of the song was featured on Jay’s Blueprint 3 album, and the duo performed the track at the Video Music Awards and before game two of the World Series.

The Hype Williams-directed video for “Empire State of Mind” debuted Friday, and Keys described it as a masterpiece. “The way it’s put together, it is so New York. You totally get it and understand it. It’s artistic. It’s hard. It’s beautiful. It’s, like, everything,” she said. “And definitely getting to be in the middle of Times Square on my piano [with] Jay, representing our home city, is a triumph. It was unbelievable.”

It's funny yall suggest that when the 1st thing I thought when I seen this track was Nas' NY State Of Mind. Like others you got Coming Of Age and NY State Of Mind, they all got sequels so I say why not lol. Great song though, very catchy.

Jay killed it, especially from a songwriting perspective. Other than Nas, I don't see anybody from NY doing a better job (we're talking about mainstream orientated rappers of course)

he comes off as that grimey guy from the streets of NY, when this song is all like NY is the best & cheerful.

i think the Nas feature could be a hit or miss, his name & legacy are all you guys are hyping. :-X

he makes sick albums & good songs for the albums, when it comes to features, he doesn't impress me.

he was good on Why You Hate The Game, but that was about the rap industry, it's the kind of verse you would see on his album.

Topless was alright; then i heard him on some DJ Khaled shit, that was alright.

not saying he wouldn't kill it, but honestly, given the beat & Jay's tone on his verses, could you see Nas on the OG? i can't.

I understand what you mean, but Nas is my favorite rapper so I think it's normal I disagree with you hehe. He has the ability to adapt his flow and lyrics to the vibe of the beat imo.

But anyway, I don't think we'll see such a track. It's a shame, it would be nice to see these kind of collaboratiions. Dre and Snoop, Jay and Nas, Game and 50...  ;D

recently he got some dope shit, nothin legendary, nothin to claim GOAT status but his classic guest appearances already gave him that status and his albums obviously.

Nas was never big on guest appearances anyways. But when he does do them, he brings the heat. I would rather have a smaller amount of guest appearances from someone like Nas then somebody doing 50-100 a year and half are watered down or sound more like a favor is being done.
