HUGE GAME - the Pats trying to prove that they are indeed one of the best teams in the league & a defense that has been so strong the last seven weeks; can they prove themselves vs. the best QB & his arsenal?
the Colts trying to stay undefeated & show that the injuries they will face for the rest of the season, doesn't kill them too much & can still beat one of the best offenses in Football.
should be a crazy game.
offensively, i call it a coin flip; the Colts have the slightly better QB, but the Pats have more weapons.
i say it comes down to defense & i think the Pats D is better than the Colts D, therefore my pick is the Pats; but it could go either way & it will be close throughout.
EDIT: also last weekend after Joey Porter ran his mouth about beating the Pats, Brady said in the post game it motivated the Pats & they wanted the win that much more. now with Caldwell running his mouth about this weekends game; we'll see if the Pats can handle that, they couldn't when the Jets did it to him. 8)

"the Colts have the slightly better QB, but the Pats have more weapons"
Let me change that to "The Pats barely have comparable QB numbers despite having the best receiving corps in the league and a way better o-line"
That being said. I have no idea who wins this game. But how good or bad Brady plays will have nothing to do with it. I read in the papers today that Brady's 70 yard strike to Moss was a huge factor in last weeks game. And it made me wonder are these sports writers on dope or are they paid to make that shit up?

low scoring game colts win by 2 or 3

lol they won rings with Troy Brown & Deion Branch; while Manning had Marvin, Reggie & Dallas.
in the playoffs? Brady has the better winning percentage, better passer rating & more touchdowns & less interceptions.
Tom is clutch & the only thing that he doesn't have is a rocket arm; but accuracy is right there; not on Peyton's level, but obviously good enough to be the most winningest QB this decade lol.

On that team Matt Cassel was "good enough" to go 11-5. How's he doing now? Answer; probably about the same Brady would be doing on KC. That's the difference. Brady=Good Enough, Peyton=Great. If Peyton was only "good enough" the Colts wouldn't have made the playoffs more than once or twice this decade. And if Brady was GREAT, he'd have 5 or 6 rings instead of 3.

how is he so great if he chokes it up in January?
if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. ;D
Brady was one lucky ass heave that even Jamarcus Russell can make from having the first perfect season with the additional two games; giving him four rings.
Cassell had a good season, but i think he's a good QB.
i would say that Peyton would finish 8-8 with the Chiefs, but i don't feel like giving my opinion on something i will never be able to prove; because that argument has too many "maybes, if's & what-if's". :)

8-8 seems high to me. What are they now? 1-7? Peyton might, MIGHT, have made them 3-5. QBs don't win games. Horrible QB play seems like it can kill a team, but usually horrible QB play is a result of either great defense that the OC didn't expect or bad offense across the board. QB just gets all the blame and the credit.
If a QB gets hit on the throw because an RB missed his blocking assignment and then the slightly off throw was tipped by his WR and intercepted on a tip drill, the QB is the only one whose stats change. If the WR breaks left when the play says break right and the QB throws it to the right and into the hands of a defender the QB looks like the moron and the WR gets nothing added to his stat sheet.
All you have to do to shut me up is show me one playoff game where the Colts showed up but Peyton didn't. Every time Peyton "choked" the Indianapolis Colts played worse than he did, and in every game where Manning's numbers were less than expected, starting with the first game against Tennessee, the run games numbers were far less than expected. And the run and 3rd down defense of the Colts always does particularly bad in playoff games.
Once in a blue moon Peyton does what he did against Miami a few weeks back, but he's not really that good. It just seemed to work out that night. 99 out of 100 times the team that plays like Miami did wins that game. Even bad QBs like Rob Johnson have magical nights.
In all of those Peyton playoff chokes if the run game and run D played on par then Peyton would have played on par. You can't blame the QB for having a bad game when the rest of the team has one too. It's hard to tell who is really having the bad game. But you, Cham, only seem to blame the QB. I've never seen Manning lose a playoff game where his team played like champs, and I've never seen Brady win one where his team played like shit. Football is a unit of parts that rely on each other to win, and a great unit can make some parts look better and a bad unit can make some parts look worse. Peyton doesn't make or break the unit. He's simply the best guy to have in his position, in this era, and it's not even close. And a Buffalo Bills fan from Toronto of Greek descent has no emotional reasons or biases to say that. I just look at the dudes play and decide from that.

LMAO "HE'S NOT REALLY THAT GOOD"
peyton has 48,000 career passing yards (and is bout to pass Warren Moon) and is on his way to 400+ TDs and will break ALL favre records
if he wins one more ring he'll easily go down as the best ever
not that having only one ring is something to be ashamed of - Dan Marino would KILL for a ring

I meant THAT good, with regards to being able to play as well as he played against Miami like it was nothing. No QB is good enough to have the ball for 14 minutes and put up 27 points. That's nearly 2 points for every minute you have possession. If he could do that consistently he'd have 10 rings right now and 10 MVPs.

Fuck i just found out I gotta leave outta town for work in a hr. Hopefully ill be there and in the hotel in time to watch my predictions come true.

Pats respond to the Colts drive.
7-7; this is going to be good.
amazing throw to Reggie, then Brady on the other end makes an amazing throw to Moss.
SLUGFEST!

You say these things just to get me riled up. Te throw to Wayne was a work or art. Moss was wide open in the middle of the field with no pressure onBrady up the middle. I could have made that throw.

shut the fuck up shallow, u sound like such a fag when u talk about manning and brady.

that was actually an amazing catch; i mean the throw was on the money, but i don't see many other receivers (minus the elite) making that catch.
& besides that play, the recievers have been wide open for like a 5 yard radius; compliment Caldwell or the recieving core or hate on the pass defense of NE, but don't tell me Peyton is the reason they're wide open lol.

hey swallow u fruit, u like taht throw n catch. go cry son.

I was only comparing those two throws. One was spot on in coverage where only the WR could get it. And one was to a wide open Randy Moss. The second Moss was one again he was left uncovered on the run up and then made a beast catch at the end in the coverage. As far as the whole game is concerned. The difference in the open WRs is the YAC. Indy's get open and then get tackled. NE's get open and then run ten yards.
-
^if we are just talkin' about those two plays, i'll give it to the Colts on that one; but i mean, it's not like they were similar plays.
great game though, i expect this to be the AFC Championship Game.

this is the fucking game of the year! :o
-
Holy shit, talk about balls going for it there.
-
i'll be honest with you, that was a BULLSHIT spot; no denying that.

Pats should have let them score on that run.

Epic

yea and that pass interference wen he was clearly lookin back playin the ball. patriots killed themselves man. totally gave this game to them. Colts lose in he playoffs to them no doubt about it.
-
Wow, Pats REALLY blew this one.
...and when (and how) the hell did I become a mod? haha
-
colts i still say are mad overrated. pats d gift wrapped this game for them. and that 4th down call was rediculous with a crazy spot owell. brady out played manning.
-
amazing game; great news for my Gang of Green! 8)

bad coaching by bellicheck
-
If they pick up that 1st down, Indy never gets the ball back and it's game over. It's dangerous obviously because of how backed up they were.
That shows you how good Manning is. Bellicheck has no doubt in his mind that if he punts it, Manning leads the game winning drive anyways.

Manning isn't God, though. If the play works he's a genius, if it doesn't he's an idiot. Results are the only thing people care about.

40 yards, 60 yards, 80 yards - it doesn't matter lol. Manning would have taken that all the way.

amazing game; great news for my Gang of Green! 8)
Jets don't stand a chance at the playoffs. After next week, my 0-6 Titans will hold the same record as the 3-0 Jets lol.
-
I went from not being able to sleep tonight out of disgust. To not being able to sleep tonight out of amazing joy. The spot was fine. He juggled the ball and never establish complete control anywhere to prove it was a first down. It's the Pats fault for not having timeouts and going for it. And even then there's no guarantee it gets reversed. It was close. The difference in the game was the talent at QB. And the difference in the talent is what each QB has to go through. As usual Manning had to struggle through adversity, and not quite clicking with WRs against the best defense of the decade and the best defensive coach of the last 20 years. While bRady gets a walk in the park against a soft D most of the game, but the one that came up short in the end lost the game. FUCK BRADY! FUCK GQ MAGAZINE! AND FUCK GISELLE!
That being said the Pats still might be a better team and I'm not sure just yet on how far the Colts can go. You switch QBs in this game and it's a huge Pats blowout.

It's Brady winning that makes me disgusted, not Manning losing. Week 1 when Buffalo gave the game away I slept a total of 30 minutes that night. And I kid you not, my dream that night involved Leodis McKelvin.
It was a good day for me. As my Bills flushed their playoff hopes away and I could cheer for Peyt with out any conflict, Brady gets the ball in his hands for the game and doesn't come through. To quote Ice Cube "Today was a Good Day".

i dont get how u can be that emotionally attached to a person u dont know, to hate them that much. There is something wrong wen a person can have such a hatred against a mans success(who he doesnt know) and ends up losing sleep over these things. Mind Boggling.

It's not about the guy I don't know; Tom Brady. It's about all the assholes I do know that never shut up about him. If I didn't have anyone in my life to call me every time Brady wins a big game and boast about it then I wouldn't care. Same goes for me making the phone calls after Peyton wins and rubbing it in their faces. I really don't care about Manning or Brady personally speaking. They're insignificant to me. Like Chris Benoit was. I enjoyed his talent and disliked when they gave him the short straw after he won the title. I pulled for him in wrestling but never cared about him personally. When he killed his family I looked at it like any other story of a man killing his family. As opposed to a man I personally know doing it. It would really affect me personally if an old highscool teacher I keep in touch with did it, or a friend of mine. Or even a neighbor I knew my whole life. Weird analogy I know, but the point is Tom Brady hating/Manning praise for me is only a vehicle to get under the skin of my friends. Not any different than it is on the forum with the guys I debate it with. First it was MoSav, and now Cham. Sometimes I personally post things just to get them riled up and I'm sure they do the same. It's not meant to be mean spirited and all in good fun, at least on my part it is. I hope they don't really get offended. Shit talking is a part of sport, whether you play it, or just watch it. And when you lose in a shit talking match because you predicted wrong or things went against you in the game, you get worked up. At least I do. But I never take it too far. One night of sleepless frustration is fine by me. 6 weeks of it is dangerous.
-
Musta been a good game, well great finish, depending who're going for. Wished I watched the 2nd half.

LOL, theoretically Manning was in the exact same position that Brady was in week 1 & you gave him no credit.
what team are you a fan of?
the spot was terrible, but the play call was great.
like Ted said, if they converted, Bill is still the "greatest coach ever", but he didn't so they call him stupid.
10 times out of 10 a team will line up let the clock tick down to see if they can get the defense to jump, that's what the entire world, including the Colts thought, then they hiked it. Al Michaels couldn't believe it lol.
these analysts get paid so much & can't figure the simpliest shit out.
it's one game that they had & know they can beat this team & i highly doubt it will affect this team in the slightest.
-
First off the Pats were moving the ball with ease all game pretty much. They needed less than 2 yards for a win. Belicheck had confidence that they would convert and they made the stop. If Kevin Faulk didn't bobble the ball it would have been a first down. Its a game of inches and we just got the shit end on the ruler I guess.
-
^that's another thing.
the Pats are an offensive team; why not let your better half of the team try to win the game?

Manning's two passes to Garcon and Wayne completely destroy the two passes to Watson against a sleeping Bills defense. The Wayne catch had a lot to do with Wayne grabbing a bullet but it was undefendable. The Garcon pass was perfection. And the major difference was that it was the Pats offense that had to make a play against the Colts D. Not a shitty Bills offense, or a bonehead fumble.
Bill was an idiot last night because on 3rd and 2 when he's planning to go for it on 4th instead of running up the middle twice on a bad run D. He put the ball in Brady's hands and the 3rd down pass was almost a pick 6, while the 4th down pass was short. Yes short. The angle's shown to show it properly. Dude bumbled a high throw and lost forward progress, plain and simple. I guarantee if they ran it twice they'd have made the first down. They have a huge o-line against a small D line. Of course if Brady knew how to make throws in stride he never would have had to lean back for the ball and have a hard time bringing it down. Want to see how it's done? Watch Manning's throw to Clark on a third and 5 in the AFC playoff game against the Ravens in 06.
15 to 3. That's the number of votes for Manning by hall of fame QBs.
-
That was probably the dumbest play in NFL history
-
I went from not being able to sleep tonight out of disgust.
You switch QBs in this game and it's a huge Pats blowout.
lol u are so on mannings dick that u cant sleep when u think he is gunna lose. U need to go get some help asap dogg, thats just messed. BRADY >> MANNING just cause i know u might have a stroke.
They have a huge o-line against a small D line. i agree with 15 Hall of Famers, but notice they all said Brady is amazing too.
they say Peyton >>> Brady (i agree), but they imply that Brady is a HOFer himself; so you disagree with 18 Hall of Fame QB's about how good Tom Brady is lol.

I said from day one of these arguments that if Tom Brady had been drafted by the Bills or Lions in 2000 none of us would know his name. There are plenty of great QBs that end up in the wrong teams or systems and never got off the ground. Kyle Orton went from a what was Mcdaniels thinking to a oh my God I hope he isn't injured QB just because of the system he's currently in. Cassel went from the 14 million dollar man to Matt who?
There are two types of QBs in the HoF, guys that do it on talent like Marino and guys that get in because of their teams. On a bad team with nowhere to go but up I'd take Jim Kelly ahead of Montana because I've seen what Kelly can do with nothing (I don't mean the 91 to 94 Bills. They were all around great teams). I've never seen Montana play with shit so I don't know how he'd do. Even KC was fucking solid before he got there. I've seen Jake Plummer play with shit and play amazing, and Jake Plummer in his prime wins at least 2 SBs with Pit but Ben will get in way before Jake ever does, if he ever does. Hall of Fame isn't the big deal they make it out to be, because a lot of guys get in when they may not have under bad circumstances and a lot of guys never get the chance.
I guess that's why I like baseball and pitchers. You can never see the post season in your career, or even get more than ten wins because of a lot of no decisions, but if you can get 3 to 4 thousand SOs and keep an era under 3.0 you'll get it and no one will question you as one of the greatest.
I just watch them play, and until Brady shows me something special I won't call him something special. Until then, to me, he's a good enough QB in a great situation, like Bradshaw, Aikman, Namath, and Starr.

Gotta love the pass interference calls that set up 2 touchdowns for Manning.

lead two game winning drives in Super Bowls & has three rings; yeah not enough. ::)
if's don't cut it.
Gotta love the pass interference calls that set up 2 touchdowns for Manning.
what do you expect for the posterboy?
-
Gotta love the pass interference calls that set up 2 touchdowns for Manning.
I call it a smart play by Collie. Ball was in the air and the defender was still playing the body. Text book interference.
Cham; exactly, he's good enough to throw 3 yard passes that go for 15 yards on screens. I never doubted that about Brady. But when the coverage is tight and the game's on the line he doesn't make the throws he needs to make. He just had to throw it 1 foot to the right and that game last night was over. But as usual Brady doesn't make the tough throw. He's good enough to make the easy ones.
Brady at his best is one of the best game managing QBs there is. You know he won't make mistakes. In his later years the hype has gotten to his head and he's started making throws in the endzone that lead to INTs. He never used to do that. If I had a run first defensive team and only wanted a QB to not lose the game 01 to 04 Brady is right up there at the very top. On the 85 Bears Brady would be perfect. On the 09 Colts he'd be a disaster. The difference is there are lot of names on the top of best game managers QB list. There's only a handful on the top of the list for QBs you'd want to count on to make the plays when the chips are down and you need a prayer answered.
There simply too different to be compared. It's like comparing Barry Sanders with Jerome Bettis. The Bus is great but let's be serious.
-
^don't act like you even called Brady "great", you refered to him as "good for the position he's in" before lmao.
if you want to use the "if" argument, i could say if Peyton & Brady switched teams from way back when, then Peyton would be asked to make the same plays Brady is making now & you would hate him; where even if Brady was average on the Colts, you would find a way to show him more love than Peyton making screen passes.
regardless, Peyton's long was 25 & Brady's was 63; Brady averaged 12 a throw, Peyton averaged 11; screens or not, it's making things happen.
the Pats played that perfectly for me, showed they can take the Colts & can surely beat them & then lost the game for my Jets. 8)

I called Bettis great, not Brady. I call Montana great too and he played in a system like that. Same with Young. Brady isn't as good as those guys. If Brady played for the Colts from the start I wouldn't have had the time to make excuses for him because he'd have been cut by the end of the '01 season. If Peyton played in NE he would have a lot more screens and rings, but he'd also ave the ability to make the tough throws necessary. It's not just that I think they'd have the 3 rings they got with Peyton, it's that I'd think they'd win each of those games by two scores, and the same goes for the 2 or 3 more rings they'd have. And it'd be a lot harder for me to dispute a 4 time MVP with 5 rings. Of course the NFL doesn't want a Jordan. They want a Magic and Bird. I'm not trying to get into another IF argument. I'm just explaining that's how much better I think Manning is. And maybe if he won it like that I'd resent him a little, I don't know, but I'd never question the greatness like I do with Brady. Just like I will not question Montana's greatness. I may argue for Marino but Joe Cool is still way up there. To me, Brady is not.
And why is it the QB making things happen because guys get open short and run long. Why does the Pats OC or the blockers on the plays never get any mentions. No one ever huts up about the "weapons" of Manning that rotate and still he doesn't lose a step, and people simply talk about Brady like he's got the team on his back. Randy Moss didn't get a single vote for MVP in 07, despite breaking records.
-
^LOL, because the Brady broke even more records & no question the QB is the more prestigious position on the field.
how many WR's win MVP awards?
you just don't like the persona of Brady, but you don't have to hate the player, Tom Brady.
like they say; hate the game, not the player.
-

I don't see anything special about his play on the field. I could give a shit of his persona. I hate both Jordan and Kobe persona wise, but I never questioned Jordan's greatness and recently agreed with NIK with Kobe. Because I saw the talent on the field. Bring up all the numbers and stats you want. Until I see the talent I won't call him great.
-
^Jordan & Kobe seem like people you would be anti over lol.
both have won with incredible casts, great support; haven't won otherwise.
it's the exact same thing you ride Brady for; how he has such a great line & better defense.
Jordan had a GREAT number 2 in Scottie & a human rebound & defensive machine in Rodman.
Kobe had the greatest big man on the planet when they three-peated & then had a stacked bench last season.
LeBron is the guy you should be all over, he's "all alone" just leading his team game in & game out.

yes, but I'm not riding those guys because I see the talent on the field. I recognize the greatness in their game. I dislike them both more than I dislike Brady, as far as on-air persona. So give me a logical reason for me to not see the greatness of Brady, other than the fact that I really don't think it's there. I said for years that any above average QB could win with that team, and Matt Cassel showed that last year and this year. I said it was the system that made run of the mill QBs seem great and Kyle Orton showed that this year. Jay Cutler is showing us what good QBs in bad systems look like. Randall Cunningham showed us career highs as well when Moss was playing in beat mode, counting for half the total TDs of both Randal and Tom. Just look at the Vikings QB numbers with Moss and then with out them. He had a couple bad years in Oakland but he was off his game then. Coming to NE rejuvenated him. But if Culpepper who isn't as good as BRady can throw from 4700 yards and 40 TDs with a Moss lead offense then why can't Brady throw 50? To me it was clear that Moss was more valuable in 07 than any other player.
When Tom Brady throws a punt in the direction of Moss and I see Moss slow down and one hand in coverage I realize where the talent was in that play and it wasn't from the QB. The stat says 50 yard pass TD for Brady but I know what I saw. I watch games not numbers.
-
^because he won with Deion Branch as a number one reciever, 3 times, in the Super Bowl.
Peyton won with Dallas & Marvin & Reggie; against the mighty Chicago Bears. :-X
not to mention they should of lost the game to the Pats in the AFC game lol.
but what you're saying is like having a 6'8'', 250 pound linebacker, whose too good to play football (better than anybody to play the position) & tell him not to play because it's cheap. if Randy Moss can make that play & score points, why the hell wouldn't you do it? it's about winning, not proving your better.
but also, i mean you told us before that "you couldn't sleep", when you thought Brady was going to win the game; i mean the bias there is so strong, i don't see why i even bother lol.
want to hear a joke though? how come Tom Brady & Peyton Manning never shake hands?
...
because Tom Brady's hand is too heavy for him to pick up. :D ;D
-
Point blank I think the Pats outplayed the Colts and Brady outplayed Manning. And don't worry Cham the Jets won't win next week. I'll be at the game. ;)

damn not everyone is happy bout the pats goin for it on 4 and 2

haha for real even in pop warner u know u dont go for it on 4th and 2 on your on territory

yeah but why would billy want his team to lose? lol

Does anybody agree with me that its a good thing he had confidence in his offense that put up over 400 yards that day?

Now you're playing the shoulda coulda woulda game. Colts should have lost the AFC Championship? Hypocrite.
Of course he should make the throws. It's Randy fucking Moss. He just shouldn't get the credit. I never blamed Brady for doing anything the way he does it. I don't know where you come off saying I ever said that. I wish Peyton had Moss, so he wouldn't have to make so many perfect throws. My issue is Brady CANNOT, CANNOT, CANNOT, make the throws Manning makes on a weekly basis.
If this is basketball and it's the 80s Celts vs the 80s Lakers, then Manning is Bird and Brady is Kurt Rambis, but everyone wants to make it seem like he's Magic Johnson. Bill Bellichek might be Magic, but Brady is Kurt Rambis. Kurt "4 Rings" Rambis.
And as I already explained, I don't lose sleep because of the idea that Brady is successful. I do because of all the friends I have in my life that like you, don't understand football, and bother me with the Brady does it again bullshit.
-
^it's not the same at all.
you play this "well if he was here THAN this would happen"; which is some fantasy world living.
all i'm saying is the Pats were up 21-3, i mean they lost; but they will lose that lead once every 75 times they have a lead like that.
so me not agreeing with your opinion means i don't understand Football? why don't you have your own ESPN time slot giving your "expertize" opinion? :D
i'm pretty sure that it's you i don't understand, not Football.
you constantly change what my point is & you get me off track lol.
BOTTOM LINE; i openly admit that Peyton "Middle Name" Manning is better than Tom "Middle Name" Brady.
HOWEVER; i believe Tom Brady is a future Hall of Famer & a great QB; up until this season he was the second best in the league; he is within the top 20 best QBs.
so actually, there is no real point to ever see Peyton Mannings name EVER again in any thread where i am debating TOM BRADY'S greatness.
no one is debating Peyton's.
Point blank I think the Pats outplayed the Colts and Brady outplayed Manning. And don't worry Cham the Jets won't win next week. I'll be at the game. ;)
our defense is just getting worse & worse each week. :-X
but i already know that we're going to play you tough; we want this game.
& i got some fam in Rhode Island, i think one of my cousins are going; i have to talk to them though.

I played no if games on my last post. I said Brady cannot make the many tough throws and I don't base that on if. I base that on 8 years of watching him play football and missing throws or simply avoiding them altogether.
The bottom line is that Colts did win. It wasn't 75 games. It was 1, and the Pats lost.
I only started to question your understanding of the game when you openly laughed at my mention of Weis. It baffles me that a football fan with knowledge would react that way. It's like saying Sean Payton has little to do with the offensive success of the Saints. I'd say it's easier to replace Brees than it would be to replace Payton. We've seen Brees in SD. Nothing special. Sean Payton on the other hand has had more offensive success with Brees than Brees has had wirh out Payton.
-
if you think that Payton deserves more credit than Drew Brees, i don't know what to tell you.
same goes for Brady & Weis.
he went 18-0 without him btw.
but anyway a coach calls the plays, but the QB still has to make it happen.

A QB has to make a screen play happen? What about an o-line, a TE and RB for the block, a WR to catch it and run through the holes. The QB is the least important part of a screen play. I'm not the won giving Manning all the credit in Indy, yet you ignore everyone but Brady when you say "he went 18-0". That's ridiculous the amount of credit you give a QB. Fuck win loss stats. Brady was also perfect in 08 when he went 1-0. It doesn't matter to the state guys that he didn't even make it to the half and Cassel was in most of the game. But Brady gets the win. Fuck this whole QB is God bullshit.
At least now you understand my consistency. This isn't about Brady hate when I say I think Payton is more valuable than Brees. I love Drew and really pull for him but I've seen Sean Payton take offenses to Superbowls with out Drew. I didn't see all tht much from Brees when he wa sgettign bench for Flutie in SD. He was a great QB at his best in SD but he was easily replaced there so why would I think he can't be just as easilt replaced in NO?
