One of my favorite Dr. Dre tracks, was just bumpin this and the whole "2001" album on Windows Media Player and then i noticed somethin', check this out.
I'm lookin' at the booklet and it doesn't say anythin' about Jay-Z or Warren G but then i remembered that somebody said that Warren G ghostproduced the track, and i remembered right, it was Bad Azz who said it on his DubCNN interview:
dubcnn.com : The Neptunes ain't as dope as Dre though man..
Shiiit.. It's opinionated, I ain't gonna try and force my opinion on you, but I say it, write it down in my interview, Bad Azz said The Neptunes are as dope as Dr. Dre. And I didn't say doper, and they're new, they ain't as old as Dre, but on me, they PRODUCED all they songs, Dre don't produce all his songs, look Dre gets props for songs that he didn't produce! So who's doper? The Neptunes produce allllll they're songs, Dre gets props for.. Focus produces Dre songs, Mel Man produces Dre songs, Daz produced Dre songs, Warren G has produced Dre songs, like remember that Watcher song? Dre didn't do that beat! Dre did not do that beat!
When y'all play the album on Windows Media Player does it say "W.Griffen"?
-
WTF!?!? sure about this.. does "W. Griffin" pop up on ur screen..?

I think Eminem def had a verse at one point. I went to a Dre Eminem concert at Brixton Accademy in 99/2000 and Eminem did a verse over the watcher that clearly wasnt a freestyle.
-
Yeah, Eminem is credited as a writer on the track and that's Eminem and Knoc-Turn'Al on the hook.
-
I don't have the disc on me right now, but this sounds like a disc authoring error to me. Eminem obviously wrote the song, just listen to it. And I think Eminem is credited in the booklet (again, I don't have it on me at my apartment right now). This sounds like another Internet conspiracy rumor regarding who ghostproduces for Dre.

Well, Bad Azz said that Warren G made the beat. When did Khalil start workin with Dre? Like sayinä in interviews that he's workin with Dre and like that.

And why should I believe Bad Azz? I know he was in the 2001 booklet's photo gallery, but how do we know he was around during the production of that song? How come Warren G has never taken credit for it? How come the WMA says Jay-Z wrote it when obviously Em wrote it, thus disqualifying the WMA portion of the evidence you presented. As a result, all we have to go by is a quote by Bad Azz which would be considered "hearsay" and therefore inadmissible as evidence in a court of law.
All in all, it's b.s. I'm just pointing it out using regular U.S. Federal Rules of Evidence. It's b.s.

i doubt warren g ghost produced it. he might've given dre a skeleton beat. Dre produced the song...........a producer and a beat maker are two different things
-
Yeah, there's no proof of anythin' but you never know, maybe Warren G made the beat, he said himself many times that he did a lot of shit he hasn't been credited for. Doesn't Dr. Dre make people he works with sign some paper that says that you can't talk about what happens in the studio or somethin' like that? I have heard that many times.

CDDB information is often provided by end users. In iTunes, which uses Gracenote, users name the CD tracks and then use the "Submit Track Names" option under the "Advanced" heading in the toolbar to submit track information.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDDB#How_CDDB_works
someone must have read Bad Azz interview and submitted that info to CDDB

I don't know, anyway i just thought it was odd that my Windows Media Player was sayin' that.

In an interview back in the day (in a Dutch magazine), Truth Hurts confirmed she was originally on that song WITH Eminem!
I wish I scanned it. It was in Veronica Magazine.

It makes the most sense, seeing as how it's pretty much the same title, except for the "II" at the end of the Jay\Rakim version. Easy to get that kinda twisted.
-
lol man I don't think Bad Azz is all that trustworthy to begin with, and besides, I don't really think he said warren did this - he was just stating people he believes produced shit for Dre and gave an example, it being The Watcher. If anyone actually ghost produced that track, it was Mel-Man
and Rakim is W.Griffin, so that clears up all the confusion if you ask me
-
allhiphop.com should be proud

this thread has to be for the younger fans bcuz i dont think anybody gives a fuck. not hatin, just sayin. 2001 is 10 years ago (and 9 for the album title). this thread should've been merged with the "10 year 2001 anniversary thread". niggaz just ain't fuckin' wit Dre like that no more, until he drops some new shit.
