Quote
Without a clear-cut suitor emerging to sign him, All-Star guard Allen Iverson(notes) is set to retire, his personal manager said Wednesday afternoon.

Iverson, who has played 14 seasons in the NBA, thought he was close to signing with the New York Knicks last week only to be told team officials had a change of heart.

my favorite player of all time. 8)

amazing career, Hall of Famer for sure; just never got his ring. :-\

one of the best. 8)

Kinda sad to see him go under these circumstances but I enjoyed watching him play over the years.

lol at some nba general managers. theres probabley 4-6 elite teams in the nba with the potential to win a chamionship in the next 2-3 years, then theres probabley 10 teams with decent rosters the rest of the nba teams fucking suck, i mean suck fucking arse, no matter how you try to spin it theres a lot of teams in the nba that are terrible. irrespective of youth or "we moving in this direction" i dont think its right that not one of those bottom feeder teams would pay iverson. i mean 3-mill for 1 year??? he can still drop 25 easy on anyone and any team and he will sell shit loads of tickets and will make that team relevant again, all he wants to do is start? which in my opinion he should be especially on these bottom 15 teams.

id love to see him land in charlotte

I agree with tempo, how the fuck could the knicks NOT add A.I. for just one year, I mean, they are 3-12..... how would adding a guy who scores 25 p.p.g. not help your team, if you suck already.

^It probably has a lot to do with his personality. Him being in the locker room and all would just make life worse for anybody.

well i don't know how much NY was going to pay him, but i do know they want to keep that checkbook open for this years offseason.

which shows how pathetic the Knicks are, banking on Free Agency of next year to become contenders. :D

According to Stephen A. Smith, there's a really good chance that by the end of next week Allen Iverson is back in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform starting for them.

let's hope he doesn't cause that would be awful, he would never get a ring with the sixers..he should just wait it out till early 2010 and c if anybody would want him when most teams start to get major injuries...

Iverson's an egomaniac; if someone is going to give him a chance to start, he'd take it, regardless of if it were the Lakers or Nets.

Iggy is overrated. Should not be paid superstar money when he's no better than a 2nd or 3rd option on a good team.

he is a B player in my mind, but one of the better B players.

but Elton can put up numbers & if AI comes back & plays strong, i don't see us making a push to being with, but i feel it will help our chances & it couldn't hurt.

I would love to see AI back in Philly, he's always been a great passer when willing so if he could be more of a true PG rather than jacking up shots all the time I think he could be a great addition. Whether or not that will happen I do not know.

That team is a mess anyways. Overpaying 2 fake franchise players with one of them coming off a very serious injury for years to come was just a really dumb thing to do.

sixers will win games if iggy is the 3rd option...im happy to c iverson back in philly

and to chamillitary im not to sure hes one of the better B players

when we talk about B+ players i think of guys like Durant, joe johnson, harris, grange, etc

to me iggy is more like a b-  no disrespect tho cuz hes an excellent defender and would love to have em

^well when we just have different grades.

because i see the guys you named at A- players.

they are Super-Stars/All-Stars, but not on the top 10/LeBron/Kobe/Wade/Paul/Dwight level.
