Title: Albums you love and everyone else seems to hate?
Post by: OchoCinco on December 06, 2009, 04:48:31 PM
For me I'd say the two most notable are

Nas - Hiphop is Dead

Never really understood why this gets so much hate, for me its one of the best to come out the last few years. I get that it doesnt have that gritty NY feel the hardcores want from Nas but its filled with dope tracks top to bottom.

Snoop - R&G

Again I see so much hate on it. That album was filled with dope songs, I get it doesnt have that real westcoast feel to it but from a musical standpoint its on point.
Also I think that new Malice is dope too, and that seems to be gettin nothin but hate in wc section.

i don't know many people who hated on the Nas album, but even i kind of hate on R&G.

it had a lot of filler for me, with a few bumpable tracks.

for me? Get Rich or Die Tryin'; everyone i know tries to put that album down & even thought it isn't hate like, "god this sucks"; it's shocking to see how upset people get when somebody deems it classic.

50 cent-the massacre.Liked this album since it first came out dont understand the hate.Sure theirs a few misses but theirs a lot of great tracks.

Lloyd Banks-Rotten Apple.I bump this a lot more then hunger for more.Has a nice cohesive dark feel to the album with some nice stand outs.

Chronic 2000,too gangsta for radio and dysfunktional family-Some amazing songs on each release

The knux-remind me in 3 days.Criminally slept on album

As far as hip hop is dead I didnt know that album got hate.I think its almost a classic with a couple weaker songs.9 out of 10 for me.

I thought r and g was trash from start to finish with maybe 2 or three ok songs.

I agree on the Rotten Apple, the production was sub-par for the most part, but Banks was definitely on point lyrically.

i feel it was a step down from The Hunger For More; but i would agree that it gets a lot of hate.

I enjoy:

The Massacre
Curtis
Before I Self Destruct
Rotten Apple
Encore
Kingdom Come
American Gangster
Blueprint 3
808s & Heartbreak

All of these seem to get hated on the web but most sold well so!

Edit:
Street's Discple
Hip-Hop is Dead (is this really hated on?)

Who hated on Hip-Hop Is Dead? As I recall, it was considered one of the better albums to drop that year.

Rotten Apple
American Gangster
Massacre
Blood Money :P (Put Em In The Place goes hard!)

Most G Unit releases get unfairly hated on in my opinion

50 - The Massacre, great album, still sounds good today

Snoop - R&G, I bumped this album for the whole of that Xmas period when it came out

Jay-Z - Blueprint 2, yeah there was filler, but there were at least 8 very good tracks on it

DJ Quik - Blaqkout, fuck the haters

Aftermath compilation - I loved the RnB stylings on this album

I haven't seen anyone hating on this album? You're right about it being criminally slept on, but that doesn't mean it receives a lot of hate

Tha Dogg Pound - Cali Iz Active
Game - LAX
Method Man - The Prequel & Tical 2000
Nas - Street's Disciple

Cali Iz active & The Prequel grew on me alot, I think even with their flaws these albums are pretty good especially Tical 2000. My only complaint with that CD are the skits.

Hip Hop is dead:
Definatly top 3 nas album for me.
Great vibe & theme.

Back On My B.S.
Very original album to me, Respect My Conglomerate, Arab Money, Sugar are bangers.

LAX.
Favorite 08 album for me, people complaint about too many features being on there but seriously Chronic, 2001, Doggystyle, Liquid Swords all had allot of features, might as well hate on the wu because they have too many members...

Ice Cube's later albums.
No weak albums, most consistent rapper of all time 10 out of 10.

WOMD / Full Circle
X is 6 out of 6

Adrenaline Rush '07
In comparisson to it sucked, yes I agree but it's not a bad album.
The best hook tpain sung is on this album, allot of songs are similar but still.

Albums that arent'hated on but just don't get enough Praise:
Pharoahe Monch - Internal Affairs
WC - Guilty By Affiliation
Redman - Doc's Da Name 2000
Snoop - Last Meal
Tech N9ne - Absolute Power
Tech N9ne - Everready
Tech N9ne - Killer
Tech N9ne - Sickology 101

I understand the hate for Hip Hop Is Dead, it's a boring arse album. Bar a few tracks, could never get into it.

I'll go with:

Massacre
Blood Money
Amerikaz Nightmare

i wouldn't say that the album got hated on, but some did discredit it, even the artist himself:

My pick for album I love that people hated off the top of my head is...

Canibus "Can-I-Bus"

...Everyone started tripping after this album dropped, INCLUDING CANIBUS HIMSELF.  In his second album he said, "Wyclef spoiled it!".   Wyclef spoiled what?  The album was fucking dope, that shit sold GOLD, and his video's were on rotation at MTV and BET.  He'd give his left nut to have that kind of success once more.

Also, people shitted on Wyclef's production.  Wyclef's production was on point, tracks like "Let's Ride" and "Honor U" gave color to Canibus' otherwise raw, gritty style.  Wyclef is a very under-appreciated producer.  His only production that people ever gave respect to was the Fugee's album, but he's had so many great cuts ever since.

I do agree that Canibus could of used a couple more raw battle, straight lyrical 100 Bars type cuts like what we saw on 2,000 BC.  But don't forget his greatest battle track of all time "2nd Round Knockout" is on there.  So you can't say he abandoned his style on the album.

I never got in canibus aside from From Whom The Beat Tolls

His first two albums are certified hip-hop classics that I think any hardcore 90's hip-hop would love.  As for the rest of his albums...I can't really say
