Title: Jay-Z and 50 to Squash It?
Post by: GATMAN on December 07, 2009, 03:54:52 PM

Despite 50 Cent calling Jay-Z Beyonce’s husband and more recently jabbing that he thinks he’s Jesus, rumor has it that the two may actually be working together behind the scenes. A source who recently found himself eavesdropping on a conversation at a certain New York Giant’s office, recently told BET.com that Hov may be unifying the big apple by featuring Fif and Nas on the “Empire State of Mind” remix.

Word is the entire recording as well as conversations between the NY juggernauts will be documented. In addition to continually jabbing Jay, Fif has had issues with Nas for a while. Former friends, the Queens MCs became at odds after Fif called Nas out on The Massacre’s “Piggy Bank.” Word has already been spreading that Nas, who was reportedly slated to appear on the original track, is on deck for the remix.

One thing is sure, the remix would be huge for the city. What do you guys think? Is the rumor true? Can these legends bury the hatchet for the greater good of hip-hop’s birth place? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

I'd much rather see the 3 get along and work together; especially, nas and 50 because they could make great music together instead of petty disses (though I've enjoy nas's shots at 50).  Besides they all need help.  It's not like New York is dominating shit.  The only reason Jay has stayed strong is by acting like coach/grandpa to new artists where as 50 has tried to compete with them.  Nas got real issues to deal with and never did seem to care too much about the bullshit so!

i would like to see Jay, 50 & Game come together & just run the mainstream game with some Kanye.

just overpower the wack artists tryna make a quick buck.

*waits for someone to say, "they are the wack artists just tryna make a quick buck".*

but as for them squashing it or keeping the beef alive, i have no interest in this gossip.

I'm guessing Dre and Em had something to do with this, they've always had good relations with Jigga. Either way it's a good look for New York

50's a pretty strategic guy, I'd imagine he'd run the scenarios out 1000 different ways and examine every possible perception/reception a move like that would make beforehand. Financially 50 makes nothing, street-wise he looks kinda weak bowing to Nas and Jay, and the significance of them all doing this for just some 3rd incarnation "remix" off an (almost) played-out record is about as meaningful as any mixtape collaboration that's forgotten after the 2nd spin.

50 has more to gain by maintaining the "street" image and throwing shots at Jay, even at the cost of record sales and hit singles.

It's unlikely to happen. At least in the way it is speculated. 50 and Jay are both actively promoting projects right now and are in direct competition with one another so 50 hopping on a remix of a Jay single just doesn't make sense. Especially given that Jay was the one who jabbed at him. Fif stands to gain very little from this at a time when he needs the momentum in his favor. BISD is his last full album under his Interscope contract so him extending the olive branch to Jigga and letting him get all the spins just seems out of character.
