I need one that is similar to Audacity or Goldwave (for those familiar with those)

protools only works with their hardware

try something like apple logic or reason. garageband comes with osx if you buy a mac, so maybe give that a try. if you just want to edit an mp3 (cut the end off or whatever) then try using http://deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/

audacity is pretty good and doesnt have much of a learning curve
