Why is it even necessary to diss both sports? Stupid ass shit, seriously. Golf isn't just some random ass sport that is popular because Tiger Woods came into the scene and soccer isn't just about running up and down the field. They're elite performers in popular sports, case fucking closed. Of course some sports are popular than others but golf is still up there in popularity. In the U.S., it has its own fucking channel.

Tiger Woods was an amateur when the Golf channel launched, so there was obviously an interest in the sport before Tiger Woods. If Golf experts consider him one of the all time best, then no shit in this day and age he's going to get media attention. And to make things worse, he's caught up in a controversy? Obviously everybody will know him.

Woods ain't even as good as people make him out to be. From what the media and all random ppl say, he's as dominant as Federer was in his prime. News flash, he never was even close to Federer. Not EVEN CLOSE. Difference being, in tennis you can only be dominant for a very limited time. In a sport that 55 year olds play, you can be dominant for as long as you like. Tiger Woods was NEVER as dominant as Federer. Federer has A LOT more majors won than Tiger Woods. And he has been in the game for less years than Woods, in a sport that burns you out after 5 years or even less. Just saying. No hating, just telling the facts.

The numbers show that he is pretty dominant in his sport. By the time Woods reaches Nicklaus and Snead in years of time played, he will have the most PGA Wins, Major wins, and probably Masters wins too. No golfer has put up these type of numbers in their first 14 years of being a pro. And I'm not a fan of comparing who is more dominant, because quite frankly it doesn't matter they're elite players that's that.

Tiger Woods is more athletic than an offensive lineman on a Football team & he's more athletic than David Ortiz or Mo Vaughn.
i've tried the sport of Golf, it's more frustrating than any sport you could name me.
it takes more practice & work ethic than anything else imaginable.
and to answer your question, there have been great golfers through each and every decade, but Tiger Woods has just outperformed anything they have done.
just because it doesn't require ridiculous amounts of running, doesn't mean it isn't a sport.

i've played Soccer about 15 times in my life & i played it when i was faster and stronger than most of my freinds & without any prior experience i was playing as good as them simply because i was faster.
anyway, Golf is a professional sport (Tiger made a billion doing it lol), period.

There is an obvious difference between conditioning and athletic abilities and talent. Soccer goalies are still considered athletes, and these guys don't have the same conditioning as a midfielder. If golf is so easy for any athlete, then why aren't more people trying to master it? It can make you a shit load of money.

Yeah, but you're making it seem that anyone can be good at golf. If there is a kid that is aspiring to become a pro baller in any of the top sports you mentioned, but fails at it then what is stopping him from picking up the golf club and handle golf if it's so easy?

Money is also an issue. You can come from a poor family and still ball. Not the case for golf, it's a snob sport for rich people, which also knocks its image. A cool black dude from the hood ain't never gonna pick up a club, he's gonna keep shooting them 3s with his rotten basketball even if he misses all of them.
I have a friend who naturally sucks at sports, like, really unathletic. He plays golf. I don't know if he is decent, but at least as good to be allowed to play. Cause you have to be on some level to play on golf courts here. Anyways, he does it because his parents are quite wealthy and the guys he plays with are on some private school shit.
