After starting off great Peyton Manning, for 90% of the second half, played some of the worst football I've ever seen him play. Before that last drive he looked like Rex Grossman, but time and again that defense showed up and saved the day. If Indy's defense even played average in the second half Indy would have lost, and lost big. The Colts today showed me that they can start off with a bang, have a defense that can fend off and protect a lead despite the offense, mainly the QB, letting them down, and have both sides function great in crunch time. I feel I can count on that D showing up like this through the playoffs, and I don't count on Peyton having another half like that ever again (I mean there was no pressure and Peyton was just missing throws). Indy, Superbowl champs. I'm calling it now. No matter what happens Thursday, or the two weeks after that.

For whatever reason people keep over looking the colts this season with claims they arent as good as their record. But thats the best defense theyve had in a while. And though peyton had trouble their for a minute, two of those picks were deflections.

Yeah, I think their the super bowl champs as well. A Colts-Saints/Vikings final would be unreal.

The first one was a faultless deflection. The second one was a missed throw to Wayne that got deflected because it was off. The third one he looked like Cutler trying like the devil get something going. In every case. They were up by 3 TDs and should have pounded the run and ran screens, only throwing it up the middle or deep when the defense breaks down and the dude is wide open. That being said he had some gorgeous throws to Garcon all second half but that dude defending him timed the hand slaps perfectly.
Colts win Thursday and they go 16-0. Everything is set up for them to lose this game. They have a short week to prepare and are already locked for home field, while Jacksonville is fighting to stay alive and remain in the hunt. Even if the starers do play all game Jacksonville has the edge right now. Colts score early they win. If they fall behind I don't think they have another 4th quarter come back in them. If they somehow do mount another miracle comeback then they may as well be crowned right there. But if they win this then they can beat the Jets and Bills with Sorgi playing 2 to 3 quarters.

i still say saints > colts

lol, they have the second best defense in terms of points allowed a game; Peyton carries the load week in and out. ::)

I don't even know if that was a jab or not Cham, but I'll say this. Before yesterday the defense wasn't showing me all that much against good teams and even letting bad teams run down the field. Yesterday they weren't just a good red zone D, they were shutting down drives early. And in the close games they had this year it took some homerun play from Manning to win those games, and some mistakes from other teams. Yesterday Manning fell apart in the second half and the Defense didn't lose a step. The Vikings have shown they can be shut down on both sides in the same game. The Saints too many times have shown they need teams with the lead to make mistake after mistake to mount a comeback. The Colts right now are the best team in the NFL. And the favorite to win the Superbowl.
-
facts are facts, i don't know what the average is after yesterday, but going into the game the "awful, horrid" defense of the Colts was second in the league, giving up just 16.something points per game.
second best defense in the NFL, because how much points you give up is everything.
i think it's taken some weight off Peyton's shoulders.
anyway, i think the Saints offense is too much for the Colts defense, even being second best; i haven't seen them up again an elite team besides the Pats & they almost lost to them.
would be an amazing perfect Superbowl though.

if the colts and saints do make it to the super bowl perfect one has to lose obviously imagine how crushing and a waste of a season it was for the losing team

The facts they've played a lot of bad offenses this year, but they have been a great second half defense all year. All I'm saying is that before yesterday all I saw was a 12-0 team with wins against a lot of average teams, tha had te rely on close comebacks and second haf adjustments to beat these average teams. Yesterday they played like the mid 90s Cowboys and the mid 90s Cowboys would eat the 2009 NFL alive.
The Colts defense is very similar to the Bills defense. It's a very safe deep zone team that takes away the long ball and big play for the most part and every so often they sneak in a blitz to throw you off. The Bills defense made Brees look very average. And if it was the Colts offense playing for the Bills it would have been a low out. The 27-7 score is deceiving. It was 10-7 Saints after 3 quarters, and after a lot of inept football by the Bills offense. And the FG came after a fumbled punt. Then the Bills feel apart in the 4th thanks to zero first downs. A cover 2 can work on the Saints, assuming they get past the Cards and Vikings.

We don't have to imagine. It happened in 07. And it was great.

tell me when they beat a top tier team....

tell me when they beat a top tier team....
Aren't you a Pats fan?

nah im a bengals fan, and pats aint a top teir team and colts barely beat em.

The Pats are 8-5 and aren't top tier. The only teams with a better record than the Pats or the Saints, Vikings, Chargers, and Colts, and none of those teams have beaten each other. So if the Pats aren't top tier and only 4 teams have a better record ans none of those teams have beaten any teams with a better current record than the Pats, the conclusion I come to is that no team in the league has beaten a top tier team this year except Cardinals, Ravens, Steelers and Broncos.
So who are the top tier teams that have beaten top tier teams, making them better than the Colts?
-
Just wait till the playoffs when they play actually good teams.

4 - Sun, Oct 4 - Seattle - 1:00 PM sucks
5 - Sun, Oct 11 - at Tennessee - 8:20 PM sucks
7 - Sun, Oct 25 - at St. Louis - 1:00 PM sucks
8 - Sun, Nov 1 - San Francisco - 1:00 PM sucks

^the best team besides the Pats, who they beat by one, is the Ravens, who they beat by two lol.
17 points against that defense, in a comeback win.

You guys are idiots. The whole time Indy was winning these games I was questioning them. I never thought they even had a chance at 16-0 despite the weak schedule, which I also commented on. Fuck, the title of my thread is about how I am now finally sold on them. Anything you say about the Colts you can say about the Saints, and the Vikings which I thought we're going to walk right into the Superbowl showed us that a high powered offense and a pass rushing deep cover D can shut them down.
Just name me a better team in the AFC than the Colts. It doesn't mean they cannot lose in the playoffs. But they clearly, right now are the favorite.

but if i asked you going into the season, you would of said the Colts lol.
we all know the Colts are your team besides the Bills; we all got teams like that.
i root for Baltimore & the Cowboys too, that's why i'm so high on the Cowboys lol.
but i'm not going to lie, besides the Pats, Colts & Steelers, i didn't think anybody else was going anywhere.
the Chargers can play, but they showed in the past they can't get over that hump (maybe this year).
so if you asked me in the preseason, i would of said the Colts, Pats or Steelers; all having a good shot.
it's been evident since Week 7, who the team to beat was.
but c'mon, you were sold on the Colts when they said "Peyton Manning will be the quarterback for the Colts in the 2009 season" lol.
-
We are just saying we arent sold on them, and dont act like u werent already sold on them. You say you are a Bills fan but make threads about the colts and manning and defend them all the time, dont hide like ur not some huge colts fan. And to anwer you last question : San Diego
-
I'm sold on Manning and always have been, but all year I was wondering about their playoff chances. It was only after this week that a 1 and done playoff showing will surprise. And for the record, it's more a Manning thing than a Colts thing. I cheer for a lot of teams in te league and hate a bunch more. I'm a Bills guy because no matter who they have (except for when they traded Flutie) I cheer for them. If Manning went to the Titans or Rams I'd cheer for those teams, and I wouldn't care about the Colts at all.

is this because he finally won a game in which he threw 3 picks?
any team could go one & done in the playoffs, that goes for the Saints and Vikings too.

"He" didn't win shit. That's the point. He played like shit in the second half and the defense played like he played in week 2 against the Dolphins. Of course they still can go 1 and done. I'd just be surprised by it. When Indy lost to SD last year, and even the year before, I wasn't surprised one bit. I went in worried they might lose. The least time Indy had a team that surprised me with a loss was against Pit in 05. They surprised me even more the next year when they beat Baltimore, the way they did. The Pats "could" have lost to SD in 07, but it would have been a shocker. That's all I'm saying. Now I think the Colts are the clear AFC favorite, and I think will beat the NFC rep. I haven't said that in a season since the last time they were 13-0. I hope things go differently this year.
