Title: Saddest part about sports this decade?
Post by: Chamillitary Click on December 25, 2009, 09:05:02 AM
in a decade where the Boston Redsox had won their first ring in 86 years, Roger Federer & Tiger Woods winning just about every major they played in & the Giants miracle win against the Patriots; the top stories in sports this decade are.

1. Steroids in Baseball; Bonds, McGuire, A-Rod, Manny, Palmerio, Clemens & just about every big name in the game. :-\
2. The Bret Farve saga, which has carried on for the last few years; just seems to flood the sports world with story over actual game.
3. Tiger Woods recent "transgressions"; could be the biggest story of the decade & it's not about Tiger winning, it's about things that will most likely tarnish his reputation & image for the rest of his life (hopefully not).
4. NBA refs being exposed for fixing games for gambling purposes; can we believe anything we see anymore? :-\

hopefully '10-'19 will be more to what's going down on the field instead of off.

yea but fuck the news, they like to report drama, since the vikings game all i have been hearing is that farve and choidlress are arguing, not the fact that vikins lost and what that could mean

... so these top news stories mean nothing

Vikes fans shouldn't be too worried. The 85 Bears defense let Dan Marino go deep on them all day, gave up 38 points and lost during week 12. Then they had two shut out playoff games and held the Pats to 10 in the SB.

the negatives were big ones this decade, well the roids & the NBA refs, especially.

the whole PED in baseball scandal will be a black mark on the game for decades.  so imma have to go with that, but im biased.

everyone will forget about the pussy tiger was getting once he comes back to golf and beats the shit out of everyone.  the golfing world needs to be scared....when tiger comes back, you know he will be even more focused and determined to win.

the worst part of the tiger "scandal", to me, is that this story was on the front page of the ny post for 20 days, while 9/11 was on for 19 days.  that should say something about where this country is and where we are headed.  :-\

Well I knew that the refs started fixing games around 93 with the Bricks.  Letting them get away with too much thuggery >:(  probably cause they're Satan Stern's team.  The media's team in the mid 90's also.  That's how they got into the finals in 94 & 99 cause they were too sorry to win on their own.  Thankfully the Bricks still choked & didn't win no NBA titles.

Steroids, followed by Ref Fixings.  Who cares about the other two, that doesn't affect the game at all, just the media blowing players up.

The saddest to me is the fact that one of the greatest athletes in the history of sports did not get to go out on his own terms and was made a scapegoat by the rest of the sport that he gave his life to.

What a fucking shame

Barry has no one to blame but himself.

Certainly some truth to that but he is not the first athlete to be a dick to fans and the media.

there was without a doubt an owner lock out on Bonds.

i mean, he batted like .270 with 30 HRs in his final year, when he broke the record; almost any AL team would have taken him for a DH slot.

i always loved Barry. 8)

Well Bonds brought it on himself with his attitude.  I'm just surprised the Skankees never signed him.  Just like the Rangers & Bricks, they gotta have every single person to play the game on their team.  There was an owner lock out on Canseco & collusion on Mark Cuban.  They'd rather have a garbage owner like themselves than an owner who will do what's necessary to make a team matter.  I bet MLB regrets blackballing Canseco from getting 500HR's now :D
