Title: 50 Cent feat. Brooklyn - "The hood" - prod. by Dr.Dre
Post by: Jome on November 24, 2002, 02:46:53 AM
Is it just me, or is this pretty average to be a Dre-beat??
I don't like Brooklyn on this neither, she does nothing to the song.

Believe me d00d, I have heard much better "Eastcoast" beats than this.

I got my doubts on weather Dre can pull off a grimy Hardcore east coast project like this... I don’t need any more Firm flashbacks and that was suposto be Industry club shit. Dre needs to give '50 Shot Ya or any of the shit he was doing with trackmasters a listen and really sit down and figure out what style sounds best. This shit needs to be a authentic eastcoast street album. A moderately west coast influenced, experimental sound isn’t gonna fly IMO.

No doubt, I wasn’t saying that fell solely on Dre the whole project was a disaster "Fiasco" from the conception of a Eastcoast lyricists/WestCoast production lp all the way to "Firm Biz." Personally I think its too bad dre was even associated with that, all I'm saying is I don’t want to see another flawed project. An if you remember.. the Firm album was hyped up just as much as this 50 album is. The track record can speak for itself so I'm just goin by the numbers on this one nothing more. dre really did his thing on "Phone Tap" and "Firm Family" if you ask me..classic shit.

Those where the only two song that really moved me.   ::)

The Firm was way too over hyped!

Seer.. whos fault was it?  Give us your detailed view.

and that about summed about dre's involvement most of the rest of the production on the album was handled by trackmaters tone+poke.. who went on to create.. kurupts 'its over' lol. the firm flop was steve stoutes fault, dre only had 48 hrs with them. thats all. they created a fake super-crew. they told everyone they put it together because they're all great and that it was a business move, cormega was booted and replaced with az because cormega wasnt managed by steve stoute so he wouldnt get as much money. people see through these fake crews, and they dont hold together and be loyal like 'real crews'.

Cormega was replaced by Nature.  Dre also said in an interview that the whole firm thing was all about money, that's why there are 5 different logos on the back of the cd.  It was all about money for the record companies.

"and that about summed about dre's involvement most of the rest of the production on the album was handled by trackmaters tone+pokethe"

...Remember those ("FirmFamily" & "Phone Tap") were JUST the good tracks Dre did. He also did "Five Minutes to Flush" ( :-\) and "Firm Fiasco" PLUS two intros. All toghter Dre handled 1/3 of the Firms album production, SIX tracks, only two of witch were good. So one could make the argument that dre is responsible for 1/3 or that alums failure. And with that cormega thing yea he didnt sign a production deal with Trackmasters because he thought they were extorting him so he refused to sign and they got him booted.. cause like u said there was no real luv.

peace

Yea.. that really showed how loyal fuckin Nas is.  He may be a great MC.. but he aint and never has been in creative control of his music.

Ever since he signed to Trackmasters.. hes been shittin on his own hood!  I bet Nas dont even visit the Bridge anymore.  I bet they just run his ass right on outta there.  It's a shame..  He shouldve been down for Mega.  Even if it meant scrappin the project.

The Dre beat for the 50/Brooklyn track I think is wack cause Dre tries to make a beat suited for 50 & Brooklyn - both from N.Y.  So I think he tried too hard to make a east coast beat.

50 sounds good over beats by Alchemist, Sha Money, Trackmasters & Eminem.
Dre should hit him with some hard shit, like "Xxplosive" or "Still D.R.E.", with Dre's signature bumping bass and shit, not try to be Eastcoast.

Also I think Primo would be a nice pairing with 50.

I feel you Jome.  I think Primo would be typical.  50 should come with some new type of production that's his own signature.  Falling into Dres production style IMO is a mistake.  Id like to see what Eminem and The G-Unit can produce together.  Eminem is really comin up as a producer and his sound is still fresh.  Roll with Em's sound.. not Dres signature.
