I connected it to my computer and it froze.
Is there a way to fix it quickly or do I need to wait till the batery is empty?

Battery just gave up.

If its an iPod Touch hold the home button and the lock button for about 10 seconds and it will reboot

Check that your hold switch is off by sliding the switch away from the headphone jack. The hold switch is located in the top corner of the iPod. If you see orange, then the iPod is locked. To unlock the iPod, slide the switch in the opposite position.

o iPod 1G to 3G (scroll & touch wheel iPods): "Menu" and "Play/Pause"

o Shuffle: Turn it off. Turn it on. Done.

If you have an iPod Mini or 4th gen iPod or higher, then you need to press the Menu and Select buttons. The Select button is the center button in the middle of the wheel.
For older iPods (1G - 3G) you'll need to press the Menu and Play buttons to restart.
