-
wow!what a fucking ending.Amazing game.
-
What an ending. Will Rogers ever recover?
-
WHY DID HE KICK THE BALL?
-
That was a punt return for a TD there, not a fumble recovery.

is that a fact? honestly, i think they really have to rule it that.
-
Rogers had his shot wide open down field and he tried throwing a laser when he just needed a pop fly. Ah well. I needed GB to win for me to get 50 bucks, but 50 bucks is nothing. Go Cards.
It was a forced fumble and I guess the face mask would have taken yards after the play but I figure it would work like a hold or a roughing the passer.

Saw it was a fumble recovery on TV and on nfl.com, but don't think it should be.

Fumble recovery makes 100% sense to me. What would u guys rule that?

depends if there is a definition for a punt.
ball never hit the ground, it went from his hand to his foot & it went about 4 feet in the air & was recovered & returned for a touchdown lol.

My only complaint was the entire time the ball was recovered Rodgers' face mask was being held. I think you could have argued that he was being held from making a tackle.

you probably could & it probably was.
but everything happened so fast & everybody was like "wtf?" & then by the time they recovered the last thing the refs were going to do was stop the play & call it back.

Are there no challenge flags in playoff OT? Just wondering.

i'm like 98% sure you can't; but i always thought that you should be able to challenge penalties.
you only increase the chance of refs "fixing" games by saying whatever they call with flags stand.
like, if i was Rex Ryan yesterday, i would have challenged all three "illegal contact" calls & i would have won all three of them lol.
it's bullshit how players can fake something & the refs give them 30 yards on pass interference.
-
Horrible fluke ending to a great game.
-
the booth should have reviewed it as a precaution but i don't think anything should have been overturned

but they can't review it & then say, "actually there was holding on the play".

I think they could have called the 15 yard fask mask penalty. The only questin would have been whether it would have counted as roughing the passer. A face mask after the fumble just backs up the cards a bit and they score. a Face mask during the fumble means 15 yards a first down for GB, but in Arizona that might lead to trouble.
You don't have to challenge the penalty. You can challenge the fumble and then they can see whatever they see.
-
Yeah but thats the same thing.A penalty isnt reviewable. They cant reverse a call based on a penalty they missed. If someone got a touchdown they cant review the play and be like hey there was holding on that play we can reverse it.the rules are pretty clear on that.

Yes it is. The Music City Miracle was reviewed based on that exactly. It was determined that the ball was pass backwards, but if it was forward it would not have counted as a TD.
-
A pass backwards isnt the same as a holding or a facemask or a pass interference.....

Ok, maybe. All I know was you said penalty and I know it's happened before. All I know is I hear every time they review anything is that they say that only certain things are challenge-able but once under the booth the ref can call anything he wants.
-
Once a play has been challenged, the entire play is open to review. That means that a coach could challenge one particular aspect of a play but the official may see something else that was missed instead.
Penalties and whether they should or should not have been called cannot be reviewed. Almost everything else can be reviewed, including completions, turnovers, spotting of the ball, in-bounds/out of bounds calls, scoring plays and so on.

I'm not debating here. I'm just wonder why an unflagged face mask is different from an unflagged forward pass?
-
ya, penalties are not reviewable and I believe it should stay that way.

i don't know.
those pass interferences happen so fast & the WR always wins; i think slowed down, many calls would get overturned.

Pass interference and holding are one thing. They are subjective. A face mask is not subjective. He either has his face mask in hand or not. Just like a forward fumble, or an illegal forward pass.
-
How are they subjective?Theirs rules and you break them theirs a penalty, just like a face mask.Either you hold someone or you dont, that isnt subjective.
-
The game I find would slow down a lot if penalties were reviewable. I understand the argument to make them so, but I disagree.

yeah, but what kind of moron would challenge a clear facemask?
if a coach really thinks that a penalty called was bullshit, they should have a right to challenge it.
same consequences though, timeout charged & if you get it right, you get another one.

Agreed, people would be calling for reviews after every big play looking for some small infraction

yeah, but when they run out of challenges, they couldn't keep doing it.
& if they keep getting it right, they should have the right to keep challenging it.

1) you can still argue it was a pass interference or a hold. You cannot argue a face mask. A ref can say dual contact or he wasn't grabbing him, or didn't interfere with the pass. If the fingers are locked around the mask they way it was with Rodgers, it cannot be argued.
2) if you could review holding and challenge it and the refs could have cameras on every angle, like they will one day you really could all a hold on every play.

as a packer fan i am really disappointed.
but if the packers won..i dont know if i could handle another one of these games...AMAZING come back by the pack
too bad the result was different...yikes rodgers
