Wyclef is a great artist, allways was.
-
Lol......thats before the quakes. Its the nobel peace price in Norway. Some of the 'celebs' thats dancing along is actually the former prime-minister and some of the royal family..
-
haha i love seeing old white people bopping to rap.
It was like when P Diddy and Kanye performed at the Diana concert and u saw the old royals dancing. Or the Princes dancing to Dizzee. Too jokes.
-
yeah aight - but how is wyclef "rap"? :D

thanx for the link dude!

yeah aight - but how is wyclef "rap"? :D
i was referring to rap music as a whole and wyclef is part of hip hop as seen from the fugees plus he raps on songs. True in this hes singing but hes a rapper as well
-
 and Bizarre of D12 is a singer
LMAO - trust me wyclef is not a rapper. he was 16 years ago
he hasn't been known for doin hiphop-music since the fugees-days
he even said it in an iterview - dat he is a musician, not a rapper or hiphop-act
he collaborates wit ppl like Tom Jones, Elton John, Carlos Santana and Whitney houston for his albums
wyclef hasn't belonged to the black urban music-scene for a long long log time. dat's a white artist..
-

It's a shame people still categorize like that.
-
categorize? LMAO
K-Fed is a "rapper" too, but recordstores are still not puttin his shit in the hiphop-section. categorizing is useful..
if Snoop Dogg decidd to do a jazz-album, would u like to see it end up in the "jazz-section" at Amazon?
but whatever - if u feel like he's dat much "hippity hip-hop" to u, then go ahead and put Wyclef last cd next to ur "Illmatic" and "Reasonable Doubt" cd's in ur bookshelf - dat's ur decision
::)

he was rapping all over the carnival, he may have worked with the above but he has also worked with TI, Chamillionaire & Lil Wayne recently.

lol
Carnival came out 11 years old - and u tell me where Wyclef was rappin on those trax u mentioned and i'll give u a dollar..
and that was 3 songs u mentioned. just 3. even tho he jumped on a few niggas trax here n there - his other catalog of music outweighs everythin, like the movies do to Will Smith's rapping-career.
Wyclef is NOT a hiphop/rap-artist
-
Wycleis a hip-hop artist. You don't have to emcee to make hip-hop. Wyclef just broadens his horizons and makes Caribbean music and RnB music aswell. He is more of a singer but I don't really think thats an issue.
Mind you, I agree hes not done much worth checking for in the last 5-8 years.
-

not "as well" - dat's ALL he is doin
no, wyclef is not a hiphop-artist -
true, u dont have to be an mc --- BUT to be credited as bein "hiphop", u must somewhow b attached on to at least ONE element of the hiphop-genre - u cant attach Wyclef to anythin. NONE
the reason why yall think he is "hiphop" is beacuse he rapped 10+ years ago. read again - 10+ years ago.
and another reason u think he is hiphop, is beacuse of the haitian-toastin he does on some of these other niggas shit, when he is doin guest-appearances - i.e. T.I., Lil Wayne.
but Buju Banton and Damian Marley toasts too, and u sure as hell aint callin them hiphop-artists..
bottomline, ur associating Clef wit somethin he did back in the 90's - none of dat is of ANY relevance in his career today (Mark Wahlberg rapped in the 90's as Marky Mark - but do u call him a rapper today, NO) - HENCE he is NOT a hiphop-arist.
-
I see Wyclet Jean as a Musician now a days, although he still plays a major part in the hiphop community, it also depends on your definition of hiphop, to me its a culture, as far as rap , its true he doesnt do much rap anymore although he did on his last album, but yeah Wyclef is still a hiphop artist. and props to him for helping our country!!!

;D
Wyclef 2010
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGpwMDSVTqs
Wylcef Jean DOESN'T do hiphop-music - there is no way in hell, u can relate to him as bein "hiphop" in any way or form, more than wit his past.. and his past ISN'T relevant in identifining him as an artist, a decade later..
Wyclef 1994
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us1PchAfqWE
i love wyclef-music, but he sure as hell isn't hiphop - he doesn't rap, or do music dat can be defined as bein urban or "hiphop-related", (or do ANY of the other elements in the hiphop-genre for dat matter). and if he sings the hook for one Lil' Wayne or T.I. song - dat dont mean shit..
And IF he occasionaly tries to rap on ONE of the songs on his later albums - his other music STILL outweighs those skills - which ultimately defines him as bein "NOT HIPHOP"..
:D
