Fab 5 Freddy has to be one of my favorite hip-hop pioneers. He is one of the characters who helped make hip-hop great. I was reading an article over at his website where he was mentioning the various video's he directed, and every one of them was what I call "organic", in that they depicted the artist in their own hood, doing what they do on the regular. It's very true to the artist. "What's My Name" was the perfect video to introduce Snoop to the world as a solo artist. Rappin on top of the LBC Record (I've actually been to that store with Siavash back in 02' by the way, lol) store is a classic scene nobody will ever forget when they think of Snoop.
Also, YOMTVRaps is my favorite television show of all-time, and one of the reason's it was so dope is that Fab 5 Freddy was actually got to decide most of what was aired during the shows, from which video's they played, to which artists were featured, interviewed, and so on.
Last point, anyone who doubts Fab 5 Freddy's legacy look no further than the movie Wildstyle. This is one of the greatest pieces of hip-hop history ever depicted in film. Hip-Hop would of never been what it was without Fab 5 Freddy

Word... I could go on all night about Freddy's legacy, a lot of which I've only found out as I've gotten older and gone back and researched the hip-hop of the earlier era that was around before I came of age. But one thing I do remember about him from back in the mid-90's listening to rap, was that he brought out Crucial Conflict in 96' and I thought it was dope that one of the pioneers had came with something so new and fresh at the time.

I know that graffiti artists had a fascination with Blondie back in the day. In "Rapture" Blondie gave fame to Freddy

The store is called VIP Records, not LBC Record.

yeah, I've actually been there. I was saying the LBC Record store because it's in Long Beach and I couldn't remember the name of it off the top of my head so I just said the location of it. Good lookin out though!

I think I need to get some knowledge on Fab 5 Freddy. Watching wildstyle has been on my to do list for a while now. Charlie Ahearn (the director) was at my cousins wedding; it was definitely a missed opportunity not being able to talk to him about it. On a side note, Charlie and my dad talked a lot that night. It was kind of a weird sight to see lol.
