Title: Scott Storch To Save "Detox" Album, "I'm Here Now, We're Gonna See It"
Post by: Elano on February 03, 2010, 09:11:05 AM
Producer Scott Storch has announced his involvement with Dr. Dre's long-awaited Detox album and said now that he is on the project fans will see it in stores.

Storch was in Los Angeles to attend the 6th Annual Roots Jam Session and reconnect with old friends.

"I'm doing a lot of reuniting as far as why I'm out here in LA," Storch explained in an interview. "I'm doing Dr. Dre's album right now. Detox. Well I'm here now, [so] we're gonna see it. We're gonna see it. You know, Dre opened up many doors for me and called me out, embraced me and took me back in after the publicly known drug addiction that I went through and it's a blessing to be back." (VIBE)

Elizondo was already credited on Relapse and BISD. Great news indeed.

Nah I think Storch can give Dre that hit single material. Judging by Relapse I'd say Dre and his other musicians (Batson, Parker, Lawrence Jr., Elizondo) found their groove for album cuts but they lacked that bounce that is necessary for a club joint or whatever.

another dr. dre bashing thread.....HaHaHa, you guys really need to lose your virginity, i mean what do u gain from sayin dre is wack and and detox will never drop... but yet u hang on every letter of his name (D.R.D.R.E) holdin your breath for detox. i guess thats the genius behind the boards and mic, he obviously gets the last laugh at the end of the day. and i think thats what makes u feel sour, its like that present your dad promised you for x-mas but u never received it. 8)

you guys dont even make music (PROFESSIONALLY) yourself but yet your so dependent upon it from someone else, why is that ? 8)

IMO this is only good news. Storch is a dope producer on his own, but seemed a little lost at times without Dre. They make a great team. Dre gives Storch that direction he needs. I hope this means he is back in the Aftermath camp for good and we will be seeing him on other projects.

It seems like Storch has got his head on straight now. He's openly admitting his drug addiction, and is making steps to fix the mess he created for himself with the drugs and bankruptcy.

Guaranteed Stoch's own solo production will change dramatically after working with Dre again (for the better). He's going to be privvy to the most bad-ass drum sounds and will get plenty of ideas to make his own beats hit harder/be more complete. Remember when Storch was working with Dre before, his own production was pretty damn close to Dre's 2001 era stuff and it went further and further downhill the longer he was working as a solo producer.

Having Scott Storch on the keys is a major thing for Detox, musically. Storch helped pioneer the "2001" sound, if he gets on the same page with Dre again, great things can happen.

Dre on the drums, Storch playing keys and Mike Elizondo on guitar & bass =  8)

y'all know my thoughts on 'Get Up' and who did what on that record. a real banger, but the video they made was stupid and it wasn't given a particulaly hard push by the scope. plus, people had became bored of 50 to the extent it didn't matter how much a dope single he put out.

I wouldn't really consider Get Up a flop. It was making noise but then his album kept being delayed so much that they had to keep throwing out new singles because the other ones like Get Up were getting old. I'm honestly surprised they left it off the album though, it was a banger.

I never saw the video but agree with what you say 100%. I got pretty tired of 50 myself and kinda overlooked "Get Up" at first.  Same thing with "I Get It In." I'm kinda checking for 50 again now because he's coming out with some hot shit lately. That "Do You Think About Me" is amazing until the chorus hits. Really saddens me they put such a shitty ass hook on that dope of a beat.

doesnt matter how "hot" you think the record is, it still flopped. it failed to make a big impact on the charts, didnt create any buzz, and caused 50 to push his album back for almost an entire year. If "Get Up" would have been a success, BISD would have been relased alot earlier, and 50 wouldnt have had to relase flop single, after flop single (Get It In, OK Youre Right etc)

Forget about me saying its hot. Everybody liked it. except for a few . In general the song was good. it had hood appeal and it had club appeal. As it was mentioned earlier, the reason it didnt maintain the buzz is because the album kept getting pushed back so ppl stopped caring about it. Also, that video was a horrible idea. and Interscope didnt push it.

And imo, Get up, Get it in, OK you're right, should have been on the album.
But we are deviating from the subject... stick to the script y'all.

I liked massacre too.. It was more mainstream i guess, but I am mainstream :P so i liked it. But GRODT is a classic in its own right. people may disagree but in a few years they'll be able to look over the one or two tracks they dont like and appreciate the general body of the album, which was pretty kick ass.

Post by: Detox Is A Myth!!! on February 04, 2010, 12:10:26 PM
Nah I think Storch can give Dre that hit single material. Judging by Relapse I'd say Dre and his other musicians (Batson, Parker, Lawrence Jr., Elizondo) found their groove for album cuts but they lacked that bounce that is necessary for a club joint or whatever.
if that's true, why wasn't Detox released in 2004?

Maybe because this album does NOT exist :D?

;D  At least somebody else is paying attention.  Sometimes I feel so lonely lol.

Bring back Colin Wolfe and The Glove and maybe Dre will regain that magic touch on the boards.  Scott Storch?  :-\  I don't see what he brings to the table, especially after a drug addiction.  Dre either is desparate or looking for new ways to keep tricking people into thinking Detox is a real album.

It's literally been 10 years since I first heard Dre was going to release an album called Detox.  10 years!

for real, if this album ever comes out, we have to open a whole new forum - 'THE DETOX FORUM'.

near term i'm interested to hear what storch starts producing after his recent trip to the mythical detox land. dre can't stop him using all the shit he's heard as 'inspiration' for his own beats. maybe a true storch resurgence way before detox is released/gets officially cancelled, cause most of his production post-rehab has been poo.
