I remember hearin Devlin freestlye years ago when he was 14 or someshit, pretty dope but I don't see why you have to compare him to another white artist just cause he's white  ???

Fair enough, but at the same time you're immidiately casting a shadow on Devlin to some people on the board by doin that. Look at Em, people don't compare him to other white rappers because he's dope enough to be in his own league. Personally I wouldn't compare Devlin to Asher simply because I don't think they rap like each other at all, but besides, I think Professor Green (another white UK artist) has a more polished flow than Devlin.

true stories but my point has been proven in a way...ive posted 2 threads about 2 artists...views on this one are in double figures because ive mentioned an established artist....way this board works unfortunately...if id said devs was better than eminem it would have been a shock statement whereas i think i could back this claim up with songs from devs catalogue....have you heard his mixtape art of rolling??...certified banger...i did like prof green to an extent but he's fell off radar

waht do u think to the song i posted anyway i love this shit lol

Haha fair enough, but I certainately wouldn't start saying he's better than Eminem ;) .. but I haven't heard Art of Rolling, maybe I'll check it out over the weekend, I'd be lying if I said I listened to much UK hip hop .. The song you posted is definately tight though, Devlin obviously has lyrical ability and as I said one of my friends hooked me up on him a few years back when he was just coming up, it's just that sometime he seems unable to put everything he wants to say inside the bars and as such his flow sometimes drifts off the beat (the Chino XL syndrome), this could be a problem for him especially when you're posting his music for US listeners on this board who often wont be able to understand all of the lyrics of a UK artist, and as such need to hear a real dope flow to get in to the music, not matter how deep the message of the lyrics.

Devlin is pretty sick but sometimes sounds like hes reading from a thesaurus. He could improve on his flow

Devlin has the talent but his flow is poor and some of his songs are just fucking boring. His voice is so dull to me he doesnt hold my attention. The guy needs to develop A LOT to even get full recognition here in the UK nevermind overseas. There are dozens of better emcees in the UK right now than Devlin.

Still, he's got some good tracks.

his flow just sounds straight up awkward lol.

i'm going to have to take the Topic & switch it around. :P

but why do we have to compare white rappers to white rappers?

Eminem is better than 98% of anyone else to ever rap & even though Asher isn't "all that", he's still better than most rappers in today's mainstream game.

Devlin needs to work majorly on his flow. Ghetts and P Money though would destroy most rappers out now imo

Giggs is signed to XL Recordings

Mike Skinners The Beats label folded in 2008

Hopefully Mike is spending time perfecting his new album
