:D at the title but no bullshit tho, ima check this 1 out... shoulda b smooth
-
Only good for Quik & Devante productions otherwise to me Danny Boy was/is a trash r&b lover/singer :-X
-
great wide awake get to fuck up more tracks from a classic producer. the danny boy track that was on the last compilation produced by quik was mixed horribly. not as bad as the unreleased dre productions, but still insulting and not a shade on quik would have intended it to sound.
would this stuff be heard otherwise? who knows, probably one day though....
wide awake need to improve the mixing/mastering of their projects drastically or just dissapear.
-
a fuckin danny boy album? :-\
r ppl really intrested in this? ???
how about a dogg pound or nate dogg project instead?
-
The Danny Boy album might actually be good since this is 1996 material.
-
nice finally some danny boy. devante and quik productions sound good enough to me!

to be honest i was hoping for some features, not on every track but at least half of them, 2pac, snoop, dpg.
im not a massive r&b fan, i didnt buy the michel'le album. i dont think ill get this either (didnt get that 'new' kurupt aswell)
i would of bought it if it had a few of the inmates on it.

Well, WIDEawake do have the tendency to fuck up perfectly good unreleased albums. Lol. I like Danny Boy, so this will be the first release I will pick up if they do the mixing right.

now correct me if im wrong, but wasnt WA posed to release a compilation on Death Row-bitches or somethin? ???
-
Well, I know a lot of people wanted a Danny Boy album, hopefully this will satisfy them. I'm surprised this is coming out, figured it was canceled.
-
Looks like a solid release.. I mean, the can't do worst than Down & Dirty can they :D?
-
hell yeah im pickin this up..quik productions? roger troutman? DAMN..those tracks on the ultimate death row collection got me hyped for this..
-
Wasn't WideAwake supposed to drop an album called "Pure 2Pac" too?
-
Dj Quik's unreleased tracks? Great news :D!

They supposed to release this on his birthsday, June 16, 2010..
-

so how many of these are out besides "so in love" and "come when i call remix"?
-
I wonder if Mama Use To Say is a remake. 8)

that would be dope as fuck..hopefully at the same tempo and not a slowed down version to..
-
I think I'll probably support this. I'm not really into r n' b, but I know a lot of people have been waiting on a Danny Boy album. And this release at least looks respectable compared to that "Down and Dirty" crap they put out this month. Hopefully they'll put out another rap album after this, though.
-
Damn! I'm waiting for this since 2002! With Devante and Dj Quik on the productions you will see that this would be a groundbreaking album in 96!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
cant wait, traks with dj quik should be dope but im kinda dissapointd with the guest artists though

I was wondering this myself. I would say it probably is, especially since Too Late off Hammer's album sampled a different song by Junior, who did Mama Used To Say. Classic song, loking forward to hearing it with a Death Row twist.
What's up with the lack of features though? I mean an unreleased Roger Troutman song is probably harder to come by than 2pac stuff is, but still just one feature? Zero rappers?
-
Although I don't plan on buying this album either, atleast they're finally giving us something different. I'll actually check this one out. Hopefully they find a new engineer guy; where is Duro when you need him?
-

Yeah. It would have been nice with the 2pac features included, but I figured they wouldn't be able to include them on here.
-
I'll purchase this, but they need to improve the mixing. how many times do they need told

of course you will hahahah

of course most people won't admit it here but im sure they will buy this one... ;)
-
I'll give it a listen.. highly doubt it will be purchased.. ::)
-
Haven't made my mind up on whether I'll be buying. If I knew the mixing would be on point, I'd definitely cop but those last two releases still kill me. I'm not even an audio snob but they need to clean that shit up big time.
-
That's a for sure buy..... The album is practically produced by Quik. As if his music isn't a consolation as it is. Quik is a genius and does an incredible RnB sound (Come When I Call, Freak And You Know It, So In Love). Devante is great too. I loved his contributions on All Eyez On Me. This should be WideAwake's shining star thus far. Would've been nice to see 2pac on there but that won't hinder a buy for me. I hope they find some more Quik tracks and slap them on there as bonuses. And it IS about time....

That means it's his 96 album with OG tracklist?
Give us some details Mike :)
-
fuck !! i said i wasnt going to buy another wideawake album after the crappy quality on ultimate box set, but i been waiting for this Danny Boy for years !! he doesnt have a weak track...guess ill have to buy this and complain about the quality later :)
-
I always found him to be an average artist, nothing special about him.I dont think i could take an entire album of him.
-

Solid album. If anyone likes smooth R&B they'll love this. Muhfukka is still holding out for the Ladies of Death Row CD
-
Not what I wanted but it looks like a good release on paper.

A lot of people were, and have done since 1995, hence why he has a completed album, and not just a project of tracks. There was always a big demand for Death Row R&B, and is evident in the Michel'le album, the big R&B influence on Chronic 2000, and the talks of Knight Time Entertainment. His album besides 2Pac & Crooked I always rated high by the fans. This is an overall West Coast forum, so more than likely the Dr Dre's, the 2Pac's, or Snoop Dogg's will always be more favored over a Danny Boy album

i woulda co-signed with u on that 100% but this isn't 1997 anymore. I don't even think DB woulda pulled in any major attention if he woulda dropped an album in 98 truthfully. dont get me wrong im not sayin ya man aint got no talent or didn't have some people checkin' 4 a record but DB woulda got tha SAME numbers (maybe a lil better maybe a lil worser) than Michel'le. remember, right after Pac died the whole entire music game took a change, D' got lost in the wave homie - even Snoop & Dre took an 'L. but let me not go on ranting about how DB shouldn't release an album or how he's a nobody, all i gotta is nobody gives a shit.
-
If danny boy had dropped an album in like 96 he might have squeezed out a gold plaque.
-
its a lose/lose situation.
people will complain and bitch regardless.
im happy that some sort of 'new' material is making its way out.
obviously i will download it before spending money on it

in all honesty... what ever they release people would complain, they should just ban any cry babies at their forum, itll clean it up a bit.
-
Ive bought every release by wideawake so far, even down and dirty and I will continue to.The only way the company is going to make it is through support, fuck that download shit, you know damn well no matter how much you like it you wont pay for it.Even though theyve made mistakes and some of their decisions make me scratch my head, something is better then nothing.I want the crooked i albums and lbc and etc,a swoop g album would be amazing.Hopefully they release those albums but the only way their going to get to them is people supporting it.Everyones dreams are coming true getting to hear all this death row music and yet all people can do is continue to complain.Sure some of these tracks sound unfinished, thats because tehy are unfinished their just tracks sitting in the vault. If they touched them up people would complain they arent autentic anymore.
-
i'll download it but i wont spend money buying it unless its got daz, kurupt, snoop or pac on there
this isnt danny boy's real album cuz pac was on it
i doubt this will sell more than 1000 copies, who wants to bet on how many it gon sell?
-

Nah man he be Plat. Think about it.
he had a Video out (Slip n Slide)
Was featured on 2pac's hit track "I aint Mad at cha", was in the video also
And was on his first post death album.
Danny Boy could of made himself a alright commodity at death row at the time. He was active on Soundtracks and 2pac records.
I'm not sure he could of gone Double Plat (which even Tha Doggfather had gone) but he had some steam at the time. Death Row RnB was something everyone still wanted outta the G-Funk label, with tracks by Jewell, Michel'le being a signee, and Danny Boy showing 2 be a promising artist all which had tracks on Soundtracks which had sold well despite being Hip-hop oriented.
Post-1998 probably nothing. I mean 1997 yeah, cause Makaveli Album was released near the end of 1996 and 2pac was still getting play on radio/tv (Makaveli Videos including Toss it Up). But in 1998, that's when Death Row really went inactive. The last release was Daz, Nate release his album off death row, Dr. Dre was finding success with Eminem, and West Coast rap had took a serious loss with pac.
Now today??? Well he could squeeze a couple of units. He's RnB so he has more marketing appeal then Old School West Coast G-Funk, but Wideawake doesn't really put any effort in advertising, so I wouldn't expect it to go even gold. I know since I only got a handful of DB tracks I'm probably gonna get the album if I have the cash, but I highly doubt this release will fair well. Given the fact Fans are pissed off at the mixing.
-
its some fuckin random tracks since Pac (for example) was supposed to be on this

that's your choice, but it's not like the company really gives a fuck about the people that want to hear the music, so the support argument is bullshit.
honestly i'm not interested in their releases, as i think they'll put out bullshit anyway + the best stuff will probably remain unreleased due to contracts/legal issues
-
Just give me Street Life in CDQ and I'll be happy with Wide Awake.
-
they should just release it and move on quickly and then try 2 cross promote it with something that has a broader appeal (whatever that is).
