Indie Bay Area Vet Rasco Readies His 'Most Complete LP To Date' (via Ballerstatus.com)
On the heels of traveling the globe for shows in Czech Republic to Sierra Leone, Bay Area rapper Rasco is gearing up to return with his sixth and what he calls his "most complete LP to date," Global Threat.
For the upcoming album, the rapper nabbed production from beatmakers around the world, while enlisting guest appearances from Royce Da 5'9, Planet Asia, Supastition, Concise Kilgore, and others.
According to Rasco's camp, he pushes himself to places he hasn't gone before on Global Threat. On "Eyes Wide Open," the raspy-voiced MC gets personal as he tries to decipher his dream where he's reunited with his older sister and father, both who passed away when he was young.
Then on "Who's the Enemy," he proves he hasn't lost his edge when he trades raps with Detroit heavyweight Royce Da 5'9 about knowing who your friends are in the game over a classic west coast beat by producer Madskillz.
Since dropping his ground-breaking LP in 1998, Time Waits For No Man, Rasco has gone on to release multiple critically acclaimed projects -- including his collaborative Cali Agents project with Planet Asia in 2000 called How The West Was One, his second LP Hostile Environment, and his critically acclaimed third solo joint Escape From Alcatraz, among several others.
He even got a call from Linkin Park for their 2002 remix project, Reanimiation, on the track "Ppr:Kut".
Global Threat is set to drop February 23.
