is there a Dogghouse Records logo, or there's only Doggy Style one?
-
Google comes to rescue :) I guess they just changed the name from the DoggyStyle one

It was Dogghouse Records first. I believe they had to change it because Kid Rock had already trade marked the name "Dogg House Records." So they changed it to Doggystyle Records. But the first Eastsidaz album came out before the change so it still has the original "Dogg House" logo on the inside of the cd booklet. I'm guessing that's where that pic was taken from.

any chance for a scan?

I'll try to post it if I can find my copy of the first Eastsidaz album. I can't believe there's not a better pic of it on google, but all I could find was that low-res pic.

Yeah. That's what I was thinking of. For some reason I was thinking it was on the back of the booklet. But I must have confused it with the front of the cd itself. I haven't looked at it in a while. I knew it was somewhere on that first Eastsidaz cd. lol Thanks for posting that.

That and Suge still owned the copyright for the name Doggystyle Records from the DR days. Once the lease on the name expired and Suge did not re-up, Snoop renamed the company Doggystyle. Same with Daz and Kurupt getting Tha Dogg Pound name back.

I thought Kid Rock's label was "Top Dog" not "Dog House"?

I could have swore I remember MTV running an article about this back when it happened, but I checked their news archives and couldn't find it. In fact, on their website even some of the more recent news articles still refer to it as "Dogg House Records." And some of the old news articles about the company (that should have been before the name switch), refer to it as "Doggystyle Records." It may have something to do with their search engine, but their website seems to use "Dogg House Records" and "Doggystyle Records" interchangeably.
Does anyone else remember this article, or a similar one that discusses the name change?

I just looked up Kid Rock, it's Top Dog Records.
"He started his own label, Top Dog Records, and released monthly demo tapes dubbed The Bootleg Series, which featured demos of him and other up-and-coming rappers and garage rock bands in the Detroit area" http://www.topdogrecords.com/
He founded the label. I'm just sayin'..

It's cool, man. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. I could have sworn MTV ran a story years ago about Snoop having to change the label name to "Doggy Style Records" because Kid Rock already had the name "Dog House." But it was 10 years ago, and I can't seem to find any record of it. Maybe it's Alzheimer's fuckin' with me. lol
