i love his game and his hustle, but he is sounding like a fucking moron.
“People see dark faces out there, and the perception is that they’re African-American,” Hunter said. “They’re not us. They’re impostors. Even people I know come up and say: ‘Hey, what color is Vladimir Guerrero(notes)? Is he a black player?’ I say, ‘Come on, he’s Dominican. He’s not black.’ …

if this were the 1930's you AND vlad wouldn't be playing torri
granted he is correct in terms of nationality...but who the fuck cares lol
-
Some of what he's saying is true but the way he said it makes him look like an asshole.
-
What color is Vlady? People are really coming up to him and saying that? Gimme a break
And he's not black? haha, of course Vlady is, just look at him. Vlad is Dominican and black, Hunter is American and black.
-
Everyone knows what he is trying to say, he should have continued using "african-american" or whatever.
-
if you thought Vladimir Guerrero was black, you're retarded lol.
i want to meet the man who said that lol.

He even wrote a response (I didn't think he had to, but this just shows the class act he is) - http://toriihunter.mlblogs.com/archives/2010/03/a_hurtful_unfortunate_episode.html?partnerId=rss_ana

to those who agree with torri, so you agree that only 'african-americans' are black?!?!
lmao..really?
wow.
-
btw, after how many generations of being in the US will they finally drop the 'african' in 'african-american'??
-
is vladdy black? yes.

"What I meant was they're not black players; they're Latin American players." lmao
i think he should just shut up about this and do what he does before he puts his entire leg in his mouth.

Be a little fair, he gets it. "The point I was trying to make was that there is a difference between black players coming from American neighborhoods and players from Latin America."
The whole reason they're having that discussion is because how american black people are declining in baseball. Personally, that's a bogus issue. I don't know the exact numbers right now, but I'm pretty sure american black people in baseball is very close to american black in the United States. If he feels that there should be a higher number of american black people in baseball based upon the number of american black in sports like Football and Basketball, then this argument will most likely lead to a racist idea. Because the only argument you have is that you're superior to other races in these sports and since we're superior in those sports we should be superior as well in baseball. Through out this time, I've felt weird saying black americans...I can imagine in an interview I will most likely say blacks.
